To be honest, I just don’t trust Motherwell to win Cup ties. Not just this one, but any cup tie. Even if we were clear in 3rd place in the top flight and seven unbeaten I still wouldn’t trust us to win ties like tonight. We have an inbuilt loser mentality as a club and I’ve seen us blow too many opportunities in cups to ever be truly confident. Needless to say I desperately want us to win tonight. I’m not interested in a good spectacle, or the romance of the Cup or the likeliness of lower league sides beating top flight sides in Cup competitions statistically or by the balance of probabilities or any of that nonsense. Cup ties are all about winning and that’s all I am interested in.

That’s fair enough. But at the same time it’s also the decent thing to do to give our own youth players their chance rather than loans that haven’t worked previously, for whatever reason.
-
Which is a slap in the face to Ferrie IMO. Youngster or not he can’t offer us any less than Shaw? Surely?
-
Yes, plenty. Indeed the last one was just under a year ago when I watched us capitulate to Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy. A Cup run is important to us as a club and the support, as a whole, want to see us go as far as possible and would say that that is equally as important as league form. With two wins in twenty if we lose to a lower league side in the Cup for the second season running then that will not go down well with the support.

Me, Steelboy and Yoda. 😐

It’s not a sash it’s a band. “The band Hearts Andy wore” ♥️ If we go out of the Scottish Cup to a lower league side again then the pressure will rightly be cranked up on the manager.
-
I have the fear big time for this one. Hopefully SK keeps the same team, if possible, but if he makes unnecessary changes and we go out then the pressure will be right back on him. I stand by my prediction of us to wear our change kit even though we don’t need to (I know, I know, commercial reasons etc) and for us to lose.

An excellent night. A much needed win and by a far bigger winning margin than anyone would have thought, but thoroughly deserved. Andy Halliday put in a great contribution until he went off, took his goal well and was solid. A great penalty from Thelonius Bair! He’s brimming with confidence And without a doubt Blair Spittal’s finest performance in our colours. A good night all round 😁
-
Wow! That was tremendous.
-
Halliday injured?
-
Super penalty. That’s a sign of a player full of confidence.
-
Good stuff so far. We’re by far the better side and deserve our 2-0 lead. This one is there for us, we need to keep at it.
-
Andrew WILLIAM HALLIDAY!!!!!!!! Get in there big man!!!
-
I don’t get it either. Still as long as we get the three points tonight it’s not a big deal and you’d hope that given that that team played okay on Saturday then they’d be capable of doing the same and going one better tonight.
-
Unchanged lineup from Saturday.
-
Which is why tonight is "must win" regardless of what anyone says. One win in nineteen and playing a side below us in the league at home before away games against Aberdeen and Hearts and then at home to Celtic. We won't win any of those games but we can and MUST win tonight.
-
Morton also went to East End Park yesterday and thrashed Dunfermline 5-0. There's not a hope in hell we could do that. They will definitely fancy their chances against us and rightly so.
-
If we can’t beat Ross County at home then I think we’re in serious trouble. We have improved but we’ve a long way to go yet and we now need victories rather than draws. One league win in nineteen is relegation form and although we are also on a run of one loss in seven if we don’t start turning draws into wins then it’s going to become more and more of a mental stumbling block and, more importantly, we risk being sucked into the playoff zone.
-
Got a bad feeling about this one. 2-0 Morton. And no doubt we will wear our change kit even though there is no colour clash.
-
We need to win this one. And it’s our best chance to win a game since the Livingston home game in late December. Our recent performances have shown *some* encouraging signs. I’m letting heart rule head and saying that I think we will win here. But. If we don’t then we are in serious trouble. 2-0 us.

His workrate has never been in question, just his ability to deliver but he’s started showing that he can in fact deliver goals over the last month and a half. His confidence has increased significantly in that time too, which isn’t a coincidence. If he had a proper striker like prime Moult or KvV to support him then he would go from strength to strength.
-
Bair has been superb of late. If he is a ‘project’ then it’s working. His confidence has improved significantly since mid/late December.
-
We win this one, right? We have to.
-
Not the worst result and a decent performance, but yet again no win. Tuesday night is absolutely massive.
-
A poor start but we finished by far the better side. Great goal from Bair! This is there for us. We need to make this one count.
