  1. Even worse it can become a 5-2-3 - which happened in the cup game It's essential that we push Grimmie and Carrol forward enough and that we keep Watt central or just behind the front 2. In short make it work in midfield
  2. suspect he's on his way out. I liked Kelly's update the other day but wondered why it was him and not S'OD - it was an updated you'd expect from a captain.
  3. selection puzzles me most weeks - looks like only 2 midfielders unless we're playing Grimmie in right midfield. Personally not seen enough from either Woolery or Amaluzor to convince me to play them ahead of VV or Shields. Hopefully they start shining today.
  4. We need victories to build confidence - the sooner we get a win on the board the better - particularly against teams like Livi. today is great opportunity for get max points.
  5. I was thinking the same thing. £12 to watch on a stream is plenty. Appreciate they want encourage punters into the games but living in Yorkshire makes it difficult.
  6. Had a scour on the net and can't find anything back to the 90s. Early 2000's we averaged 7500 fans (2005 season). We've definitely dropped off since but perhaps 10k per week is remembering through claret coated lenses. Either way I'd love to see FP back rocking and no better time than now. (well next week)
  7. We really need the points. I'd be tempted to put in a 4 man midfield - O'Hara being one of them and go grind out an ugly win.
  8. I get that - Edinburgh has always been bigger than Motherwell. It's more a comparison how we've fallen in crowd size. Hibs/Motherwell for a long period of time had very similar crowd size, over the last 20 years they've maintained v's we've halved in crowd size. I don't know how they've managed to maintain v's why we declined - but it does frustrate. Ideally I'd like to see us improve and get stronger as a club - v's the survive another year and aim for 9-6th spot.
  9. My frustration was not too many years ago we had very similar crowds - Hibs have maintained and added more punters. We have reduced by more than 50%.
  10. frustrates me that a team like Hibs who not so long ago were relegated are able to snap up some of our previous decent players. Shows the impact of being able to maintain 10k crowds each week.
  11. think I preferred the fake news. On a serious note at least we're looking at midfielders - what happened to the boy from Leeds - that was more promising.
  12. important to get 3 points on the board. Don't really care how - but we need a few points in the bag in these easier early games.
  13. agree with all of this. Which begs the question - what happens at training to improve this turgid crap
  14. Personal view - Slattery looks to be a decent player - he can pass - which is something the rest of our midfield struggle to do. Ojala - you're right, purely on reputation. I didn't see him yesterday so difficult to say for sure.
  15. I agree with this - we could easily have switched to a 3-5-2 yesterday or god forbid go to a 4-4-2. Our persistence to play the same system and have the same issues doesn't enhance my confidence we know what we're doing. Also to have dropped Watt who was the one bright spot from the previous game was a joke. (albeit I want to see him played deeper)
  16. Yorky - forgot about Shields tbh - completely agree - needs time and see what he can do. He's on paper the right kind of signing and I hope it works well. I've no beef with any of the new players. As long as we aim for quality and obvious first team picks.
  17. In terms of rebuild - first mistake was resigning players who aren't good enough to be auto first choices. From who we have signed. Kelly , Ojala, Slattery , VV all look very decent. O'Conner also looks decent - don't know why he's been dropped. The others don't look good enough - albeit Woolery may need time to settle down. we need to sign another quality 4 to go right through the team
  18. still not got a clear view on GA's capability - his heart and attitude appear good. What I don't like and it was the same with Robbo is the rhetoric of 'we need to work harder' v's We need to start playing football, pass to one another, create space and move forward. I don't think it's too much to expect that we can keep the ball and move forward like a collective. I appreciate teams need to gel, just want to see some evidence of working as a team.
  19. agree - our issues have been slapping us in the face for 18+ months. That said we've perservered with the same formation that doesn't work, many players that don't work for far too long. I'm not clear what the new regime offers differently from what robbo's set up offered - would love to see a different approach to games -
  20. Given we have no craft in midfield coupled with the fact he's not out an out and out scorer it's strikingly obvious he should play in the old number 10 position .
  21. less obvious as to why Watt isn't starting. He's the one player we have with a bit of guile and made a huge difference last week. He'd be one of the first names on the team sheet for me.
  22. S'OD needs a rest - so can understand why he's not featuring. Might struggle without VV and Watt upfront but at least we can see some depth in our squad . Quite a decent subs bench
  23. having played for Valencia, West Ham and Galatasry I'm sure he's always had one eye on coming to FP for the last few years of his career.
  24. Agree SOD was unlucky. Woolery did miss the header but would much prefer if it was Mugabi/Lamie attacking it. Having strikers in the box defending is always a calamity. We need to set ourselves better for set pieces and have the right people in the right position. hoping the big Finnish dude will be gobbling up these balls into the box , all day long.
  25. only if we're determined to continue with a 4-3-3. Would like to see us sign some more decent midfielders - that would sort the majority of our issues.
