Malky McKay, while a clown, would be a good shout if he's looking to get back in to club management. I've loads of time for Keith Lasley and wish he was going to be the answer but I can't see it. As everyone else says he's part of the regime that lead to this and we need a new face. Player wise I only hope we can move some players on to let us bring in the fresh blood. What we need depends on what the new gaffer wants to do (and how bad Carsons knee is).

Did McCall do a good job? Cos he left us headed for the championship with a squad of dross as well. Now isn't the right time to reflect on Robinson, its too raw. This kind of thing happens, when you gamble on lower league hidden gems you'll have runs of good and bad luck, this year has definitely been bad luck. Though there's something to be said about recruiting players the way you'd buy scratchcards.

4-2-3-1 Grimshaw and Campbell as the two battling with Polworth in the middle of the three and Watt as the hold up man. Mibbe?
-
Didn't Tommy Wright have some sort of agreement with St Johnstone, a kind of informal no compete clause, that he wouldn't jump to another Scottish club? Or is this made up internet nonsense repeated often enough to become fact? At this stage we need results, Tommy Wright would get that. George Burley as an outside shout? Been out the game for a few years but got a good pedigree and is a former player....

With so much going on with Robinson chucking it ive not heard anything about Carson? How concerned are we there? Are we looking at a new keeper in January?
-
I was a big fan of Robinson, I thought he did a very good job and was the right fit for the club. However it is his time to go, much like McCall he tried everything he could but couldn't get the turnaround required. Id say Lasley will take over in the interim but we need a change. Id bite your hand off for Tommy Wright, we need results and we need them quick with a squad that has some faults, unfortunately I think his agreement when he left St Johnstone would prohibit this. Right now, we're not needing someone to come in and make the football exciting and sexy and have new wild ideas, we need points. No idea who it could be.

5 more wins and we're pretty much guaranteed to not finish in the bottom 2...
-
A point more than we deserved probably. Had decent spells at the end of both halves but for the first 30 minutes of each we were way off. Second half Aberdeen didn't create much, thought Lamie had a decent game as did Grimshaw. Nothing special but solid enough.
-
We're in top 6 form since the start of the season... Fortunately so, yes. But thats what our form is.
-
Grimshaw is limited but he'll put in a shift and get up and down the line. Its an idea. Aye, battle and harrass in midfield and play it in to the flanks for Lang and Watt to chase or up to Watt to try and win some fouls. That is probably the plan.

He could put out Bayern Munich's starting 11 and folk would complain that there weren't any boys that came through our youth team starting. For all the folk that write off games against the old firm and the inevitable poor result these threads still get the most responses. If we get a result (stop laughing) then folk will say its in spite of the shite team and if (when we get pumped) people will say we got pumped despite Robbo doing everything right.... thats where we are now.

3-5-2 I assume with Grimshaw at LWB? Ask him to press Tavernier and O'Donnel to press Barisic and try to emulate what St Mirren did during the week? I look forward to all the comments about being too defensive after slating Robinson for being too attacking going 4-3-3 against Celtic. Last result we got against Rangers was the 3-3 at Fir Park was playing 3-5-2 so maybe something in that, Crawford, O'Hara and Campbell should offer a lot of legs in the middle of the park. I can see what he's trying to do, don't think it'll work mind you.

We've stayed in the league comfortably while making profits. That says our signing policy is a success. You might not like it but its not a waste.
-
O'Hara, Grimshaw, Rose, Grimshaw, Ciftci, Aarons, Aryibi, Lang, Main, Tanner and Cole all did or are doing enough for us to be called successes at this level. So its closer to 50/50. I'm pretty sure you're just constantly fishing with these so fair play to you, you got a bite.

Yeah but they always point to the "foul" on the keeper, which came before Reynolds handball but after Hutchinsons shirt getting pulled. Their more righteous anger was their goal that was chopped off for offside despite being miles on. Still the best thing I've ever seen on TV, well the last 2 minutes and 5 minutes after the match. The 88 minutes before was grim.

I think we make ourselves easy to work with, basically wave any fee and let other clubs take them on so they come off our wage bill. I don't see that happening with White, as though I don't think he's going to do a job for us Robinson clearly thinks he can offer more. If we can get Seedorf of the wage bill and bring in someone who can contribute then brilliant. Id say the same for Long on this seasons showings as well despite thinking there's something about him and expecting him to kick on this year. Rolando Aarons is playing academy football so if there was something to be done to get him back in on loan on January id be happy with that, especially if Seedorf is away. If Carrol isn't close to playing again then we should bring in a left back as lamie and mcginley aren't doing it as cover. I expect a but of movement in January but we shall see. Think a lot of clubs will have budgeted based on fans being back in by now so could be cost cutting across the board.

Huge match today, and one we need three points from with a trip to ibrox next week then Aberdeen after that. Out the next 5 games to the turn of the year its our best chance of 3 points and we really need to pick up at least 6 points to ensure we're top 6 at the turn of the year.

Good news on Carson, less so on Cole as I would have had him in against Hibs tomorrow
-
Any more updates on the injured players? I'm worried Dunne won't kick a ball for us again, Carroll has big expectations for coming back and I think people need to temper them as he'll take a long time to get back to match sharpness (and he's a victim of the phenomenon of the longer you're out the better you were ). Donnelly will be a big boost when he's back, whats the latest there?
-
I'd agree with bringing back in Campbell (obviously) and Maguire with McGinley at left back. Go with the three up top and hope Watt has one of his good days. Wouldn't be upset with a point from this.

Not exactly an exciting draw. One of the worst we could have got. Ah well at least we're at home..... and we cannae go.

Is Gallacher's deal up in the summer? That's a blow, he's definitely moving on to a Championship club down south, someone would definitely take a gamble on him with no fee and low wages for the Championship. I think O'Donnell will stay to June just to guarantee himself games to get to the Euros and get a move in the summer.

Let's open it up. Last motherwell player to play at a major tournament for any nation? Coyne at USA 94?

Aberdeen have a far higher budget than us and the last time Aberdeen beat Celtic was Feb 2016, they've only beat them 10 times in the last 25 years. We beat them in December 2015 and have beat them 11 times in the last 15 years. (From a very quick look online so happy to be corrected on this) Last season was cut short but we got points of Rangers in a battling performance, that 3-3 with that last kick of the ball from Hartley, you can't claim that we didn't show bottle or battle that game. The season before there was the 1-1 with Celtic which was a battle as well. Our record against the old film teams is not that different from the rest of the league, its just that people decide to exclude cup games or play offs to suit the story they want to tell. We had a good spell against them in the early to mid 90s, we've had a bit of a poor record of late, that's how it goes. We'll get a spell again soon where we do well (and folk will moan that we aren't doing it every week and it's no good doing it against Rangers if you can't do it against Ross County) then go through a poor spell. That's just fitba.

Should be level. 2 great chances
