  1. By ‘self policing’ do you mean point them out to stewards/police? Who’s numbers are forever dwindling? Or do you mean a good old fashioned scrap in the terraces like back in the 80s and early 90s? Not every match going fan is up for that, indeed the possibility of that would almost certainly drive more Motherwell fans away from attending these games, especially those who go with their kids or elderly relatives. And it’s also worth pointing out that we already have cut the OF allocation at Fir Park. We stopped giving them half of the Phil O’Donnell stand five years ago and it didn’t make a slightest bit of difference to the home attendance. That section of the stand has almost been completely empty the last couple of times either of them has been here.
  2. No you’re not because that’s not me you’re quoting there: And that’s not something I think could or would work for us as we don’t have the numbers in our core support to make up the difference and anyone who thinks that their fans wouldn’t just buy home end tickets is kidding themselves on. This would of course result in a much more poisonous and intimidating atmosphere and increase the potential for crowd trouble. The playoff 2nd leg was different because there were probably as many non-Motherwell fans in our ends that day than actual Motherwell fans, that wouldn’t happen for run of the mill games. And I have to add as well, nothing seems to make more Motherwell fans turn up to league games at Fir Park. Various initiatives have been tried by the club over the years and the core support has barely increased, if at all. The same happens whenever the team are playing well. I’ve said this before, we have a lazy support base. We have supporters out there who for one reason or another just don’t go to games every other week. I appreciate that in some cases life happens and other commitments prevent them attending, but at the same time I know plenty of Motherwell fans who’d rather go to the golf or sit in the pub or just stay in the house and watch MFC TV rather than going to Fir Park. The only time you see them is if we reach the latter stages of the Cup competitions or play in Europe. So cutting OF allocations wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference.
  3. It probably didn’t help that our own wee version of the Green Brigade also decided to jump onto the park at the equaliser so that would also have been a factor in the club not calling out Celtic fans doing it albeit in much bigger numbers.
  4. The media won’t dare report something like that, not if they want to keep their jobs. And as for “banning” the Green Brigade, how many “bans” is that now? They’ll all be back in their usual places at Celtic Park before Christmas at the very latest.
  5. To be fair no one got the chance to give Jordan White pelters or abuse because he didn’t play a single match for us in front of a crowd as his short time here was during the lockdown season. He was pretty dire for us though.
  6. And I’ve met him and spoke to him on more than one occasion. He’s an absolute gent as I’m sure you and anyone else who’s met him will know. He is also a club legend and will forever be in Motherwell FC folklore. But I still didn’t cheer or applaud him when he played against us after he’d moved on and the same goes for any other player.
  7. I don’t care if it is. I support a club not any individual player.
  8. No and I didn’t applaud him when he played against us either, Cup winner or not.
  9. Compared to Dundee Utd, yes. But even then the only club I love and support is Motherwell.
  10. That post was sarcasm and a thinly veiled dig at those in our support who hero worship certain players and almost certainly would applaud Moult should he play/score against us if we were to draw Dundee Utd in the Cup. For the record I fucking despise Dundee United and would never applaud anyone playing in their colours against us. Indeed I would never applaud ANY player playing against us no matter who it was and how good they had been for us.
  11. They have significantly better goal scoring options in their side. Miovski, Lopes, McGrath are all capable goalscorers, something which outside of a still not match fit Biereth we don’t have. We also can’t keep clean sheets.
  12. Motherwell are my only team, as you well know. And where have I said anything about getting rid of Kettlewell??? I have questioned his summer signings and said that the four forward options are not good enough, which going by the posts on here is a view which is widely held by the support.
  13. That was a Motherwell-esq collapse against one of the Old Firm by Hearts there. That said it was genuinely funny and satisfying hearing the pain in Liam McLeod and Michael Stewart’s voices at the end. Both of them could barely contain their excitement at the thought of Rangers losing and Celtic extending their lead despite dropping points yesterday. And in the end both of them were absolutely fucking gutted when Rangers never mind didn’t lose but actually went on to win it.
  14. Yes I did watch them, and they were bad. But I've watched us all season and we've been getting worse by the week. We certainly arent better than Aberdeen and I don't see us getting anything off them on Wednesday.
  15. How’s that going so far then? Hearts 1-0 up and by the sounds of it turning in an excellent performance. As things stand they too will go above us today.
  16. Killie 1-0 up on Aberdeen at HT meaning they would leapfrog us should that stay the same. Aberdeen would then go above us if/when they beat us on Wednesday.
  17. As I said yesterday signing the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse could well cost Kettlewell his job.
  18. It certainly wasn’t the worst performance in decades yesterday, we saw much worse at the tail end of Hammell’s tenure and plenty of much worse displays the season before under Alexander. However I think the “worst in decades” comment was more a description of our current forward options rather than the performance itself*. And Biereth apart then that’s an understandable view to take. To have Bair, Shaw, Obika and Wilkinson on our books at the same time takes some beating as far as dreadful forward options go. I don’t know if it’s the worst we’ve had in 40 years but it can’t be far off it. If we lose Biereth again to injury then we are fucked because we simply cannot rely on those four to get goals, lead the line and create chances. *edit: it was a different post made by a different poster I was referring to, my mistake.
  19. VAR in Scottish football was always going to be a disaster. It’s bad enough everywhere else in world football so in the shambling, amateurish, half arsed incompetent two-bit world of not just Scottish football but Scotland as a whole then it was always going to reflect how bad everything Scottish football/Scotland does. I don’t know why anyone is surprised by how bad VAR has made things.
  20. Wilkinson and Biereth need to be our striking partnership going forward, we and the manager just need to pray that Mika stays fit. That performance from Shaw and Bair yesterday should ensure that neither start again unless absolutely necessary. I would even look at recalling Mark Ferrie from his loan ahead of playing either of those two again. Things are definitely starting to look grim. That was a must win game yesterday. Off the back of four straight defeats a home game against Ross County is one we should be winning, I don’t care if anyone thinks that sounds ‘entitled’ or ‘Old Firm-ish’ or any of that nonsense. We should be beating Ross County at home, end of. And yet we were fortunate to scrape a draw in the end. That’s just not good enough. Looking at our upcoming fixtures I just don’t see a win coming. We will lose to Aberdeen on Wednesday, then we’ve got Killie on that shitey pitch of theirs next week so we won’t win there either. Then St.Johnstone in Perth on a Tuesday night. I think that’s got 0-0 written all over it and then we will lose to Hearts at home before going into the international break. And then we return with a trip to Parkhead. Grim and bleak right enough.
  21. This is the big issue for me. Kettlewell clearly did a fantastic job rallying the team last season when he took over but what are his tactics? We did well under him from Feb-May basically because we had KvV who could score goals and as we know goals change games. When you have that talisman figure then you know that you always have a chance in games. Since KVV has left we have failed miserably to both replace him and adapt our game adequately. Our signings, Biereth apart, have been dismal and we now find ourselves struggling to get a draw at home against Ross County. That is hugely worrying.
  22. My thoughts too. We were dismal today, for the vast majority of the game. We offered nothing in an attacking sense, Bair and Shaw up front both looked hopeless and we conceded three cheap goals. And on top of that we have failed to win a game that we really should be winning. However going by context (0-2 and 1-3 down) it was a good point.
  23. Point stands. We are rank rotten but I’ll take the draw. Well done for not giving up.
  24. If we somehow spawny a point out of this it will do nothing other than paper over the cracks. We are rank rotten.
