I realise I said this about McPake, and I've just noted that Kettlewell is the same age as him. However, I may have to stand corrected on the latter, as his interview today was very good. I realise a good interview doesn't make a manager, but Kettlewell (more experienced than McPake) may be the cheap, safe, and best option we need to see us to 10th place, and then reassess. He clearly knows who the shitebags are.
-
Obviously. We've covered this before.
-
I don't know much about Bullen, but what you wrote makes him sound a compelling option.
-
And the same Board that extended Alexander against all common sense.
-
Another young manager (2 years younger than Hammell) is not the type needed to turn our shite squad into a 10th-place team.
-
I don't trust the Board to make the right footballing decision anymore so I wouldn't be surprised if they give the job to someone like him.
-
As I said the other day. I tend to think it's because they're not training hard enough, be that due to shite coaching or laziness, or both as you note.
-
I think it may be the case that we cannot afford to give a new manager a long-term deal until our Premiership status is secure. I also think that should be the approach taken by the Board, even if we can afford a long-term deal.
-
Could a cabal of us here front a few grand each and make an approach?! As amateurish as it sounds, it would likely be better than the WS.
-
No. Aberdeen fans are delusional and we're not. Burrows will soon be found out by their impatient and unrealistic fans.
-
An on-form Joe is a good player.
-
Shite players and a shite manager. A deadly combo.
-
There's a lot being said about what a new manager should be (including from me), but how about we talk about the absolute wage thieves in the squad? I say that with the caveat that some are just fucking shite and that's not their fault, but several others need to stand up or fuck off.
-
As I said, perhaps give the captaincy to a new guy. One not tainted with the past 12+ months of pathetic effort. Perhaps Butcher.
-
Yep, and if we're relegated the clear out will be even bigger.
-
We could be as good for Lambert as he could be for us, if it all worked out that is. I don't imagine he wants a job at our level, but I would think he needs a job at this level to prove himself again. We need someone with experience and something to prove, which may be Lambert. Without that, where does the fight come from? Certainly not from the players, as they've proved time and time again.
-
Thank fuck.

Kelly knows he’s been shite, but he’s been a great keeper for us over the piece. I would not drop him as he will return to form and he is a sellable asset. I do agree that giving the captaincy to a new and vocal outfield enforcer may be a good idea.
-
We don't have time for another experiment. We need a hard bastard with experience.
-
I wonder why we as a Club are so prone to having so many injured players at any one time... Is it because we're just unlucky? or Is it because the players we recruit aren't fit enough or made to train hard enough to build the tolerance required to support them through the rigours of being an elite-level player? or Otherwise?
-
I don't think we're in the position to offer a new manager anything other than a short-term contract to the end of the season. If we offer them an 18-month deal, it has to be with a clause that they fuck off if we get relegated. It has to be on an incentive basis.
-
And this is why I’ll be incredibly disappointed if they give him the job permanently. It’ll repeat the same cycle of shit we’ve just experienced.
-
Kettlewell has a free hit on Weds night, which means he better be brave enough to try something different. I’ve no clue what our strongest starting 11 is at the moment, but I hope he does. Whatever happens, I’ll be there as usual.
-
I don't disagree with your recruitment comment. If you look elsewhere on the forum, you'll see me moaning about Nick Daws. He and several of the players recruited in the past couple of years are part of the problem created by Alexander and the Board. The fact is that the squad is bloated with absolute shite. We desperately need an experienced manager to drag them over the finish line before kicking them all into the abyss at the end of the season.

Neil Lennon until the end of the season. Here's why: I was in Tennents Bar on Byres Road earlier this week and overheard a regular chatting to another regular about their pal, Neil. The chat revolved around how Lennon was back in work doing football consultancy or something like that, but that he was desperate to get back into management. The bonus was that Lennon was not in the bar having pints. I know it's not a good enough reason, but the reaction on here to his appointment would be worth it.
