How many points were you expecting against unbeaten Hearts at Tynecastle & at home to one half of the Old Firm?!
-
Dundee United going about their business very quietly. I’ll be delighted with a point. As for the team, who knows? Do we move Grimshaw to right back and bring in Donnelly? Not sure if I’m comfortable with Mugabi at right back although he was a solid 6/10 when he was out there. O’Donnell’s performances haven’t been good enough but I think we sometimes forget he barely had a pre season with his Scotland duty plus injury afterwards.

Result was deserved after two moments of madness from Kelly. I wasn’t sold that it was a penalty at the time, the linesman surely had the clearest view of it but did the referee even go over to consult him? I’ve not seen it back yet but many have said it was a penalty so no complaints. 2nd pen I can’t comment on as it was obviously to far away to make judgment on it. Plenty of positives to take though. I thought Woolery was good, albeit he should have buried his chance straight after the penalty save which would have seen us back in the mix. He just doesn’t seem to be able to strike a ball properly. Mugabi was solid at the back too. On a different day we could have came home with a point. Criticism for me though has to goto our international experienced esteemed captain. Absolutely rotten. McGinley on the opposite flank wasn’t much better, fairly solid defensively but going forward offered very little. Swapping him for Carroll would have been my first change early in the second half when we had to go for it. Losing at Tynecastle in the manner we did yesterday was nothing to be ashamed about. Onto the next one.

That’s nonsense. If Van Veen or Ojala wanted to tweet about teams from their homeland then fair enough. The team that employs them are not in direct competition with these sides. Domestically though, I think it should be a case of doing your job and keeping your mouth shut. Especially on a platform that is so public. We all know Tony Watt supports Celtic but does he bang on about it? Hardly. Dom Thomas was also guilty of it, which caused him not to be endeared by many.
-
Is there though? It’s a complete lack of unprofessionalism for me. Just about every place of work now has a social media policy on the go. See if his Twitter profile was private and limited to those who he is friends with etc then fair enough. He can tweet what he wants, but it isn’t. His Twitter profile is available to all including those who essentially pay for him to live a cushty life whilst not bothering his arse about trying to get into the team. I can’t see him sticking around and suspect he will be Partick Thistle’s problem come January. Even they are above his level though. The guy is crap. Could it have turned out differently for him though if he scored the penalty at Easter Road?

Fingers crossed we can start talking about Steven Lawless soon in this thread.
-
Well deserved I’d say. The media team are certainly talented at what they do, but they also know how to piss you off after a 3-0 home defeat to Ross County.

Ticket pricing has always been a shambles. I’ve always thought adopting a same price across the board structure would work best. Although, not at £30 plus sadly the Old Firm would never entertain it the greedy bastards.
-
I’m sure we do charge the big two £30 a skull?

Great to see McKinstry doing so well down there, highly thought of for sure by Bielsa. Wee bit disappointing we didn’t manage to see his passion for the game in a ‘well jersey but that’s the nature of the beast now and I reckon he’ll play for his beloved well at some point in his hopefully successful career. Have we potentially missed out on seeing the new McFadden? Most important question though, do we have sell ons in place? £££

Definitely mate, and a big well done to everyone who turned out and helped organise the event. Didn’t attend personally but from what I’ve seen on social media it was a great success. Weeyin gets it spot on though. I could use one hand to count the number of positive contributions from Brian Kerr in a Motherwell shirt. Saturday was one of them too!
-
I could list plenty of wage thief’s that have played for Motherwell and Dunne isn’t one of them. One actually appeared in a “Motherwell Legends” team today for Fir Park Corners anniversary do. Very harsh on Charles Dunne, not the worst defender we’ve had but never short of effort on the park. Thankfully though, his injury’s are St Mirren’s problems now.

