Agree that “Colin’s” was not the best term to use (stupid being even worse) and being a backer of the society I can’t give you the complete view of those who thought the Barmack deal was the way forward but from discussing over the last year with some who did I can give you my view of their thoughts then and now. At the time - and I think this is generally agreed - the club needed investment (the “Miller Millions” has changed that for the moment but wasn’t an option at the time) the Barmack deal and society deals were the only two options. Initially most were willing to look serious at the Barmack deal but when the details were revealed most rejected it. Those that I’ve spoken to mostly concede that in hindsight the rejection was probably correct but also say - probably correctly - that the society has failed to follow up with their investment plan/promise, so without the Miller money the club would have been in the same or worse financial position as before the bid and I find that hard to argue against apart for being able to say we’re still a fan owned club without having to worry that Barmack could have stripped our assets to get his cash back and folded the club. In my discussions I’ve managed to get at least one of them to restart their society contributions and hope that more will start again using the argument that the society money is for emergencies and not the day to day running of the club and as things are going well at the club the society’s bank balance should be slowly increasing putting us in a better position for any future downturn. I’d like to personally add that the society board -and to a lesser extent the club board- needs to use this time and feel good factor to find ways to generate maximum income for the club and not just rely on the increased attendance money.

I hear the board and JBA have turned down an offer from Manchester United
-
Knowing that shower they will be dreaming of emulating SAF’s glories

I recon that we’re pulling in an extra £10K a week but there’s also an extra outlay in win bonuses so I’m not so sure we’re making that much to sweeten anything.
-
Would love to see a couple of contract extensions, hopefully work being done on this af the moment.
-
I’m not worried about anything, was just replying to folk thinking that it’s easy to say no to offers and players leaving. Personally I’d be looking to sell Slattery and leave the rest until the summer.
-
Wouldn’t be surprised if JBA plays a totally different type of game as Hibs might set up to negate how we played last time. Screwing with the oppositions manager and players minds it something JBA excels at.
-
Never said there definitely will be clauses, was using it as an example of how the don’t sell anyone stuff ain’t clear cut. Also fuckin someone over if you break a verbal agreement won’t go down well and would damage our reputation and relationships with present players and potential signings. .
-
I think Slattery is the only one out of contract but others are going into their final year so it’s the correct time to sell them if we can’t get them to sign an extension. Add to that others might attract bids on their performances this year and a few players leaving isn’t an outrageous statement.
-
It’s all and well saying we don’t need to sell so don’t but if the players contract has a sell clause, another team offers the correct amount and the player want the move how do we stop that without upsetting the player and running the risk of putting off future players by not honouring our side of the contract? Not saying that it will happen but things are never clear cut and as such we need to trust in the board that whatever happens it’s done for the best reason.

Am feeling a wee but sorry for the Kaiser Chiefs and it’s not all about the money for me so I’d accept £4M.
-
The only players we should actively be trying to sell/move on are those not in JBA’s plans and anyone out of contract in the summer that we have adequate cover for. All other player should only be sold if the price is too good to pass up and a replacement can be found.

As usual the parochial rumours only have our players linked to the arse cheek’s. Plenty of time for others to show an interest so let’s ignore these rumours.

12 hours in and 2026 steelmen online joke of the year goes to MJC

Wednesdays attendance was 11435, 4500 away fans, hospitality hoching with them but I’d reckon 6000+ Well fans.
-
A case of aye you’re right but so are we, ref fucked up but VAR didn’t - arse covering exercise of the highest degree.
-
Texas, Maeda was played through the middle which was a tactical gift to us and was ineffective there.
-
Finding a striker who fits our style, is hard working, can find the net and isn’t getting game time at his own club ain’t going to be easy.
-
Listening across tv and radio last night not one of the pundits had anything but good words for us and I didn’t hear anything about us being lucky against a poor Celtic team.
-
Very difficult game, SR knows how to set up a team not to lose, they’re a team we’ve failed to beat this season and last night they could have walked away from Ibrox with a point. That said hopefully we can get the 3 points but it won’t be easy.
-
Every player played their part which was dictated to them by JBA so I’m not going to single out anyone they all deserve it.
-
Absolutely gutted that I wasn’t able to attend the game tonight, but for all of times I’ve seen us go close only to watch it go tits up and leave feeling sick, watching the game on tv - although no where near as good as it was for those there - it was an amazing feeling and the interview with Jens after the game is something everyone should try and watch.
-
If this is reality then there must be two sets of officials who cover only one side of the arse cheeks each or all the officials are in league with each other to ensure only the OF get anything. There might have been a degree of this in the past but I doubt that it’s like that today. How does that theory stand up beside the other crazy decisions - if you want examples I will give you examples but I’m sure you know plenty yourself - given against us when playing other teams? Unfortunately it’s just piss poor officials, some possibly with personal allegiances, who cover each others ineptitude. I’ve said before the only way to get proper VAR in Scotland is to have VAR HQ sited in another country overseen by foreign officials assisted by ex players with no affiliation with any Scottish team.

I’d love to see us get a big commanding CB who also causes opposition defenders a problem at set pieces - one can but dream

Re payments it appears what I was thinking about is a solidarity payment which is distributed as This 5% is then distributed proportionally among all clubs that trained the player between the ages of 12 and 23 There are calls to increase this to 8% aside from that I also came across this from the union of European clubs - whoever they are - which proposes a player development reward which won’t generate much for us at the moment but is a good idea This policy calls for UEFA to allocate at least 5% of its annual Club Competition revenues to a new financial mechanism that would directly benefit clubs that train and develop the players competing in UEFA Club Competitions, regardless of whether those clubs are participating themselves.
