  1. Providing the Well Society retains no less than 51% ownership, I'm pretty much open to any ideas at this stage.
  2. We've no divine right to beat Livi. They finally got points against the team in fifth yesterday. As you say, it'll be a huge game for both teams.
  3. Well Well, well, we have a bigger doom merchant than MJC 😉
  4. I agree with the old-school approach in these scenarios. Shankland (and players like him) should be swarmed upon during set pieces into our box, and it can be done without fouling. It's that simple. Being proactive in defence is often easier than being reactive.
  5. Fair enough. On Paton, however, he's already missed a fair few sitters, so I think any criticism would be merited. He does many things well, and I can see why Kettlewell picks him for that, but his end product is often rotten.
  6. Inherited or not, the buck always stops with the manager in football. He's also had two transfer windows to address the inherited problems you mentioned.
  7. Disagree. Every point is a prisoner, so we should be going for them. That doesn't mean we will win, though.
  8. I don't think you can compare them like that. Miller is 17 and has one professional goal, and Paton is 25 and has twelve professional goals. Furthermore, Paton is often asked to play further forward, but Miller isn't. The boy is still growing into the game and learning.
  9. I've just seen the goals. Comedy defending as usual. Pathetic.
  10. We were never getting 3 points today against high-flying Hearts, and by the sounds of things, we made it easy for them with their goals. It also seems we engaged kitchen sink mode at the end, with Bair, Ferrie, Obika, and Mugabi (according to the radio) all playing up front. Is Kettlewell starting to panic, or is that his plan B? I don't know; I only followed on the radio. We have three games across seven days coming up. Celtic (H), Livi (A) and Rangers (A). How many points will we take?
  11. Source? He probably does need a rest, but it would be nice to have him as an option from the bench.
  12. Can't believe he finally managed to open his gate.
  13. It's probably a bit of both. As you say, we lack a leader to step up in the middle when the going gets tough, but we also appear to lack a plan B when that happens, which is on the manager. It's a perfect storm of shit, and we've seen it play out all too often. Conversely, scoring lots of goals isn't a problem anymore, so we'll likely see out the season maintaining our 1.04 points per game stat. I think we're looking at a draw at best today. Record: 5-11-9, 26 points (1.04 per game), 7th Home Record: 4-4-5, 16 points Away Record: 1-7-4, 10 points Goals: 35 (1.40 per game), Goals: 39 (1.56 per game), Diff: -4 https://fbref.com/en/squads/9d04848a/Motherwell-Stats
  14. No. Tactical changes to combat another manager making 2 subs to alter their formation doesn't always require subs to be made.
  15. I'm not sure you understood my sarcasm.
  16. I was being sarcastic. Paton is his wee pal.
  17. He should also explain why he hooks Davor and not Paton in certain games.
  18. My thoughts exactly, but I didn't bother posting to say that because I'd just be accused of criticism for the sake of it. Whilst one of the new boys may have been outmuscled for a goal, he also scored a goal and did relatively well for his first start. Vale was also lively and carried a threat. Blaming the new guys instead of acknowledging that your veteran defence and goalkeeper are shite is so on-brand for Kettlewell, and it'll be his undoing.
  19. He's 95% footballer and 5% Kettlewell’s pal, so that makes a whole, right?
  20. My bad. I meant to write Butcher and Kelly. Edited above.
  21. All valid questions, but they will only be ironed out once the incompetents are removed from their posts.
