Well pretty poor stuff so far from both sides but thankfully we’ve managed to take one of the two best chances we got. This team tends to do better once they go ahead so fingers crossed. As for Watt’s red card I think it’s a stonewaller. His studs were up and the intent was clear, that was dangerous foul play and the VAR decision was spot on.

Cheerio Watt ya neddy wee Coatbridge bam!

Get in!!!!

Aye pretty poor so far and fortunate that Fletcher’s effort went wide.
-
Fuck so he is! Didn’t even notice that at first. Good to see.

Shields starts with Tierney dropping to the bench today, otherwise the same starting eleven as last week.

SH saying that Moult had a “small procedure during the week” but he hopes he won’t be out for as long as Efford. I’d be surprised if we see Moult feature atall before the World Cup going by that. I reckon we should cut our losses with this deal.

Not good. He might not be good enough but he is a better option than what we are left with, that in itself shows the mess we are in. Our problems are certainly building up and I don’t envy Stevie Hammell one bit with the task he’s got.

Nah, we’ve got enough former players on the books just now that aren’t making any impact without adding another. I know the club like this ‘recruitment policy’ of looking backwards and re-signing ex players but we really should look ahead, not backwards. Plus I never rated Erwin one bit to be honest.

And as I said they also beat Aberdeen 4-0 at home whereas we just lost 1-2 to the Dons at home the other day. We might not lose 4-1 but I don’t see us doing anything other than losing on Saturday, especially if we are still minus our injuries which I believe we will be. At the end of the day a defeat is a defeat and it doesn’t matter if we lose 4-1 or 1-0, the end result is no points for us yet again.

It’s not just the results that are giving cause for concern, it’s the level of performances in the last several games that’s the worry. Our ball use is dreadful, we look slow, we aren’t creating enough chances and at the other end we are conceding cheap goals. Our best performance this season, certainly at home, was against Utd at the start of September where we actually did create chances and more or less did everything right except put the ball in the net. We’ve not seen that since, especially at Fir Park and even the first half of the 5-0 win at Ross County was pretty poor and we didn’t really start ‘clicking’ until the second goal went in. There’s no arguing we are in a horrible run of fixtures against the city clubs and we’ve also had our injury issues in that same time, but the performances have been worrying.

Wouldn’t surprise me.

We struggle to score goals, our defence is weak and we don’t have the best records at Tannadice. I have seen enough of us this season to know that a loss here is the most likely outcome. I’ve not seen a great deal of Dundee Utd but unlike us they have players who can create and take chances. Watt, Fletcher and McGrath would walk into our team and improve it instantly. They scudded Aberdeen (who deservedly beat us at home two days ago) 4-0 a couple of weeks back. You don’t need to be on drugs to foresee a home win on Saturday.

Can’t see anything other than another defeat. 4-1 home win and another dismal showing from us.
-
Neil Lennon wouldn’t come to us, we couldn’t afford his wages or meet his budget demands. He got frustrated at Hibs because of the latter so how long would he last here? Plus he would bring a lot of baggage and focus that we really don’t need and would have Motherwell fans arguing amongst themselves even more than they usually do. Non starter.
-
He certainly mentioned it post match and having just seen the Sportscene highlights then it looked a clear foul on Lamie. I’m not going to clutch at straws and try and say that that is why we lost today as we were awful but incidents like that are surely why VAR was brought in?
-
Must say it looked like a penalty at the end on first viewing and Hammell commented on why it wasn’t VAR checked after the game. That said it it been awarded and scored it would only have papered over the cracks.
-
When Alexander left did we actually make a serious effort to find a replacement from outside the club and it was simply a case of no one being available or interested? Or did we simply take the lazy, easy option and give it to Hammell? And let me be as clear as I possibly can be here, I am not for one second suggesting that Hammell should go and he continues to have my full support and will do for the remainder of this season. He was given an almost impossible task taking this job on.
-
Totally agree and next Saturday at Tannadice is already ‘must win’ in my opinion or at the very least ‘must not lose’. The same goes for St.Johnstone in Perth. We will get nothing at Tynecastle and an absolute hammering at home by Celtic, probably even more so than we got the other night. The sad thing is you don’t see how we’re going to get points and with us in this horrible run of fixtures and results our confidence is already fragile.
-
KvV yet again looks a hugely frustrated figure today and totally understandable, because he has absolutely NOTHING in the way of support or service. Dennis Bergkamp would struggle up front in this team. Our scouting and player recruitment is absolutely abysmal.
-
Alexander is responsible for assembling what is without doubt the worst Motherwell team in years and those above him are responsible for allowing him to do so. What we are left with is a dreadful squad and a rookie manager. As I’ve said more than once now, if this season ends badly then it’s on Burrows and the board.

Pathetic stuff from us.
