Okay well, I don’t think I ever did actually say that “we were definitely going down” at any point since I came back on these forums, but if you can provide any evidence otherwise then be my guest. Or indeed that I said that “every fucking week since I came back” as you claim. In a match thread discussing the game I have said nothing unreasonable whatsoever, I’ve just given my views as I see the them. So, if you disagree with anything that I have said in regards to tonight’s poor performance and result then let’s hear it, otherwise YOU wring your knickers out and wind your neck in.

I don’t think we will be relegated simply on the back of that debacle, but if that doesn’t raise concerns then I’d say that you are kidding yourselves.
-
Fans like you are the biggest problem that we as a club have. “Let’s just accept getting beat by our lower league local rivals cos they scored two great goals and the pitch was hard tae play oan”. I’m glad you aren’t embarrassed by that shambles.
-
See to be honest, as bad as tonight is I genuinely don’t think we can use this as a gauge as to how our season will go. We do have genuine concerns ahead of the new season but Motherwell teams over the years, no matter how good or bad, ability wise have (almost) always fell short in derby games like this. That’s not me trying to excuse what’s happened tonight but unfortunately it just seems like a very ‘Motherwell’ type result.

Perhaps but it can’t be denied that he’s been excellent for us and has more than proved himself at the level we play at. He’s not to blame for us losing tonight, it’s more down to our poor attitude in these type of games. As I type, 2-0 Airdrie. My point is proven.

That's harsh on Kelly tbh, but I'd certainly say that that's the risk when you have no midfield and aren't as 'up for it' as your opponents are. The latter is something that is all too common in these Lanarkshire derby games.
-
Game over. Pathetic stuff.
-
We have been second best so far, Airdrie have outfought us.
-
Lively start from both sides. Proper derby game so far.
-
Indeed, though we were seeded in both 2017 and 2019 and drew Premiership opposition in the last 16 both times so being seeded doesn’t guarantee a decent draw.

As sure as night follows day. Since the format changed in 2016 we have been paired against a top flight side in the League Cup knockout stages in every single draw we’ve been in. Our luck in Cup draws is utterly staggering at times. As for tonight I’m not confident and I reckon it’ll be a hard slog. I hate facing any of the other Lanarkshire sides especially in Cup games as we almost (I repeat and emphasise ALMOST* in case any pedantic poster, naming no names, chooses to remind me that we have won league games and Cup ties against Airdrie and Accies in the past) always make life difficult for ourselves in these games and in truth no result will surprise me tonight. *for the avoidance of doubt, the word almost can be defined as “nearly, not quite” and therefore by using it I am acknowledging that we don’t make life difficult for ourselves against these sides EVERY single time we face them.

Went for Watt just ahead of Woolery. Watt has been heavily criticised at his previous clubs for a poor attitude but since he's been with us he's given nothing but 100% and today was no exception. He more than deserved his goal.

I agree with the above posts. While there were and still are valid concerns over the first half showing and the season ahead, there is also cause for optimism for the way in which we managed to not only get back in the game but to go on and win it in 90 minutes too. When you consider last season it took us until the last week in January to even score an equalising goal in any competition then it suggests there is an improvement in the team’s character that we can come back from a poor first half showing and a 2-0 deficit to get the win, even if it is against a lower league side. The timing of the first and third goals was crucial for us, early in the 2nd half to pull it back to 1-2 and almost straight after we equalised to go 3-2 ahead. We need to address the midfield asap and as has already been said we need more options up front, though van Veen looked promising today and Woolerly made a huge difference when he came on. Onwards to Airdrie in the derby on Wednesday night.

I love games like that, as long as we win.
-
Considering where we were at half time that is a great result and delighted for the lucky fans who got into Fir Park today.
-
Subbed off for McGinley now. We’re obviously settling for 3-2.
-
Superb character to turn this around. No more daft mistakes at the back now.
-
2-2!! Now let’s get this won before penalties.
-
Agree that that’s what we need but we’ve needed a decent quality forward player/goalscorer since Louis Moult left nearly four years ago now. Our recent attempts at signing forward players has been woeful. Our best effort was Danny Johnson yet he was never given a proper chance.
-
Just what we needed! Get in there!

I know negativity is often frowned at on here but it is impossible to be anything but after that first half showing. On that evidence we are in serious bother this season. However, if there are any positives to take so far then I suppose it’s only half time so still time to get back in it, an early goal in the second half is a must. We’ve also not finished in the transfer market but the signs are that big, big improvements are needed to that team before the season starts in earnest.

0-2. Horrific stuff.
-
We have seen that type of goal conceded all too often over the past couple of years. A simple cross into the area, our defence stands flat footed and we are punished for it.

0-1 QoS Great to be back eh!