Possibly one of our finest bits of business back then. If I recall correctly it was the last day of the window too? Jim Paterson moved to Plymouth I think for a 1/4 of a Million and we spent half of that on twice the player of Paterson. No disrespect to Jim Paterson who served us well. Hammell is well worthy of his place here, I’ll be surprised if his appearance record will ever be broken in my life time. And people of my generation can definitely talk about him in the same way my old mans generation talks about Joe Wark.
-
The best left back we’ve had since we’ve been trying to replace Stevie Hammell; but still couldn’t lace Stevie’s boots.
-
Has Roberts fully recovered from his injury from last season? He done a job for us in his short spell and I’m pleased to see him (potentially) return.

Wasn’t pretty to say the least, but the three points are in the bag. The league table shows it’s been a solid start to the season too! With games coming up against Aberdeen and Rangers at Ibrox it was a much needed 3 points. Goss impressed when he came on and KVV showed some really nice touches too. It’s a no brainer for me who leads the line between him and Watt, the Dutchman just seems to ooze class. I wouldn’t be against going with a diamond midfield in the future with him and Watt partnering each other up top. Even though it was a terrible performance, it was great to see the full East Stand up on their feet, singing and cheering at the end, everybody absolutely buzzing to be back.

I have a sneaky feeling our forward players are going to be in the mood tomorrow to score 3 or 4, sadly though our soft as shite defence will be in the mood to no doubt concede 4 or 5! I wasn’t overly impressed with Dundee in the cup game but they put in a good shift and performance last week against Hibs. I’d like to think we will take all 3 points tomorrow though with our home advantage. I’m going for a very much ambitious 4-1 home win. Looking forward to hearing Kool & The Gang tomorrow at 4.50pm.

Great win today, not a great performance to match it though but what do you expect on that pitch? Up top I thought Amaluzor was energetic and bright. Not feart to take a man on unlike Woolery on the other side who really should have burst the net today instead of passing it back to the Livi keeper. I really hope we sign another midfielder with similar quality to Slattery otherwise the boy will burn out after 4 months carrying the full midfield. Lamie had a solid game at the back, although sadly there’s still an error in him. At the moment I think bar Kelly, he’s Alexander’s first name on the team sheet. Where do we start on Grimmy though? We all know he’s not blessed with great ability but the guy doesn’t half know how to put a shift in. Delighted he got the winning goal. After today’s win though, I think we can be happy with our start to the league campaign. I know we deserved a point at home to Hibs, but 4 points away from home against the double winners & Livi at their plastic mess isn’t to be ashamed of. Win next week and it’s a solid start before the international break.

Because we are a great wee club? All part of the rollercoaster.
-
I see St Mirren are looking to take Matty Kennedy from Aberdeen for a loan of. Hasn’t worked out for him up in the North East but I reckon he’s a player we could be doing with.
-
£25 though? Bargain! I think I’ll be giving this one a miss.
-
Where do you start with that today? Keeper aside, a team full of absolute crap. Maybe also being harsh on Grimshaw too. Carroll was stinking, hardly a decent cross from him the whole game, but then again not a decent striker to aim at. The boy Woolery seems to have pace to burn but doesn’t know how to utilise it, won’t take a man on and can’t seem to keep the ball under control. No point in mentioning the midfield, why comment on something that isn’t actually there? Shields should have buried his chance, but not sure if he had we would have seen the game out as we are absolutely abysmal. I really do fear we could be in big trouble come the end of the season.
-
It’s a tough choice on who to drop from Lamie & Mugabi. Mugabi provides a goal threat from set pieces (albeit at both ends) so he shades it for me. I actually believe that O’Connor being dropped after the group cup games was unjustified and he deserved to start vs Hibs.
-
I think I would be happy with that. Would also like to see Ojala getting a start. Lawless probably deserves a start after his positive impact last week in Perth. Could provide the link between the midfield & attack we’ve been lacking. Kelly Sod Mugabi Ojala Carroll Maguire Slattery Woolery Lawless Watt Van Veen I’ll take a 1-0 win and hope for a winnable home tie in the next round.
