Well missing out on ‘Europe’ is a blessing in disguise imo. I can’t speak for anyone else but I know I’m in no rush to see us play another European tie after our embarrassing efforts against Sligo last summer and our previous pathetic efforts against Stjarnan in 2014. Plus us sneaking into the top six and Europe last year actually hampered us going into this season because it papered over some massive cracks. After the way this season and the last year and a half have gone for the club then if we manage to avoid relegation comfortably and then perhaps finish best of the rest in the bottom six then that is good going for us.

Great result and I reckon we have taken another huge step to safety today. It’s a pity we couldn’t add to our tally and that KvV missed out on his hat trick as he was superb today. I reckon he’ll be away in the summer so we should appreciate him while we still can.
-
Yeah no arguments there, clear offside.
-
Excellent first half from us and yet again KvV showing his worth for us. He’s having his best game for us so far. Hopefully we don’t let up and can get more goals!
-
They are but we are unbeaten in our last eight against them though there have been several draws in that run. They have traditionally been an annoyingly hard team to beat and games tend to be tight with the odd exception. If there is a winner on Saturday I think it will be by a single goal and it won’t be easy on the eye.

The players for whatever reason appeared to down tools under Hammell, especially from the WC break any way. The change in effort from KvV, Spittal, Goss and even McGinn has been night and day since the change of manager. I don’t know what went on under Hammell but I think it’s safe to say he had lost the dressing room.

If we can get 4 points from the home double header then I reckon we will be safe for this season. Obviously 6 points from 6 would be better but it’s a tall order. Kettlewell has overseen some transformation in the last two months, from us looking more or less doomed in early February and unlikely to win another game this season to being in with a chance of being more or less safe before the split.

I would edge towards Casey as well for the captaincy, I just hope we can tie him up on a longer deal.
-
Definitely. Either Butcher or Casey should be club captain as they have both shown in the short time that they have been here that they are both ‘leaders’ on the park, something that we have lacked previously.
-
To be honest, the penalty save is the only thing I can remember him for. That and him getting caught miles off his line against Czech Republic in Euro 2020.
-
Best result of the season! Even better than the win at Pittodrie in August imo because the significance of that puts a fair bit of daylight between us and Ross County in 11th. And winning at Easter Road will never not be enjoyable. 😁
-
FANTASTIC result!! Well done Motherwell and get it right up those Hibs bampots!
-
Fucking hold it this time ffs!!!
-
That McKirdy looks like a cross between Leigh Griffiths and Derek Riordan. Exactly the type of player you’d expect to see playing for Hibs.
-
Our two biggest weaknesses historically; defending crosses and 2-0 leads. Many a Motherwell team, good or bad, can never deal with either.
-
We’ll be lucky to get a point now.
-
He’s a ‘national treasure’ though because he saved a penalty for Scotland once, was never getting sent off. And Hibs bring it back to 1-2 so we won’t be winning now.
-
Worst penalty I’ve seen him hit but it went in so that’s all that counts. Let’s see you boogie about that one Marshall ya big helmet!
-
Brilliantly struck from Goss.
-
Mandron and KvV up top then? Hopefully they get the service they need.
-
Oh right, apart from the three examples that I quoted above? And I'm sure there's more I could find if I wanted. But hey, you batter in talking shite and making things up if it keeps you warm. I mean granted I can be negative and have talked shite on occasion on here during my time, but who hasn't? You for example have said more than once that you would rather see us qualify for Europe than winning a trophy which I think is utterly bonkers but I respect your right to have that view...
-
Saying “I fancy us to win 3-0” alone would have been enough for an April fools.
-
I hope so too, though I must point out that I correctly predicted that we would lose to Rangers the other week. (And yes I know, bigger club, bigger budget, all those glory hunters behind them, it’s easy to predict a loss in that type of game yada-yada-yada. But I was right regardless on that occasion.) Our record against Hibs is dreadful, something like one win in the last eleven meetings and I don’t see that changing on Saturday I’m afraid. We are absolutely not out of the woods yet by any means and we need other results to go our way this weekend and we also need maximum points from the home double header coming up before we can start relaxing a bit.

That’s our next manager confirmed then. 🙄
