No. Mugabi and Sol are not good enough.

Outstanding result. If we were more clinical, it could’ve been 5 or 6. Bring on the season!

Not according to a 2008 interview (http://www.motherwell-mad.co.uk/feat/edx1/colin_oneill_speaks_to_firparkcorner_412896/index.shtml): Did you ever consider coaching/management? No, it's not the same. I used to be sick pre-game but being a manager is just not the same atmosphere. I'd rather be out there chasing people and getting involved rather than watching from the sidelines. Seems he's more annoyed with the SFA and lack of support from them after his retiring, and that has translated to him taking his feelings out on the Club (https://m.facebook.com/Colin-ONeills-fight-for-equality-within-SFA-English-FA-623274267809016/)

I am delighted for Hammy. Listening to him talk about an integrated club is positive. Having staff work across all the squads is vital to develop continuity between the Academy and First Team and everything in between. This comment and vision suggest that Alexander was given free rein to do what he wanted, such as relegating Lasley, filling the squad with shit from elsewhere and sticking with the same anti-football hoofball, and look how that ended. Making him King Alexander of MFC is what nearly killed us off. Our Club thrives when we are an enjoyable to watch but an average team who ocassionally punches above our weight. That approach is not compatibile with arrogance. Appointing Hammy suggests to me that the Board now understand what the Club needs and what the fans want. Given we've already entered and been expelled from a Euro campaign and started our season, Hammy's other comments on the lack of fitness and required recruitment are unsurprising but a further damning indictment of the Alexander regime. I would expect Daws to also be mutually-consented soon and for the Board to have learned a very harsh and expensive lesson with the recent Alexander project. Good riddance to Alexander the Failed.

Sheep 1-3 Hammy

These quotes are key to why he is the man for job, and it's clear the board plan to support his plans and give him the resources required. “He inspired us with not only his short-term plans to reshape the squad and adapt the style, but his medium to long-term vision around a fully integrated club and we felt this matched how we see the future of the club. “We think he will bring many qualities to the job that he has demonstrated running the biggest department at the club for almost five years and it’s abundantly clear to us that he has the support and buy-in of the current squad and staff. “We are going to have a busy few weeks and months ahead, but the board will give Steven all the support we can to be successful.”

I am pleased with that. He knows the club, the issues, and the expectations of fans.

I agree on Goss for the St Jonhstone game. He was excellent once pushed inside and dictated play from the middle. On wingbacks, I would prefer a solid back 3 of McGinn - new CB - Lamie, with 2 wingbacks of SOD and new LB. This is the approach I think would suit this squad.
-
I didn't say he didn't change tactics for St Mirren or St Johnstone games, but we did start with the same basic 4-3-3 for both. I was implying that he needs to keep it up and not revert to 4-3-3 Alexanderball at any time. Even with the limited squad, which he has acknowledged, keeping up the less rigid approach to the 4-3-3 with tactical changes demonstrates that he does have an idea of what is required to fix things and, importantly, is not afraid to change it up in the face of an interview.
-
If Hammy gets the Aberdeen game and, considering it is a free hit for him, he doesn't deviate from the failed 4-3-3 to try a 3-5-2 or 4-3-2-1 or otherwise, he may as well withdraw his name from the hat at kick-off.
-
The clearing of multiple decks is absolutely what is required.

That's Andy Dibble gone. A friend of Alexander's. I wonder if Daws is next?
-
Agreed. He touted using new recruitment models in his first interview in summer 2021, but what has he actually achieved other than being Alexander's pal? Let's look below. 2022/23 McGinn - Alexander signed him in an attempt to force out SOD; released by Hibs and easy to get Spittal - Easy to get replacement for O'Hara; known in Scottish system Morris - Alexander's former player and pals with KVV, so not down to Daws 2021/22 Shields - Signed at the same time as Daws joined; a 3-year project, but not good enough Goss - Decent KVV - Alexander's former player, so not down to Daws Woolery - Average journeyman who they let go Tierney - Promising Nirrenold - Not good enough and released O'Connor - Not good enough and released Kelly - We had him on loan long before Daws was on the scene Roberts - On the scene before Daws but we let go Sol - Crap Efford - Crap Ojala - Signed a Finnished pro Slattery - Decent Shaw - Wasted wage Mahon - B team Amaluzor - Crap Parker - Crap Summary For every Slattery/Goss/KVV/Tierney, we've been dealt a volume of shite sandwiches. And some of the appointments wouldn't have required a Head of Recruitment either. We need a new managerial, academy, and recruitment model that works for our type of Club.

I'd take Lennon just for the utter bonkers it would cause.

According to MTV Urheilu, Simo Valakari has been invited to a job interview at Motherwell. Valakari will participate in Wednesday's interview remotely. According to MTV Urheilu, the head coach of Kuopio Palloseura is one of the three remaining candidates to become the new manager of the Scottish Premier League club. One candidate is another, contracted coach. The other is club legend and current interim pilot Steven Hammell. Valakari, 49, has been heavily linked with a Motherwell helm since the sacking of Graham Alexander in late July. Valakari admitted to MTV Urheilu that he is interested in coaching his former club, but called the news from Scotland just a week ago "speculation." KuPS will travel to Switzerland on Wednesday morning, where they will face Young Boys in the third qualifying round of the European Conference League on Thursday. Valakari is expected to take control of the match as usual, despite the job interview. MTV Urheilu could not reach Kuopio Palloseura CEO Jarmo Heiskas to comment on the matter.

Seems like a normal thing for a Captain to do when a team is preparing for a season ahead, and I am assuming you're referring to a time before the Sligo games.
-
If Hammy gets the job, there would hopefully be a provision in his new contract allowing him to return to his current role should it all go wrong, which it very well could if he's not enabled to sign the players required to try to fix things. Otherwise, it's a significant risk for him at this stage of his coaching career. I'd hate to lose him from the Club due to Alexander and the Board's messes.

Proponents of the 4-3-3 should perhaps take a leaf out of Pep Guardiola's book. Today he described the middle of the park as the kitchen of the apartment, where everything happens but only when you populate it with the right amount of ingredients, aka more than three static donkeys.

Nick Daws is a pal of Alexander, and I would argue that he owns some of the serious problems we have with our current squad. Perhaps (or hopefully) we'll see him mutually consented soon too. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2021/06/11/nick-daws-appointed-head-of-recruitment-operations/

Goalkeepers Kelly - class Fox - ok Connelly - ? Defenders SOD - ok Carrol - injured and crap Sol - crap Mugabi - crap Ojala - made of glass Lamie - ok McGinley - crap McGinn - ok Johnston - shows promise Devine - ? Midfielders Maguire - acceptable Spittal - acceptable Slattery - ok Goss - ok Tierney - ok Cornelius - ok Forwards KVV - ok Shields - crap Efford - crap Morris - crap Mahon - ? Summary A team of Motherwell's level will inevitably always have to carry some crap; however, we are overwhelmingly crap due to Alexander. We need to make a lot of signings or we're going down. We need, at least: 1x winger, 2x forwards, 2x centre backs, 1x left back, 1x creative midfielder and 1x big bastard tough guy.

Today summed up just how much of a useless cunt Alexander is. He's left us with one of the worst squads I've seen in years, and I can't believe he thought it was okay to take us into the start of a Euro campaign and new season with that mob of shite. At least Hammy tried to get them playing some football today, but you can only piss with the cock you've got, and that cock is impotent and includes more than one bawbag.
