    Theo Bair

A thoroughly uninspiring signing who looked thoroughly uninspiring for his first few months or so. But his workrate was never in question and he has been without doubt a much improved player since mid to late December and has clearly grown in confidence and is now a key part of the team that we wouldn’t want to be without. I like him.
  2. I’ll look forward to seeing those posts then. I don’t think it’ll be representative of the whole Hearts support but it’ll be interesting to see posts like that nonetheless. I don’t have any kind of ‘hard-on’ for Hearts or any other club other than Motherwell. As I’ve said before, I respect Hearts as a club and admire their support and their fans loyalty to their club. There’s not many, if any, clubs in Scotland have as passionate and loyal support as Hearts do. We won, that is the main thing and you’re right about that. And each to their own. For me though, while winning at Ibrox at last was special and nothing else that happened this weekend could top that, Celtic and Rodgers losing to Hearts and thereby squandering their chance to go back to the top of the league is an extra and we’ll appreciated bonus. 👍
  3. Yes if you want. As I said I’m not trying to be awkward here, I’m genuinely interested. If you have seen posts by Hearts fans on social media and can show me those posts then fair enough. I would have to disagree though that they have a leaning in one particular direction. Most Hearts fans I know, in fact, ANY Hearts fan that I’ve ever known has only ever had a leaning towards Hearts and no one else. I’ve said this before on these forums, Hearts fans support their club through thick and thin and tend not to care what any one else thinks of them. And as for that ‘Billy Boys’ chant. That used to be quite common place at Fir Park back in the late 80s/early 90s. It’s not now thankfully as I wouldn’t want that to be something which was sung at our ground. It’s not a very nice song, to put it lightly. But I still don’t think that the Motherwell fans who sang that back in the day had ‘Rangers preferences’. They might have been a bit misguided and ignorant (to put it mildly) but I don’t question their support for Motherwell FC. And I think the same goes for those in the Hearts support who did/do the same. I think the best way to go about things is to just support your own club in your own way and not to give to shits about either Celtic or Rangers.
  4. Do you have any evidence of Hearts fans posting stuff like that? I’m not being awkward or argumentative btw, it’s a genuine question. I can’t speak for anyone else but any Hearts fan I’ve ever known has only ever been interested in what is best for their club and they certainly don’t have any preference or leaning towards either OF club.
  5. And Brendan is raging. Dribbling on about VAR and referee decisions. Even better! After the way he was all smug and condescending about us rightly being aggrieved about the decisions in the 2017 League Cup Final and the game at Fir Park the following Wednesday I will never, ever tire of seeing this arsehole being gutted and getting a taste of his own medicine. Choke on it Rodgers.
  6. And Celtic bottle it against Hearts at Tynecastle. Could this weekend get any better? As the Tynecastle sound system is now blaring out #Oh, ho, ho it’s Magic You know oh ho# Get it right up them, their odious fans and that prick Rodgers.
  7. It was a Coyle double at Ibrox in May ‘97. Second one was a late penalty. Mickey Weir scored in a 2-0 win away to Celtic later the same year but the following season. Coyle did score that day too.
  8. No longer the last Motherwell player to score a league winner against Rangers. About time too!
  9. I’m sure most thought the same and when they equalised today I certainly expected only one outcome. And plenty of Motherwell teams over the past two decades would have crumbled and lost at that point so huge credit to this group and the manager for never mind not losing but actually going on to get the win!
  10. And the change kit which is much maligned by some will forever be associated with winning at Ibrox. You think the Pony all white kit and think of Owen Coyle day The fluorescent kit and Eliphas Shivute at Ibrox in a 2-2 draw and Willie Falconer covered in mud after scoring the winner at Fir Park And this seasons will be remembered for Theo Bair and Dan Casey turning Rangers over.
  11. We certainly weren’t today, anything but. After 21 years of failing to beat Rangers in the league, almost 27 years without a league win at Ibrox and over six years since we last beat them in the LCSF I genuinely believed that we would never beat them, or Celtic, ever again. I dare say I wasn’t alone in that. But today we have and it was absolutely epic. After all the years of “they’re there for the taking” and “it’s the worst Rangers side since bla, bla, bla we’ll never have a better chance” and us always falling short plus the hard luck stories of last minute missed penalties, goals wrongly chalked off, cue the patronising and self assurance that we played well but were so unlucky etc, we have FINALLY taken three points and left them with nothing. Today was a long, long time coming and I hope that every Motherwell fan is thoroughly enjoying their night tonight.
  12. Why not just enjoy our first league win against Rangers in over twenty years? That’s three posts you’ve made since FT and every one about me. Come on man, there’s more important things to talk about tonight surely?
  13. That pisses all over getting beat 0-3 on agg against Panathinaikos in thr CL qualifiers.
  14. He’s succeeded where so many before him have failed in getting a league win v.Rangers. Butcher, McCall, McGhee, Brown all failed. Results like that are what makes all the shite ones feel worth it and are the type that live long in the memory. Well done Stuart Kettlewell and the players.
  15. I’m sure they’ll both be as delighted as every other ‘Well fan is tonight. Incidentally this is the first time since these forums came into existence, firstly as welltrust.net and then steelmenonline that a league victory over Rangers has been discussed and celebrated. A big day all round!
  16. Absolutely! All these folk who say that beating one of the OF doesn’t matter and that’ it’s just another three points etc. Come on! Tell me that that doesn’t feel ten million times better than a win against Livi or Ross County!
  17. Just get VAR to fuck. An absolute scourge on football.
  18. Just like last week great to be ahead but you just know what’s coming. Bair has come on leaps and bounds since Christmas.
  19. For games against the OF I think we do lack bottle as a club. Regardless of who the manager is or what players we have our mentality in these games is wrong. Forget narrowly losing to Celtic in September, we still lost. Forget almost scraping a draw against Celtic last week, we didn’t, we still lost. It is over twenty years since we recorded a league victory over Rangers and our last win against them was over six years ago. It’s over eight years since we beat Celtic in any competition. I know we are not going to compete against either of them over the course of a season but it does my head in seeing other sides manage to pick up results against them here and there while we never can these days. Please don’t anyone try and raise me games from the 1990s or when it was still legal to smoke indoors to support an argument that our record against the OF isn’t as bad as I am making out. It is. It clearly is and I would give anything for that to change today, as unlikely as it is.
  20. A point tomorrow would be tremendous. Three would be out of this world stuff. They’ll have too much for us unfortunately and we don’t have the quality or the bottle to get anything.
  21. We all would. Sadly money talks.
