FFS. Absolutely nothing going for us just now.

This has all the makings of a hard slog and an utter shitfest but if we are to avoid relegation then games like these are the types we need to win or at the very least not lose.

Yeah to be honest I’m not saying that we should sign Leigh Griffiths now, more that if there was a situation where he was fit enough to play and available to us then his off-field baggage shouldn’t be a deal breaker to us as a club.

Considering we as a club have made a big effort to show support for mental health awareness up to and including bringing out a new strip especially dedicated to helping charities which support it, then giving a chance to a player who has had his own ‘demons’ perhaps should see him fit into our image.

He wouldn’t have offered us any less than Moult has.

Everyone will have their own view on this based on age/when they started supporting the club. For me in my time it’s Tommy Coyne. A brilliant forward and an absolute class act of a player and we’ve never had anyone like that since.

Game rescheduled for Wednesday 15th February.

A draw wouldn’t be a disaster but we really need wins if we want to get ourselves away from the lower reaches of the table.

Can’t see us winning here either, a draw is the best we’ll get.

Amen! I am 100% convinced that a lot of this “punching above our weight” mindset stems from Alan Burrows.

For all the flak Kelly has taken this scoreline would be a lot worse tonight if it wasn’t for him.

We’ve not had any real leaders since Hartley, Tait and to an extent Gallagher left. There’s not one player at the club who you would look at as being the obvious captain.

I wish we had a player as shite as him.

I genuinely don’t think we’ll ever beat either of them ever again. Our mentality in these games is all wrong, regardless of budgets, finances etc.

Them losing to Killie doesn’t do us any favours either.

Story of the season. We can’t defend and we can’t score goals, that is a recipe for disaster. As things stand we are only two points ahead of Dundee Utd in 11th and only three ahead of Ross County in 12th.

Game over.

The playoffs were by far our most significant results in the last two decades and more. Had we lost them and been relegated, to Rangers, led by Stuart McCall, then it would have been gut wrenching and difficult to recover from as we were still in the transition period of Dempster leaving, Burrows promotion, the Well Society just taking off. Relegation at that point could have been very damaging to our future as a club. But it all worked out well.

I’ve still got that full game recorded on a VHS tape though I’ve got nothing to play it on these days. I don’t think there would have been a Motherwell fan who would have believed it if someone had said after that game that we would be sitting 20 years later still waiting for our next league win against them. It would perhaps have been even less believable if someone had said that our next win against them would have been against their ‘new club’ in a relegation playoff where we beat them to consign them to another year in the lower leagues.
