  1. Lucky to still be level. Stunning save from Kelly there. Our backline is slower than a week in jail.
  2. Robinson “categorically” states that there is no truth in this rumour. That’ll do for me.
  3. In fairness to him he was a breath of fresh air to us in 2017/18 after the absolute disaster that was Mark McGhee’s second spell. He was optimistic and positive about the club and instilled a battling quality in a limited squad which helped get us to two Cup Finals after two excellent Cup runs. After that though he ran out of ideas and only bringing Turnbull and Hastie into the side halfway through the following season took the heat off him when we were otherwise dismal. In truth it would have been better for both parties had he taken either the Hearts job in Nov 2019 or the NI job the following summer, because he had clearly gone as far as he could with us by then.
  4. I’m not a fan of appointing inexperienced first time managers but I would honestly rather see Hammell & Kerr get the job on a permanent basis than bring back a manager who had overstayed his welcome by over a year and eventually left when he realised this 18 months ago. Bringing Robinson back would be a terrible appointment.

    Alexander.

It will I reckon. Alexander needed to go, I think that overwhelming majority of the support realised that and letting him stay in the post would only have exacerbated bad feelings from the fans. 24 hours ago I was dreading the start of the league season but as soon as the news that Alexander had gone came out I immediately felt a lot better about it. Of course that could change quickly should we make the wrong appointment, especially if Robinson is brought back, but at the moment we have an opportunity to move forward.
  6. What about Barry Ferguson with Bob Malcolm as his assistant? I’m sure they are free agents having previously worked together at Kelty Hearts. Not that I’d want it but it could happen.
  7. I sincerely hope you are right but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was something in it. We are notorious for re-tracing steps when signing players or managers.
  8. If we are seriously considering bringing Robinson back then there is no hope for Burrows and this board. An absolutely ridiculous, short sighted backward looking approach. Surely to Christ this cannot happen?
  9. Are people seriously suggesting James McFadden for the/a role???
  10. I agree and whatever happens on Sunday I still think us and St.Mirren will be involved in the relegation struggle this season. It’s very much a clash between two poor sides. However with Alexander gone that will - hopefully - give us a boost to go on and get the points.
  11. Have we ever gone into to a new season looking for a new manager having not played a single league match before?
  12. Hammell would still be our best left back even at 40 years old.
  13. And he’s probably the experienced ‘head’ that would benefit us just now. Its unlikely though, as I’m sure he’s involved with one of the highland league sides as some kind of advisor on a full time basis.
  14. Hammell and Kerr to take the team on Sunday.
  15. Because of the abrupt nature of his departure and , as far as I know, he hasn’t actually been back to Fir Park since, outwith media duties and when he was inducted into our hall of fame last year. If I am wrong about any of that then I am happy to be corrected but that’s just how I see it. As I said I would be happy to see Craigan back at Fir Park in some capacity, but I just don’t see it happening.
  16. I wouldn’t be against Craigan being brought in in some capacity, though not as manager as he has no experience whatsoever. However sadly I get the impression that Craigan is no longer welcome at Fir Park.
  17. We need to be realistic in who we would be able to afford. As someone said on another thread we need to be steering clear of ex Well managers or popular ex players who have no managerial experience. Ian McCall has more than proved himself at the level we are at and could be a good option, even as a short-ish term option to ‘steady the ship’.
  18. Given the timing, two days before the new league season kicks off, and with a squad on its arse and devoid of confidence and ideas, the next managerial appointment we make has to be absolutely spot on. Burrows and the board simply cannot afford to get this one wrong. Personally I would be approaching Partick Thistle and asking to speak to Ian McCall. I don’t know that he would even be remotely interested in it, but I would certainly be asking him. I think he would be a perfect fit for us just now.

    He’s gone…mutual consent!!!
  21. It’s the first game of the league season and it’s already a must win game, especially for the manager. That’s where we are at just now. These are the type of games that we are going to need to pick up points in this season if we are to avoid the drop and imo we need a minimum of four points from our first two games and anything less is unacceptable. I suppose we should take some comfort in St.Mirren being as shite as we are and managed by Stephen Robinson. But who knows. 3-1, just don’t know who to. Edit: 3-1 to us
  22. Our scouting system is appalling. Our ability to develop youth players isn’t good enough. As a club we seem to be putting more focus on getting likes on social media than addressing any of the above. Our official club Twitter carries the headline “We exist to improve people’s lives”. Utter patronising nonsense. We exist as a professional football club…that’s first and foremost what we are. I’m not asking us to be Barcelona, but is it really too much to ask for us to be able to put a competitive team out on the park who can play at least something resembling entertaining football now and again? Because we most definitely have not had anything like that for at least three years now.
  23. If the support as a whole become vocal in calling for the managers head then I think the board will act. They have done so in the past with Baraclough, McGhee second time around. But as I’ve said before, we have issues at the club that run far deeper than the man in the dugout. A massive clear out is needed, on and off the park.
  24. I honestly don’t see the board removing him between now and Sunday, he will get the start of the league campaign, whatever anyone thinks IMO. However I think he’s past the point of no return with the fan base now and if we have a poor result against St.Mirren then the knives are going to be well and truly out for him in the first home game a week on Saturday. I think we could well be looking at a repeat of that May ‘07 2-3 St.Mirren game under Malpas. Listening to his interview on Radio Scotland it sounded like he was getting verbal from at least one Motherwell fan, so much so that Al Lamont apologised and asked him if he was okay to continue at one point.
