  1. We were never getting 3 points today against high-flying Hearts, and by the sounds of things, we made it easy for them with their goals. It also seems we engaged kitchen sink mode at the end, with Bair, Ferrie, Obika, and Mugabi (according to the radio) all playing up front. Is Kettlewell starting to panic, or is that his plan B? I don't know; I only followed on the radio. We have three games across seven days coming up. Celtic (H), Livi (A) and Rangers (A). How many points will we take?
  2. Source? He probably does need a rest, but it would be nice to have him as an option from the bench.
  3. Can't believe he finally managed to open his gate.
  4. It's probably a bit of both. As you say, we lack a leader to step up in the middle when the going gets tough, but we also appear to lack a plan B when that happens, which is on the manager. It's a perfect storm of shit, and we've seen it play out all too often. Conversely, scoring lots of goals isn't a problem anymore, so we'll likely see out the season maintaining our 1.04 points per game stat. I think we're looking at a draw at best today. Record: 5-11-9, 26 points (1.04 per game), 7th Home Record: 4-4-5, 16 points Away Record: 1-7-4, 10 points Goals: 35 (1.40 per game), Goals: 39 (1.56 per game), Diff: -4 https://fbref.com/en/squads/9d04848a/Motherwell-Stats
  5. No. Tactical changes to combat another manager making 2 subs to alter their formation doesn't always require subs to be made.
  6. I'm not sure you understood my sarcasm.
  7. I was being sarcastic. Paton is his wee pal.
  8. He should also explain why he hooks Davor and not Paton in certain games.
  9. My thoughts exactly, but I didn't bother posting to say that because I'd just be accused of criticism for the sake of it. Whilst one of the new boys may have been outmuscled for a goal, he also scored a goal and did relatively well for his first start. Vale was also lively and carried a threat. Blaming the new guys instead of acknowledging that your veteran defence and goalkeeper are shite is so on-brand for Kettlewell, and it'll be his undoing.
  10. He's 95% footballer and 5% Kettlewell’s pal, so that makes a whole, right?
  11. My bad. I meant to write Butcher and Kelly. Edited above.
  12. All valid questions, but they will only be ironed out once the incompetents are removed from their posts.
  13. For my views and provocative comments, I was labelled an ignorant dumbfuck by another user yesterday, which doesn't overly bother me as they've never met me. All it does, however, is highlight the petty stupidity of that individual to the rest of the forum.
  14. I may be wrong, but I've noticed lately that Butcher and Kelly don't seem to interact with each other much. Perhaps I am misreading body language, but it looks like they're both constantly raging and blaming each other for all the mistakes. Have they all lost confidence and trust in each other at the back? Is there trouble in paradise brewing?
  15. Given how ridiculous this season has been for us and others, I still think we’re set to finish in the bottom six, but we’ve every chance of finishing 7th and with many more points than those in 6th. Or 11th could still happen.
  16. They've decided to use it to re-referee games, which is what happens when incompetents are given a new toy to help them. In my view, VAR is a useful tool for helping officials judge offsides and goal-line issues, but that's about it. Football is a contact sport, so players will often barge and tug and tackle and nudge, which always looks bad when slowed down and shown to some overpromoted prick who's never played the professional game themself. And players know this, so they either exploit it or are undone because they forget it exists. It's a farce and it's ruining the spectacle. People will stop going to games because the spontaneous joy has been sucked out of it.
  17. We should have done that or shut up shop. Instead, we did neither, which was as predictable as water is wet, and we have to question why these disappointingly predictable outcomes happen. See also the Morton game. An answer could be poor management and a weak-minded squad, although I'm excluding the attacking players and tactics from this view as it was good the most part yesterday. Another answer could be bad luck, but that would be too kind. Another answer could be the lack of an on-field and off-field leader, which I think is probably about right. We don't seem to have anyone on the park capable of taking a game by the scruff of the neck or anyone in the dugout capable of making effective decisions when the tide turns against the plan or the going gets tough. I'm sure others will also have answers to this.
  18. I think you've failed to understand my sarcastic comment or read my previous posts on Elliot, as I know he isn't fit because he hasn't played since summer and is, therefore, likely a project. Who's the ignorant dumbfuck now? Not me. My view is that a January window is for signing starters (like defenders) to help a struggling team immediately. It's not a time for signing projects, or unfit and injured players just because we can. Also, take your personal abuse elsewhere and bile yer heid while you're at it.
  19. We did sign another RWB in Callan Elliot. Oh, wait…
  20. Hearts won't start this game in as much disarray as Aberdeen did tonight, so it'll likely be at least three gift-wrapped goals for Hearts and who knows how many for us. I honestly can't predict it.
  21. It wasn't me who compared him to Woods. I called him a cowardly lion. I've also criticised the defenders for being weak and the rest of the team for allowing balls to be shelled into the back three and keeper. Watch his body language and reaction after he makes a mistake, such as an easy goal being scored against him or he fucks his distribution. He rants and raves and moans at everyone and the sky but himself. That is not a captain. He needs to be accountable, or the players will (and have) lose respect for him.
  22. Correct. Echoes my previous post.
  23. That's true, except Butcher has returned and is half the player he was, McGinn is a little out of sorts on the left, Casey seems to be playing second fiddle to Mugabi because perhaps still unfit, and whatever defenders are picked have to defend with a cowardly lion behind them anyway.
