Friendly against Rangers on July 22nd, https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2020/07/10/watch-rangers-v-motherwell-friendly-live/ Although I'm starved of fitba I'm still not going to watch pre season friendlies.
-
Interesting development here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/53349168 If that goes ahead you'd think we'd be looking to get fans back in the ground not long after, maybe mid September?
-
He liked that tweet, And that one. Not an announcement but quite a hint
-
I thought McGlinchey was a centre back primarily. And i've confused Lamie as being able to cover at RB. So aye, made a mess of that.
-
And seeing some of Burrows Twitter action i'm going to say that everything I said there is balls, and Long is going to resign. Which makes me think then why are we looking at Lang.
-
I'm going to assume this was drawn up a while ago and they've sent it out already, it's just a billboard so shouldn't be taken as any grand sign. Lang in and Turnbull out but not until late September and I think our activity is done. Maybe a left back on loan if Carroll isn't recovering the way we hope. Also Dunne won't kick a ball for us again.
-
Transfer window open until October 5th. So ideally Turnbull leaves for big money after some sensational performances in the Europa League qualifying rounds. Mibbe.
-
With how packed our midfield looks I'm expecting someone to go and Turnbull is the most likely option. If we bring in Lang and with Hastie coming in you can see that Robinson is going to go with 2 wingers again as the default so we have 5 first team midfielders who would be expecting to start games for 3 slots. Would like to see him down south, Newcastle would be good for him being an easy trip back to see family etc. But very little chance of any first team football for him. Maybe Stoke is a better shout. With the transfer window being extended this will drag on for quite some time i think with English clubs not spending til later in the year.
-
Yeah I'm basing this on playing the same way as last season with the lone striker and 2 wingers. Not sure how else we would plan to go next season.
-
Nah didn't actually bet it, too many lockdown losses since the EPL came back.
-
Maybe this should be in other football but theres a lovely conspiracy theory about Wigan https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1279000646335836163.html Also halftime and Gorrin not booked yet. That's a coupon buster.

So on a less divisive note... what's our best XI as it stands: Gk: Carson Lb: Carroll Cd1: Gallagher Cd2: McGinchely (sp?) Rb: Grimshaw Mf1: Turnbull Mf2: Campbell Mf3: Donnelly Fw1: Hastie Fw2: Watt Fw3: Hylton Leaving a bench of: Fox Lamie Polworth O'hara White Seedorf MacIver I cant see us starting the season with all those options in midfield so I'm assuming someone is going. Donnelly or Turnbull pr both possibly. Probably during the window when the Championship down south is finished. But that's on nothing more than guesswork. I've not got a source.
-
No idea where this must play stuff has come from. That's something I'm sure is just made up and if by some twist it's true I'd be most disappointed. Dont care who the player is, the manager has to be able to drop them when they want and pick the team on their terms.
-
Yeah, I'd rather have Aryibi or Aaorons but i assume those aren't options. Sane with Murphy. If he comes in and does a job for us for a season then ideal. Itd be the same result as if he'd signed a one year extension at the end of his current deal then went to Rangers. I'd be more excited by a gamble on a player I dont know but happy enough to have him back in. He's got to start well though or he could find himself the boo boys victim in a big way. Also I've got a wee hope that Seedorf will show more this season. Hes had a full year to settle in, hes another year older so more composed and disciplined etc. So I'm holding out a hope that he will contribute more next season.

Saw the Exeter team last night, some amount of ex well players there. Nicky Law Jake Taylor Ryan Bowman Alex Fisher Maybe not a surprise they got pumped
-
These league cup style single games make upsets all the more likely. Ideally its us doing the upsets rather than the other way round.
-
2 teams from Serbia and 3 from Hungary start in Round 1 with us. Not all decided which teams so dont know the coefficient for seeding but it's a possibility. Ideally it's a welsh/irish team first and we get a win moving on to something more exciting. 6th team in England enters in quailifying round 2 which could be Man Utd. A nice glamour tie.
-
Add Long and White in there and assuming we do well with injuries then that's a decent side.
-
If we keep Long and add in White I'd say this was a better close season than I thought we would have.
-
Aye that's been known for a good while. Good signing I'd think, can cover at left back but will play mostly in the middle. Still like to see Dunne come back and play alongside Gallacher if he can stay fit but we need to carry three real first team centre backs and I'm not sure Mugabi is a genuine first team player. Think O'Hara will only come in if someone goes out from the middle (Donnelly I'd imagine). I like both players but don't think we can afford to have both.
-
Yup. That's the fella.
-
I've just assumed as they've put him front and centre in the new strip launch picture there was no plans for a move in the works. I thought the same about Sean Penn in Game of Thrones mind you.
-
So Turnbull sold and no new faces. I think I can interpret your posts now....

The Rangers V Motherwell Spfl Playoff Final 28/05/15
C&A not the shop replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Aye being a football fan is about moments, and the moment of full time at Ibrox was amazing even watching from a pub in town. That weird feeling of being elated but also nervous that we could throw it all away. When the first goal went in at Fir Park and we were basically definitely safe it's one of my favourite memories watching Motherwell. -
Is Mugabe on a deal til next year? That's not ideal. I'm a fan of Dunne as I've already said in this thread but of Lamie does come in and we have Mugane still under contract I don't see us offering Dunne anything. Also cant see us carrying two first choice right backs in Tait and Grimmy so imagine Tait will be offered much reduced terms, no harm to him of he can get more elsewhere. Thought he struggled early in the season but thought he may be coming on to a game again. Thought he was excellent when he came on in the cup against St Mirren.
