  1. It’s appears to have been announced on the WhatsApp channel and then promptly deleted.
  2. Kettlewell makes buck with the one hand and throws it away with the other. It’s not even a strategy at this stage; it appears to be more of a scattergun panic. He can never use the we’re skint and subject to one of the lowest budgets in the league excuse again.
  3. I’m looking forward to January to see how Kettlewell manages to choose between fielding his MFC A, B, or C team each game.
  4. It’s fairly obvious that Kettlewell is a good individual man manager/coach, but it’s his overall team management and tactical approach that many of us continue to question. Let’s see how he does this season with his massive squad.
  5. A sensible assessment to counter my sarcastic post. You’re probably right.
  6. Vale to score 10 goals from midfield. Maybe.
  7. The difference is that EPL clubs have an unlimited supply of fans willing to pay into their model, but we don’t. We need to hook local kids early and this will prevent that. The 14 and over is absolutely a Motherwell thing. It should be 12 at worst.
  8. I’m not blaming the Society, I just think the Club’s policy is at odds with the Society’s drive to encourage childhood support. I’m sure WS directors are reading and will take action.
  9. If you’re old enough to take yourself to high school, you’re old enough to take yourself to a football match. 14 and above is ridiculous. This policy is unbelievably shortsighted and will undoubtedly cut off a significant proportion of the next generation of kids from becoming regular paying fans. Access to football is already prohibitive enough without implementing this nonsense. I’m really disappointed in Caldwell over this. It’s completely changed my view on the Club in this context and made me question signing up my wee man to be a junior WS member, as what’s the point?!
  10. Still a work in progress but we won today because every single player worked their socks off for the team. Hearts were poor but they also couldn’t handle our work rate today. A good game to watch, finally. I know a few folk have mentioned this and I heard similar rumblings in the stand today, and that’s the concern that Kettlewell is doing his best to ruin Miller and devalue him by wasting him in an advanced and/or wide role. He’s a deep lying playmaker and needs to be played in his best position to let him continue to flourish. I should also say well done to Halliday who worked hard today and special mention to Wilson for continuing to improve and grow into the first team.
  11. Don’t worry, next season will be the season of midfielders. Probably.
  12. Future coach/manager? https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2024/08/20/peter-hartley-motherwell-will-always-be-home/
  13. Nice to see a couple of bigots have outed themselves tonight. Keep up the good work, Derek.
  14. I'd love for us to move to a 433 with the players we have, but I don't think Kettlewell will deviate from what we've come accustomed to seeing.
  15. The game is on Sunday 25th August, not Saturday 24th, and I think this one will likely be a boring draw. Probably 1-1.
  16. Much better today, but only once Kettlewell finally made subs, which allowed Miller to drop back into his pivot position. Maswanhise, Watt and Moses were significant upgrades on Halliday, Davor and Robinson today. I also though Sparrow did well when he came on, and special mentions to Seddon and Wilson for playing a couple of different positions each today as Kettlewell fiddled with the line-up throughout the second half. The less said about Halliday, the better, but it was to be expected when he was signed. Him and Davor should not start together again in the double pivot positions, or whatever it is they're doing, as Miller is wasted in the advanced role he's being pegged into recently. We were crap until all that was changed, so let's hope Kettlewell has learned something. Watt worked hard when he came on and Maswanhise was brilliant. It was so refreshing to see a winger taking on his man, over and over again, and then getting a deserved assist.
  17. His deal runs to January, with the option to extend beyond that, but I wouldn't expect him to be here for too long if he continues to perform as well as he did today.
  18. Tawanda. The boy was class today and completely changed the game.
  19. I was being sarcastic. Re-read the post that my post was in response to.
  20. Tony Watt can play. Different rules for group stages and last 16.
  21. The only shite patter here is you and others continually nibbling at every little thing I post. Keep it up.
  22. Yet for every Bair shaped success there’s a disproportionate number of Callachan / Nicholson / Obika shaped losses. It’s not sustainable.
  23. Maybe if Jack had a greater determination to succeed he wouldn’t have been out injured for 900+ days of his professional career.
  24. I do recognise the significant restraints, and that’s exactly why I’m so pissed off at the inevitability of the situation we find ourselves in. Kettlewell preaches these restraints on a weekly basis. Therefore, if I had such a restricted budget, I wouldn’t allocate a significant proportion of it to the same type of risk (injury prone players) in key positions. One or two risks across the squad is to be expected, but the balance of his signings is all wrong and it’s come back to bite him. If it’s a choice between the categories of risks you’ve outlined, I’d rather Kettlewell spent money on young/struggling available players and one or two quality players, instead of wasting a lot on several injury prone experienced players and then having to spend more to mitigate the impact of them being inevitably injured. The latter is always a false economy and a poor strategy, and we’ve seen it before. In the end, gamblers always lose.
