If we are terminating the contracts of individuals who are being embursed to make a material effect for the club on the field of play but are sadly falling short of that expectation for whatever reason which may or may not be any fault of their own, then I think we are displaying prudence and sound judgement. I completely agree. And on a serious note I think this is a braw kit and a lot nicer than our previous claret effort in 2018. If anyone takes a dislike to this purely because it has ‘a sash’ and somehow they associate it with Rangers and OO bigots then they need to take a good look at themselves, imo.

We sign players to play football. If they aren’t playing football, for whatever reason other than being injured then what are we paying them for? To train well? To sing songs and dance through the meadows? If they are not going to play then we move them on and that’s what the manager said yesterday. But yes, let’s leave it at that.

We’re a football club. If we have players on our books under contract who are not playing games or likely to break into the first team then they are stealing a wage, end of story. It might not be a nice or ‘PC’ term for it, but that’s what it is.

I agree. As a club we need to rid ourselves of any suggestions of us being Rangers fans without the bus fare and having sash on a kit which is just like a sash worn by Orange orde….erm, well, it’s actually not like those ones at all….but Rangers like sashes! Fuckin Rangers! I’m very uncomfortable seeing this kit. 🤑

He might not have actually used the term itself but SK saying that players walking about the club doing nothing is basically saying that players are stealing a wage. It’s the same in any job, if you aren’t contributing then you are stealing a wage, simple as that. Definitely. I’m surprised and delighted with this news.

No arguing about every signing being a gamble, but as I said this was a signing that we put alot of effort into signing, or so it appeared on the face of it anyway. It kinda had shades of Resch & Dorner under McLeish and Maurice Malpas with his Irish trio of Keegan, Murphy & Molloy. Im glad we’ve moved him on as he clearly wasn’t going to contribute anything to the team but at the same time you have to wonder about how much this will cost us to sever ties.

It was almost as if some saw he was Japanese and automatically thought he would be our Kyogo Furuhashi or Reo Hatate. In reality he was a very limited footballer that we seemed to invest a lot of time and a decent amount of money into bringing to the club. It certainly will. Which doesn’t bode well when you look at our current squad and realise that we don’t have the money to improve it.

Was Danzaki not on a decent wage as he came in with a bit of pedigree? Whatever it was it clearly didn’t work out and he looked hopelessly lightweight and out of his depth, even against Raith in the Cup.

He was a very limited manager who always seemed to benefit from a lot of luck, money and being in the right job at the right time. An absolute darling of the Scottish media mind you who would never utter a bad word about him. Some of his signings for us were horrific given the money he had to spend at the time. John ‘Klinsmann’ Hendry, Andy Roddie, Eliphas Shivute, Gunnar(sp) Jonsson, the centre half who played in and gave away the penalty in the above mentioned 2-1 Aberdeen loss then was never seen again. And there were lots more.

McLeish spent all that summer, or so it seemed anyway, trying to sign the two of them and I think they were both gone by the end of September.

Completely agree about the white change kits. Last seasons and the 19/20 efforts were our best in years.

The last time we had a Claret away kit we wore it in just about every away game except against Hearts and Aberdeen because of the obvious clash with their home colours. I don’t know the reason but that I found that an annoyance that season, though not as much of an annoyance seeing us wear a mostly claret away kit as our ‘home’ kit last season. If we’re going to have a Claret change kit then we should also have a white third kit imo.

Glad to see the first new face in the door. As with any signing we make only time will tell if he will produce the goods for us so best of luck to him.

There is time yet for us to strengthen the squad and we’re obviously working to our usual financial restrictions that we face every year. We will bring players in before the end of the summer transfer window, I’m confident of that at least, but it can’t be denied that as things stand there is cause for concern as the squad we have just now will almost certainly struggle in the league next season because it is weak at the back and up front. So any signings we make need to be absolutely bang on the money.

Simon Mensing was on our books briefly and hardly featured before going onto Accies and becoming a bit of a cult hero there.

The same season but not the same game. It was Woods in goal for us that day, he saved a last minute penalty only for them to score the rebound and win 2-1. It was after that goal that Leighton was attacked. The game Scott Thomson played also finished 2-1 to Aberdeen but it was the last game of that season.

Yeah I certainly wouldn’t trust any Motherwell team to get a result against Airdrie. The same goes for games against Accies. We always go into games like that as though getting a result isn’t as important to us as it is to them.
