  1. I’m sure it isn’t. Any genuine Motherwell fan would never be miserable when we’re winning. Unfortunately we have won once in eighteen league games so it’s hard to gauge how anyone’s mood is when we’re “winning games” just now.
  2. It’s “Hear, Hear”. I’m pleased for Bair too, his effort and workrate is never in question. It’s just a pity we don’t have a goal scoring striker to play alongside him.
  3. Hard to defend him and the team to be honest. That stat is horrendous and regardless of how ‘well’ we played today doesn’t change it. Obviously with other results going our way today then we have gained a point on our rivals but there is literally nothing to get our spirits up about. We are guff and we are pinning our hopes on other sides being more shite than we are. It’s all just fucking awful. So, so fucking bad.
  4. Another game another failure to win. It’s not good enough.
  5. He’s not done too much wrong from what I’ve seen. He’s not been great but no one has.
  6. Only positives so far are that Ross County and Livingston are both losing.
  7. At least when Hartley was here we had Aldred in defence who was significantly better than any of our current options.
  8. Same shite different week. And another ridiculously long VAR check to confirm the inevitable.
  9. Halliday starts, by the looks of things at left back. Nicholson and Elliot on the bench.
  10. That wasn’t a prediction though? It was a hope.
  11. Of course you can express your opinion and I wouldn’t want you or anyone to think that I was suggesting that you shouldn’t. My point about Jim Gannon was that he seemed/seems to be a bit of an extreme example with some of our fans and that I find that baffling. He was here for six months, started off well and it seemed like an exciting and different type of appointment initially. But in reality that’s all it was. By the start of November ‘09 and up until his departure, his ‘feuds’ with the media/the SFA/referees and his general demeanour and comments about “juggling soot” suggested that he just didn’t have any enthusiasm for the job anymore and it was no surprise when he left. Then of course it started to come out from the club and senior players that he was applying for other jobs and was pretty much a nightmare to work with. I don’t think that the situations with Alexander or Kettlewell are in any way similar to that of Gannon.
  12. Re: Gannon, it never ceases to amaze me that he still has Motherwell fans talking him up and saying they wish he had stuck around. Even now that we’re now what? fourteen years on from his departure after his SIX month spell in charge?! It was fairly obvious from around late October/early November of his tenure that he was working his ticket and didn’t want to be here and he’s done nothing in his career since to suggest that he would have worked wonders for us. And that’s before you take into account what several of the players who worked under him here said about him in the aftermath of his departure.
  13. That’s true and yes it is much easier to say he’s been a failure after six months of him being here rather than when he signed. Every signing we make is a gamble, I know that and I accept it. But regardless of what I or anyone else thought before he had kicked a ball for us the fact in the matter is that this is another signing made during the summer that didn’t work out. The manager and the head of scouting are the ones paid to take responsibility for signings and are in a better position than anyone in the support or this forum to judge a player, or so you would hope anyway.
  14. We probably will but it will be lower than the number we would take had it been played at 1500 on the Saturday. And with one less day to prepare after the Ross County home game then it is less than ideal for us.
  15. Moved to the Friday night live on BBC Scotland. ☹️
  16. Another failure from Kettlewell and Daws. And another January window trying to rectify atrocious recruitment from the previous summer. We can’t keep going through this cycle every single year.
  17. We could do with St.Johnstone losing to Aberdeen tonight too. I know that that would see Aberdeen pull further away from us but let’s face it, that was always going to happen. St.Johnstone though will likely remain in the mix with us, Ross County and Livingston until the end of the season. As for Saturday I can only see us getting a draw at best.
  18. Perhaps given his injury record but we aren’t blessed with options up front and we need to address this asap.
  19. A potential captain in the middle of the park? That’s something we’ve been badly lacking for a while now. I’ve never been a fan of the goalkeeper being the captain and if, as I would expect, Kelly moves on in the summer then Halliday might be a good shout for the armband next season.
  20. Considering that Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Kilmarnock have all effectively got byes to the Quarters then that’s a given unfortunately. It will be very difficult bordering on impossible for us to get any further than the last eight but there’s no guarantee that we’ll get past Morton. This tie could well be 2024’s and Kettlewell’s Raith Rovers.
  21. Callan Elliot signed until the end of the season. A full back apparently and a New Zealand internationalist. I won’t lie, my initial thought when seeing his name was that it was Callum Elliot and I’ve still got bad memories of loaning him under Malpas in 06/07
  22. A good away day for the travelling support. Hopefully this is played at 3pm on the Saturday and we’ll take a good number through there and fill out the ‘Wee Dublin’ end with the big crane behind it. Won’t be an easy game though, we’re not good enough to expect it to be easy against a Championship side especially away from home. Hopefully we will have some reinforcements up front by the time this comes around but I won’t hold my breath on that one.
  23. Yes they will. Anyone who wants one will get one.
