  1. Probably, but I'm sure they'll be fine once they receive those tasty parachute payments.
  2. He’d fire everyone on day one.
  3. To be clear: 1. I do not favour a relegation reboot; that's not what I said. I implied relegation could give the Club the reboot it's seemingly required for a while now, however unwanted and damaging that may be. It would be disastrous in terms of being able to return to the Premiership and the employees, but perhaps our future economic model (all we hear is we're skint) suggests we would be no higher than the bottom of the Premiership or a consistent Championship-level team. It was an off-the-cuff remark because this is a football forum. The reset we need should arise as a consequence of having better strategic, long-term direction driven by a permanent CEO, and that's why I ended my late-night rant on the CEO issue. 2. I did not say Weir was unambitious or unintelligent; he's far from it. He's our interim CEO and is rightly tightening the purse strings this summer, yet we still need a permanent CEO with a long-term vision who is also ambitious and intelligent. Chopping and changing to plug short-term gaps and overpromoting from within may steady the ship for now, but it does no good for our long-term stability and Premiership survival, which is what we all want.
  4. Oh, the irony. Your general behaviour on here is to constantly attack the individual's persona (e.g., calling them clueless or inane, and judging their views) from an apparent high and mighty yet cryptic in-the-know position rather than to constructively critique the individual’s post. It's exhausting, but well done getting the bites, again.
  5. Pitches like those at Rugby Park and Almondvale have no place in elite-level football.
  6. Perhaps inane and disagreeable, but not as inane as your constant cryptic patter. And Clueless is a great movie; Alicia Silverstone at her finest.
  7. Derek Weir is interim CEO and the Club is still trying to recruit a permanent CEO. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2023/08/04/a-note-from-the-chairman-ahead-of-the-2023-24-season/
  8. The Club is and has been rudderless for quite some time. Flow was a breath of fresh air over the years, and that hard work papered over the many cracks, but he eventually left before the Club tainted him or he'd had enough, and now we're here. History is/could be repeating itself and will continue to do so. We either need a relegation reboot or an ambitious and intelligent CEO to turn us inside out and start afresh.
  9. Let's hope young Spencer has the same impact as Penney and Furlong. As he's an RWB, I assume SOD is moving to LWB with Wilson/Soare as cover and McGinley will be offski. As Kettlewell said in his interview today, we can't afford to carry extra bodies anymore.
  10. Obika and Paton were incredibly lazy singings by Kettlewell and it's already coming back to bite him on the arse.
  11. With the much-discussed deficiencies of our current squad as well as our injury list, I think we’d be lucky to get anything better than a 0-0 shitfest out of this game vs a currently high-flying Killie.
  12. I didn't say a ton of cash. I mean we have to sign some more players to fill the gaps and replace the crap. I note you said similar in the ins/out thread. We need more signings.
  13. I disagree. Shields was hopeless before the boo boys started; hence, they started. The booing didn't make him any more shite than he already had proved to be at this level. However, I agree that the verbal abuse and constant booing of our crap players is pathetic behaviour.
  14. A toothless performance and loss should signal the alarm bells ringing and the chequebook out.
  15. Dunne’s tackle was robust but out of control given he clearly knee-capped Biereth in the process. The latter negates the former, so, whichever way people chose to look at it, I find it hard to believe that some are defending him and/or claiming it wasn't even a foul. It's simple: Dunne’s actions endangered an opponent because he wasn't in full control of the tackle. It was idiotic and likely a result of Robinson instructing his big guys to play on the edge to nullify (not kneecap) known danger. And to those who use the ‘Dunne slipped argument’, give it a rest. Professional football players are trained to play to the conditions, so they know exactly what they're doing and can/cannot get away with. It was a terrible tackle and I hope Dunne feels like a right twat given he's seriously injured a fellow pro. As for Robinson, he's a coward in this instance. We now need to sign another messiah.
  16. He also managed us out of the league cup at the weekend.
  17. Given that Kettlewell has been subbing off Bair instead of Wilkinson, I cannot see him dropping the latter for the Killie game.
  18. Those two strikers definitely haven't shown enough yet to suggest they'll score 20+ goals between them. And with Biereth now broken, that's a concern. Re. Davor. Do you remember how long it took Gorrin to settle in our midfield? And then he became pivotal. It's too early to judge.
  19. Yep, Kettlewell clearly has no trust in McGinley and doesn't want to fully blood Wilson yet, so to me it appears that the former is now surplus to requirements. I think the guy deserves a fresh start elsewhere, and I wish him well.
  20. We're only two games into the season and out of the league cup already, and this is already the situation re. Kettlewell’s signings: Davor - early days Obika - injured again Wilkinson - scored v Hibs Bair - scored v Dundee Biereth - a murdered messiah Paton - injured Souare - injured It doesn't look good, but the transfer window is still open.
  21. With Maguire out the door, and hopefully Lamie and Efford following soon, we should have the budget to sign a proper number 9, a versatile wingback and a controlling central midfielder.

Admit it, we’re chronically shit at throw-ins. It’s the Motherwell way.
  23. From the Record: 15:04 SCOTT BURNS Lamie could depart Steelmen Ricki Lamie (Image: SNS Group) Ricki Lamie could leave Motherwell before the close of the window. The experienced defender is attracting interest from the Scottish Premiership and lower leagues in England. Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell is reluctant to let Lamie go but knows he is at an age where he wants to be playing regular first-team football. The 30-year-old has found himself on the bench at Fir Park this season and that has sparked the interest from elsewhere. Motherwell could let Lamie go if that interest is hardened up over the last two weeks of the transfer window. Lamie has been at Motherwell since 2020 and signed a new deal last summer. Kettlewell has reshaped his squad on a shoestring this summer. He has previously admitted that he is unlikely to do any further business unless he can move other players on

Forget corners and free kicks, never in my life have I seen a Motherwell team able to take a successful throw-in. We're just shit at it.
