  1. Genuinely forgot Leeann Dempster was at Queen’s Park now until I heard her interviewed on Radio Scotland.
  2. Glad to have the real football back. Need to start with a win tonight, nothing less is acceptable. 3-1 ‘Well with Bob McHugh inevitably scoring for them.
  3. If I remember correctly that was actually our third strip for that season? Our away kit that year was white, we wore it in the majority of the League Cup run including the final.
  4. Unless we win one of the Cups in it…
  5. Yeah we’ve went from two absolutely cracking away kits to that. Really disappointing.
  6. ‘Livingston’ is the first word that came to mind when I saw it. Hopefully it will grow on me but first impression is that that’s an awful Motherwell FC away kit.
  7. Delighted with that news. Superb signing and even more so that it’s a three year deal.
  8. I’d really like to see Carson establish himself as No.1 again but sadly I think he’s finished. It’s a shame for him as he’s had a horrendous time of it over the last few years with illness and injury but I don’t think we can be looking at him to be our first choice goalkeeper going forward.

I don’t think it was simply down to the fact that he never smiled that got supporters backs up. It was more that he wasn’t contributing as much as he potentially could in games while his face was tripping him that riled people. As I said he was a decent player but just didn’t show it enough and wasn’t nearly good enough to get away with such an attitude. To draw a comparison, Scott McDonald was often a torn faced, whinging arse on the park and he frequently took the huff, but he compensated for it by working his arse off and being a quality player who was excellent in both spells for us. Thus while it was frustrating watching him throw his hands up and growl about the park, you knew that while he was on there he was always likely to contribute to the team.

Decent player, has a ability but unfortunately also has a stinking attitude.
  11. Exactly, there is absolutely no point in comparing the two signings. Vardy was a proven goalscorer, albeit in the conference league and scored 34 goals in 42 appearances for Fleetwood when Leicester signed him. We appear to have signed another - ANOTHER - forward/winger who can no doubt “play anywhere across the front three” and doesn’t boast a good track record of goal scoring. That’s what we’ve been crying out for for nearly four years now(a goalscorer that is). While I fully accept that going out and signing such a player is easier said than done, especially on our budget, what I cannot understand is why we seem to keep signing the same type of player when it’s patently obvious that that’s not what we need and it hasn’t exactly worked out for us in recent times with the several similar type of players that we’ve brought in. Hylton, Seedorf, Aarons spring to mind. Considering we’re forever being reminded how meagre our budget is then it’s highly important that we use it wisely.
  12. Another forward/winger from the arse end of the English leagues. I had hoped we’d moved away from this type of signing now that Robinson is away but it would appear not. Thoroughly uninspiring signing. That said, best of luck to the boy and hopefully I’ll be eating my words.

    Painfully so unfortunately.

It was a great strike, so I think a bit unfair to blame him. As I said you can make a case for the ‘defending’ in the run up to it, and Jack Hendry(?) has to take a lot more blame for that than Marshall.

Well that’s that for this tournament for Scotland I’m afraid. Far too negative a line up there and got what they deserved. If anything they’ve got Marshall to thank for keeping the score line respectable with some really good saves. Can’t blame him for either goals either, you can question the defending in the build up but both cracking finishes. On a side note, James McFadden’s commentary was horrific. Ten minutes to go, 0-2 down and he’s like a wee boy at his first ever football match all bright eyed and innocent giving it “all we need is a goal here da’ we can still do it”. Dismal stuff.

I can’t believe I’m reading this. He was always a reasonable and very knowledgeable guy especially when it came to Motherwell FC and although I never met him in person I always hugely respected his views on here, even if we didn’t always agree on matters. As has already been said, he was ‘the voice of reason’ on these forums.
  17. Each to their own but in my view a Motherwell home kit should always have claret shorts. Our colours are Claret & Amber, I don’t see the need for white myself but I know that it’s popular with plenty. Hopefully there’ll be a sponsor free version available to buy.
  18. Claret shorts and a proper band/hoop! That is what I call a proper Motherwell FC home kit. The only thing I’m not so keen on is the white trimmings but apart from that that is a very nice kit.
  19. Absolutely, it’s been a massive game changer for players of all clubs not having supporters to play in front of. I find it hard/awkward enough just watching a game on TV or stream with no crowd there, so god knows what it’s like for the players. Sadly it’s something we’ll all need to get used to as I don’t see fans returning to grounds up here any time soon, certainly not in this calendar year.
  20. I know not everyone agrees, but if there is any possibility of signing Lafferty we should be snapping him up. Likewise Tshibola and Mulumbu.
  21. There is little to no chance of fans being back inside stadiums by July, Covid cases are rising sharply again. But that aside at would be good to play Airdrie again, as long as we beat them.
  22. I don't see us signing him as I suspect we'd struggle to meet his wage demands, but he's definitely a player that would be worth taking a gamble on if it was possible. We've been needing a goalscorer since Moult left almost four years ago now.
  23. Killie down, perhaps Lafferty will be looking to stay in the top flight right enough? On a side note it will be strange not having Kilmarnock in the top flight next season. They've not been in the top league quite as long as us but with them being a similar sized club you always kind of took for granted that they'd be there.
  24. He’s the type of player you hate when he plays against you but love to have in your side, a bit like Scott McDonald. He is a proven goal scorer at our level and a bit of gamesmanship can often work in your favour. I’d take him in a heartbeat.
