We're set up better for winning games against Rangers and Celtic than we have been for a while. We're not reliant on having possession to score, we look to go front to back quickly, we've a threat from set pieces and we don't concede a lot. That said our defence hasn't come up against a team with rangers quality yet but still I can see it being a tight game tomorrow. Might see the "hammer throwers" patter getting dragged back out (it definitely will if we get a result).

Charles Dunne was very highly thought of when he was coming up. The reason he needed up here was because of his injury record. He was a gamble that worked for a while til it didn't. It was the right call not to offer him a deal this time and I do think the club giving injured players new deals on reduced terms is a fair and right thing to do.

I think when you have two keepers genuinely competing for first choice you can't drop a player that's playing well. Like us with Gillespie and Carson. No chance you could have dropped Gillespie when he was playing the way he was.
-
Cheers for that. They must have been really struggling for centre halfs back then.
-
Donnelly not on the bench for Northern Ireland tonight. Hope that's not due to an injury concern. O'Donnell is now the most capped Scotland player for us and for Killie, quite an achievement. I was going to ask how many of Craigens caps did he get while playing for us? But I'm assuming all of them as he wasn't exactly setting the heather alight when he was at Thistle.
-
Yeah, their agents are busy. Hope SOD can get a good performance in, if nothing else than to get him back to match sharpness for us.

Thats an interesting one, would it really come to ticketing/forbidding PATG or would they be allowed a sensible risk assessment/projection. Same way we don't need as many police for a game vs Dundee/County/St Johnstone etc. Could we make an exception for these not being all ticket as the odds of breaking 10k are so long?
-
Bit harsh to punish the club for a decision that's not theirs to make. I'd imagine to avoid the cost of setting up a QR code scanning system etc. We will just cap capacity at 10k. Saves any fall out from it and would only be an issue 4 times a season absolutely maximum and even then unlikely. Though we can worry about it in May for the Scottish cup semi and final.
-
I'd imagine that but with Johansen in for Lamie (as I'm sure I've read he's also a left footer) and with McGinley I for Carrol while he's banned.

It's a fair point from Yodo, this is mostly Alexander's team now he has to live or die by his performances/results. Kelly Ojala Johansen Slattery Goss Woolery Amaluzor Van Veen Roberts Lawless (possibly a question mark there if he was fully his signing) So other than the full backs he's brought in a full new team. Let's see what they can do.

I see Ali Crawford has went to St Johnstone and Leigh Griffiths to Dundee. I wouldn't have minded Crawford but I know a fair few on here would be against it. I'm glad we didn't go for Griffiths.
-
Well think that was expected. Burrows said we expected 2 so one more, and Alexander said he didn't expect anyone out the door (but he would have to say that so not taking much from that). Still expecting to see O'Donnell leave after his recent stomach bug that doesn't stop him training with Scotland.
-
Don't know anything about the lad but hardly a goalscorer that said he's been getting a lot of games and at a good level so don't see why he wouldn't do a job for us.
-
Yup, seems strange to say coming off back to back wins and with no major injury worries but the international break is coming at a good time as it should let Alexander come up with the plan for how he wants us to set up and drill it in to the players.
-
We were never really under the cosh but I was very nervy every time they had the ball in our half. Lamie had a couple of mistakes but apart from that he was solid and Grimshaw gave plenty of energy and drive. For two players that were given a hard time by a lot on here they were among our better players the day.

First game back for me so really looking forward to today, though the memory of the 1-0 loss to Dundee when Clarkson scored for them still haunts me as possibly the worst game of football I've ever seen. Also taking my 3 old wean for his first game so good chance I'll see very little football played. Alexander didn't sound confident about O'Donnell so maybe same team as lay week, maybe Van Veen in for Amaluzor?
-
Seen a few Shrewsbury fans saying they were disappointed to see him go on twitter. Mostly along the lines of "he's not amazing but he's better than what we've got now". So that's promising. Though he did reject their deal in May so he's not been playing since then.
-
40 games in league one down south over the past 2 seasons, odds are he's not a world beater but he's also perfectly capable of being a solid SPL player. We need solid midfield options, he seems to be that. I can't mind him playing at St Johnstone but maybe someone who paid more attention will be able to offer better insight.
-
Just saw that there. Anyone out we think?
-
I can see it bit of loan wheeling and dealing going on. Clubs down south really finalising their squads and knowing who's excess getting shunted out. Who and how many depends on if O'Donnell stays or not. I'd imagine another midfielder and someone that can play across the front three coming in with a right back as well if O'Donnell leaves.
-
Thats essentially what I'm saying. He was a perfectly decent mid table SPL keeper who made a few howlers. Better than the likes of Neilsen, Hollis etc. Not as good as Randolph, Carson, Kelly etc.
-
I'm pretty sure they both did. Thats not to say either were good goalies. Woods made a few notable and timely cock ups that really soured him to many well fans of a certain generation. If it wasn't for those cock ups and being one of the weaker players in a good motherwell team he'd barely be remembered, like a Graeme Smith level of notable.
-
I assume we're going 3-4-3 that becomes a 5-4-1 at times. Really need Watt to have a great game to make that work.
-
Aye, turns out having twice as many people willing to buy your product means that you make more money. Don't know if Scott would start there most weeks, and what he needs now is games. EDIT: Didn't realise Doidge was out for so long. This move makes more sense knowing that
