I’ve never met the guy and I understand folks view from interviews he’s done but about 15 years ago my brother had a hospitality table at Parkhead and took a few of our mates and my dad. TB came over to the table and sat with them for more than 15 minutes talking about his time at Motherwell and talking to my dad about ex players who were about the club doing hospitality when he was there which made my dads day. My brother says he was a good guy who showed real affection for Motherwell and what we did for his career. He also says they were all having a good laugh until a Celtic employee came over and told TB that there were plenty of tables of Celtic supporters wanting to talk with him and as he got up he said awe well back to work then, it was a pleasure talking to you guys. So for that I give him a lot of leeway.

stv, we played both these guys together in the semi final, unfortunately the tactics were wrong and we kept sending long high balls up to them instead of down the channels for them to chase. Can play three forwards if you want but if we don’t play to their strengths we’re fecked every time. Will SK and the rest of the team have learnt? I doubt it.

First half we had plenty of possession but constantly played it backwards so not putting pressure on RC, second half they’ve shown how to attack and deserve their lead. Also nothing going right for the players today, nothing is working for them.

TBH I can live with that.

Sorry but I’d argue that if it’s postponed ticket refunds would be available to anyone who wanted it. I understand that some people may have bought tickets before we knew about the weather and that’s where I’d like to see both clubs come to some agreement regarding refunds if the tickets are not used.

What’s the point of undersoil heating if you’re going to cancel games because 300 - 500 fans can’t - or shouldn’t - travel up? If the parks playable then it should go ahead. The cost to RC and Motherwell to rearrange to midweek and the reduction in fans would be stupid - I’d be raging if we had to cancel because a couple of hundred RC fans couldn’t make it down here. That said I hope everyone is safe.

A few thoughts, LM wanted to play u19’s and will have learned more from those 90 minutes than he would training with the seniors and then sitting on the bench. He - probably rightly -wouldn’t have got on in front of McGinn who’s on the bench. MJ should be starting. Clarke is a numpty.

Recent times? The guys the same age as me, left Motherwell in 1985, 39 years ago - reminds me of the time I was talking to my kids about the miners strike and said you must have covered this in modern studies and they said don’t be daft it’s more than 30 years ago - that’s done in history! Apart from that, he was definitely the best midfielder we’ve produced in my time watching Motherwell and that’s taking nothing away from DT and LM.

At the moment Motherwell are doing their bit but if the talent isn’t there that will stop - although SOD, McGinn, Halliday and Watt all had high praise for a few of the youngsters coming through the other night. So here’s hoping we will be seeing more home grown talent for the next couple of seasons at least which in turn could lead to others joining the youth setup as they see a pathway to first team football at a younger age than what the OF offer.

£5.3m is a good starting point as others will be interested and I don’t see him staying in Scotland. The biggest concern is when he goes as if he stays until the end of the season - or is loaned back if sold at the next window - top six is a distinct possibility with top 4 within our grasp if others play to their potential but losing him in January would dent that.

Would have been up there with Jutkiewicz's equaliser against Hibs. Turned to my brother and said that would have been a goal of the season contender.
-
When I seen him do that on Saturday my hamstring felt a twang, gawd I’m getting old
-
Thought it was a penalty all day long, thought Halliday’s hand was up beside his face and if it had been the other way I’d have been expecting a penalty. will check the highlights and correct if I’m wrong.

Aye ok Scully.

More of the same from you sadly.

I’ll start by saying I’m not looking for SK to be sacked as avoiding relegation, reaching a semi final and having us in the top half of the league are the things that I want to see our manager achieving in a season and so far he’s ticking the boxes well. Now the rub, what I’d also like and expect to see - at least on occasions - is a team that plays a style of football that has me leaving the game buzzing and looking forward to the next game. Unfortunately I feel I’m leaving most games feeling that we’re slowly grinding our way to premiership survival and hoping that what we are watching improves. We see glimpses of some of the talent we have but frustratingly for me in attack our midfield and forward lines seldomly click. This is where my issues with SK and the club hierarchy are, SK is a young manager who I believe needs guidance but with no director of football who’s doing this? I’ve read stories of manager’s talking about being in contact with their ex managers who were successful managers and taking advice from them but I don’t think SK has this so is there something he and the club can do to help him improve as a manager rather then him learning as he goes? Maybe quietly and without publicity pay an older experienced manager to mentor him?

Motherwell v Rangers League Cup Semi final Nov 2/3
Stuwell2 replied to TheoBair14's topic in Club Chat
Not going to bother reading all the comments from yesterday as I’ve no doubt most will be along the same lines as my view which is Given our injuries it was probably the correct line up. Given how poor Rangers have been sitting back was the wrong tactics. Was expecting us to try and run at their defence especially Tavenier, not punt long balls that the two central defenders lapped up leaving our forwards useless - totally pissed off. As usual with us when we are involved in big games our youth and inexperienced squad don’t handle it well. Substitutions - WTF? -
Always
-
Hope he gets a game in the semi final as I think with him and Wilson pressuring Tavenier we could get some luck on that side of the park.
-
Was it not Hong Kong? Or am I thinking of a different ex player to you?
-
And didn’t get injured.
-
Definitely not getting carried away but we’re 1/3rd of the way to premiership safety and have reached a cup semifinal without having fielded what is supposed our “best team”. No doubt a dip will come but credit to the management and team and hopefully the good times continues.

Slow to everything and very poor passing from everyone.

Previously thought about the school and two options that I thought of were shear fantasies but 1. if the school site was available (and cash available in some form) then turn the park 90 degrees, extend or rebuild the Cooper stand making it the new main or Hunter stand with the other opposite, where the POD is would then be the Cooper for home supporters and finally the away stand at Dazell drive end. 2. New POD and Hunter stands of similar size to the Cooper and joining all 3 together. Due to the lack of depth of the Hunter, would it be possible to have the rear top of the stand overhang the carpark of the school? Would also lose one of the Astro parks as well. In front of the houses at the POD proper disabled facilities with a media centre above it, which shouldn’t be high enough to block planning.

I’m definitely not a fan of moving away from FP but if it happens - wether I agree or not - then I will follow, really don’t get your thought process on not going to a new stadium, maybe you could explain it please? I agree that we’re not moving (or planning to rebuild FP) at the moment but I believe thats probably more down to lack of cash rather than anything else - although if I win the euro on Friday that may change
