Kyle Lafferty must have been linked with us every January window for 4 years now. That being said I could see him as a useful option. Not the most exciting signing and not someone I'd expect to start but offers something different and can play in the middle or wide in front three. I was keen for this deal to go through previously now I'm not fussed, I wouldn't be appaled by it but at the same time I wouldn't be excited by it.
-
Can play on the left of a front three so it makes sense that people make that connection. If he can stay fit I think there might be an Indian summer left in him. Would assume its just a daft rumour since he came through here and can play where Watt has played. Surprised they aren't saying the same about James Scott. EDIT just looked in to it and realised he already played for Hull this seasons so can't go on loan anywhere else.
-
I'd rather he wasn't here after January as I can't be bothered with the debate that will come when he either plays or doesn't play. If he does play and isn't amazing, folk will go mental, if he doesn't play and Shields or KVV has a bad game (different) folk will go mental. Cannae be doing with that.
-
Yes, because if one was injured the othelp would play central, either Watt or KVV was a good option through the middle but with Watt gone who plays through the middle if KVV is injured. I think Woolery is improving week on week but his end product isn't there yet, Shields isn't going to hold the ball up the way we need so another option is required.

Tony Watt has been very good for us this season, though interestingly Alexander left him out a bit at the start of the year so assuming there's still a bit of issue there. I assume Watt will be away in January and we'll bring someone else in. It's always exciting to see a new striker come in so that's something to look forward to. Ideally early in Jan so we're settled ahead of some big games.

I don't think we were as bad as some on here are making out, we didn't dominate the game but we were well worth the three points. Two brilliant goals from Van Veen. If he'd got the third at the end it would have been an all time classic hat trick. Disappointing to see Sondre go off, thought he was excellent but luckily the break has come. Sitting in 4th at the break, cannae argue.

Shocked that suspension hadn't already been served.

Pre contracts are a pain in the arse no doubt but how you deal with them is something that you really need to do on a player by player basis. If Alan Campbell had his Luton deal done as a pre contract last I'd have had no hesitation in starting him every week just cos of who he is and how he approaches the game. Is Tony Watt the same, I wouldn't say so but do I trust him to do a job today? I don't know. Big call for Alexander.

The covid rules and break are what they are at this point. Big game today and getting 3 points before the break would be brilliant. I'd start the regular front three assuming everyone is fit, not sure on the midfield mix, maybe Slattery, Goss and Donnelly assuming all fit and same back 5 as last week again if available. Quite looking forward to having a couple of cans watching the game on the couch, can't be arsed leaving the house, appreciate that's not how most folk will feel though.

Seems bizarre they are offering so much more than us that it's not worth holding on and waiting to see if a better offer came in from down south.
-
Heading in to the break with 3 games we are very capable of winning. Would be a tremendous points haul if we got another 9 points. No reason we can't finish top 6 this year but if we want to be negative another 3 wins and we're pretty much guaranteed safe from relegation....
-
Slattery being dropped is a strange one, especially with Maguire being unavailable. I'm guessing he's been ill so they don't see him lasting 90 minutes bit don't have many other options.
-
St Mirren game is in question, as is the Dundee United vs Rangers game. There's going to be call offs up here like there already has been down south, whether or not we get affected is anyone's guess. I could see them suspending all games just now and then having the winter break a bit earlier to see of things calm down. Danger then is if they don't calm down and there's a fixture back log.
-
There you go. I'm wrong again....
-
He's shown willingness to move abroad before and I think he's single/without kids so it's not a massive upheaval for him to go abroad again. Maybe a more exotic move could be on the cards. I think we are going to have to replace him, if he moves in January he'll be hard to replace, should get more options for a replacement in the summer.

Campbell playing regularly in the Championship for much more money. Cadden at Hibs could be considered a step up definitely in terms of earnings, his form is picking up again. Do we allow McKinstry getting some games for Leeds? Gorrin getting games at the top end of league one with Oxford until his injury.

Agent leaking a bit of a come and get me story that will get maximum exposure (ie a paper will actually run it) when we're playing Celtic tomorrow. If you're agent wasn't putting stories out when you're top scorer in the league and have 6 months left on a deal they'd be pretty useless.

One season wonder or just difficult to get on with (ie a prick)?
-
Third in the league last year, a cup final last year and a cup final to play in 10 days when you're sitting 6 points off 4th with a game in hand. Harsh on Jack Ross for sure.
-
Interesting that no one has mentioned our post war highest goal scorer John Sutton. Not a great or exciting player, but he put in a shift and scored a load of goals for us. He wouldn't be in my top 5 but thought someone would mention him.
-
I'm pretty sure I dug this out and our record against Celtic over the past 10 years is better than most teams. From my quick check we have 3 wins and 5 draws since season 11/12 Aberdeen have 4 wins and 4 draws. 4 wins and 7 draws for St Johnstone. St Mirren have 1 win and 2 draws. It's not any different from the rest of the league really. I got bored looking after 4 teams but if someone wants to look at it properly then batter in.
-
See the Record is linking Alexander with the Preston job. I'm sure he'd love to get that chance but I don't see them being interested. His record with us is good, but I don't think it's Championship club good. Easy story to put out though and with us playing Celtic at the weekend it will attract more views.

Good wins in the Championship for Kipres West Brom, Alan Campbell's Luton and Hutchinsons Millwall. All 3 ex Well men getting 90 minutes
-
I'd have thought he'd have went with Grimshaw for experience but good to see the manager starting Cornelius. He wasn't put out on loan as he was viewed as a first team option so Alexander has finally made good on it. Big opportunity for him but at least he's coming in to team on a decent run, with confidence and a clear idea of what they want to do.

Seen a few Irish folk who follow LOI properly saying that it's harsh to judge a player coming back off their full season to start with a new club in the middle of their season. I can see the point and think Tierney is signed with season 22/23 in mind.
