  1. Well there's 2 done from that list hopefully the big man is ready to go straight in given he was in the stand Saturday I'd assume he's probably had a few sessions with the team and done some fitness work himself in the off season to keep himself fit. We've let 2 CBs go out so I'd expect us to replace 1 even if that's just Welsh coming back to make that pool back up to 4, for me SOD is a RB he can play CB but I wouldn't be advocating him starting there. If you look across the squad we have near enough 2 players per position which is what we need to be able to compete and i suspect what Jens wants as that drives competition.
  2. Hopefully the recent cases remain true then the next 3 games are against the sides at the bottom it's a great chance to build momentum heading into the cup game and if we manage to pick up 9 points we'd be well on our way to a European tour come July/August time.
  3. Playing a team that's not won in 16 i'm slightly concerned given our history against teams in that sort of form. Team for me would be Ward (Where was he Sat anyone know) SOD Mcginn Gordon Longelo Fadinger Preistman Maswanhise Slattery Just Bjorgolfsson (If he's signed in time if not Stama) I suspect this will be similar to the Ross County game where we're trying to break down a low block for the majority of the game. They've got some better players than Ross County so it will be a tough game. Hopefully we get the win and start to build some more momentum going into a busy and season defining February.
  4. As I said above I'm fine with him coming back he's been really good for us I just think given the fact we won't get him permanent and he can't play in the cup surely we try and sign a CB that will be our player permanently and be here next season.
  5. I don't think we need 2 Cbs if Mcghee is back fit he's a solid player and replaces Balmer. I wouldn't say no to Welsh coming back but now he's cup tied it restricts the games he can be used in even further. We have minimum 17 games left and he's unavailable for selection for 3 (providing we finish T6) before returning and any cup games should we progress. Our priorities rest of the window should be:- - Sign a ST (Bjorgolfsson is basically a done deal assuming we're waiting on a work permit before announcing) - Sign a CB (Wither that be a Welsh return or a New CB) - Sign a LB (Longelo needs competition he's been poor since Aberdeen (A) in the QF of the premier IMO needs someone to push him) - Sign a 10 we need an attacking midfielder to open up the low blocks ideally someone of the Spittal mould who can play a pass and shoot from range. - Line up a Maswanhise replacement if the bid we can't refuse comes we need to be prepared and have his replacement lined up. - If we're being greedy we could do with another CM (Halliday and Watt both being out is going to put strain on Slattery, Preistman and Fadinger) so another player in that area wouldn't go a miss unless he has enough trust in Mcallister to play minutes over the run where we have 5 games in 2 weeks or chucks Sparrow in midfield which he's not done all season. - Loan out Luca Ross sitting on our bench most weeks probably isn't helping his development maybe use the co-op agreement with Stenhousemuir and get him some game time that way he can still be used if needed. - Make a decision on Nicholson, Stuperavic and Robinson and Halliday if they're going to play a role keep them if not loan them out/mutual agreement. - Finally once the big Norweigan is announced send Osong back up the road no point him being sat on our bench when he's having little to no impact.
  6. Is there a point in bringing Welsh back it's not his fault but he's now cup tied were realistically not going to win the league so surely we bring in a CB that can play in the only competition we can potentially win.
  7. If Birmingham come in with an opening bid of 4.2M we'll push them to 5 I'd think. I love Maswanhise as much as the next person but we're not turning down a 5M pound offer for a player we got for free 18 months ago.
  8. I'd of rathered Hearts got through tbh and got 1 of the OF at home as I reckon they'd of put them out. Your main hopes for 1 of them 2 going out now are draws for them away at Falkirk and St Mirren.
  9. I'd love Bannan to come to Motherwell but it makes no sense for him at all. Top Championship clubs want him and he'd need to take a massive pay cut, so unless it's family reasons I can't see it.
  10. I was this poster and still am of the opinion prior to Michael Wimmer becoming Motherwell manager Slattery for the most part was pish.
  11. he is Furlong was the Lb we had on Loan from Brighton second half of 22/23 season and was probably the best Lb we'd had since Hammell at that point was good on the ball and defensively
  12. We should be he was good when we had him on loan a few years ago and would provide good competition for Longelo and give us a ready made replacement should we sell Longelo in the summer. We need to get a CB in to replace Welsh/Balmer who has been recalled We could do with a no 10 being signed as well now teams are sitting in against us we need a bit more creativity in the final third. We've apparently signed Ethyor Bjorgolfsson who's a St who scored 15 in 29 games in the sweedish second division this season in a side that got relegated. Jordan Mcghee will be like a new signing now he's fit so that replaces Balmer. If we're being really greedy a RW and Cm would give us real strength and depth and get us into Europe. Need to shift Nicholson, Stuperavic, Robinson, Halliday if we bring in a CM.
  13. Whyte and mcallister are the next 2 youth players who have the potential to break into our first team. Whyte's getting games in L1 which will be good for his development and Mcallister is in our matchday squads at the moment so both will hopefully make it here.
  14. It wasn't a league game they were playing it's the challenge cup they made 8 changes to the team that beat Thistle on Friday. Hale seems to be away so I doubt he'll play against us as they won't want to cup tie him if another team in Scotland want him.
  15. Team v County for me would be Ward JK Mcginn Gordon Longelo Fadinger Preistman Just Slattery Maswanhise Stamatelopoulos AP in so we have a natural ST to occupy their Cbs in the low block.
  16. Happy days then. Hopefully means Jens stays at Motherwell to the end of the season.
  17. I hope they give it to O'Neill. If we can keep Jens to the summer we could end up in Europe and potentially win the cup. It's also difficult to recruit a manager mid season even in the position we're in at the moment. My other concern with Celtic needing a new manager is that Welsh could now get recalled.
  18. They've got a fair few of our ex players who will all be fired up for the game if we play the way we have been in recent weeks we should progress need to keep the ball away from Hale he caused all sorts of problems last season.
  19. Nancy sacked by Celtic now i'm worried about Jens going.
  20. Is that not just part of being a Motherwell fan we don't have nice things very long before someone else comes and takes them.
  21. I can't see Jens going to Aberdeen it wouldn't make any sense for him he's getting all the plaudits for the way we're playing. If he went to Aberdeen he'd have the same teething issues he had implementing his style here but mid-season and a fanbase who think they belong at the top of the league. I think he'll see the season out and asses his options in the summer
  22. ye he's gone apparently strange timing mind you is that boy that's been interim the past few times still there he seems like a decent coach.
  23. I don't disagree I'd far rather they go down South/abroad but at the same time the same way it was when Turnbull went to Celtic if the player wants the move and the money offered is at the level you want it to be their going to move on that is the clubs model and there's no way this time it would be any different.
  24. Realistically if you we're getting offers for Watt, Maswanhise or Just of 3m+ we're going to take it. Also if you look at it from the clubs perspective you'd rather JBA being the manager to replace them. If Slattery wants to stay get him signed up same with SOD all the others OOC should be allowed to move on. If Hendry's out we need a Striker in asap as Osong is poor and people seem to think Stama wants to move on which is fine as long as we recoup what we paid. Think for me this month we need 4 or 5 in everyone around us will strengthen so we're going to have to as well. From his tweets on X Watt's a Rangers fan so if he's angling for that move let him go and make as much as we can from the sale to replace him.
  25. Yes, if any team wants him in January then they'll have to pay a fee.
