Dundee United v Motherwell 22/02/2025

Jesus Christ. -
SOD has achieved the most in football of any our players and possibly, only Lennon will achieve more in of anyone in our squad. You’ll need to forgive me for expecting him to be able to control the ball or pass it to a teammate regularly. Fingers crossed Wimmer and Koc can show him and the rest of the team how to pass to a player in claret and amber

I remember against Raith away he cocked up a few times, and when fans started having a go at him he turned around and started laughing... not a great look. Always, when the going gets tough for the team it seems to affect him & being a 32 yr old experienced player you would expect him to deal with these things a wee bit better. Happy to acknowledge that he played well from around March onwards last year until his injury this season, however it did feel like the reason he was playing well was for a new contract. He has never been very consistent with us which is a shame as I always felt he was in his Partick & Killie days

SOD has been at the club for years and always seems to be at the centre of issues with managers/fan discontent. Maybe if he sorted out his attitude when fans get on his back for some of the absolutely rotten performances he's put in for years, he'd get a bit of slack

Motherwell announcing Stevie Frail as the new manager will have the same vibes about it as the SFA announcing Collum would be the new Head of Refereeing Willie Collum has been appointed Head of Refereeing at the Scottish FA following an extensive recruitment process. The Scottish FA and global sports recruitment experts Elevate Talent compiled a list of experienced applicants from four different continents. Willie’s experience, leadership responsibilities within the Scottish education system, understanding of the Scottish football landscape and resilience made him the outstanding candidate. Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive said: “When we announced that Crawford was leaving at the end of the season the board and senior team were clear that we would leave no stone unturned in getting the best candidate for a job that has become significantly more demanding with the arrival of VAR. “We had applications from experienced candidates across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. It is to Willie’s great credit that he emerged as the outstanding candidate from such a strong international field.

McGhee is a solid player at our level. Has covered nearly every position and scores plenty of goals.

No Kettlewell out shouts this morning then?
-
Paton and Halliday were both excellent yesterday, and amazingly both playing well at the same time. Maswanhise for me though, he bullied Rangers until he ran out of energy

1-2 Motherwell, Miller to score a dodgy pen and Santa to get booed
-
Didn't realsie Ebiye had scored that many. Kimpioka is on 11 this season anyway. I'd rather have him than Robinson.
-
Brutal?? He has more goals than all of our strikers combined lmao

Alex Gorrin?

Saint Mirren v Motherwell 07/12/2024

Only caught the 2nd half thankfully, a clean sheet, 3 points and a Tony Watt redemption goal. Cannae beat it. -
you were saying?

Well, we've not played that well but we're actually attacking for once. That's refreshing at least!

4 big issues with our style of play and Dundee. Their centre backs are all big boys and will dominate if we keep shelling long balls at AP & Maswanhise. Look how comfortable Koumetio and Portales were at Fir Park and the pair of them are shaky players. No idea who their 3rd CB will be. Every time we play Dundee, we give Lyall Cameron the freedom of the pitch. Someone (either Wilson or Davor) has to stay on him the entire game. Murray and Palmer-Holden are both strong and rapid, our defenders are not. PLus they have Curtis Main who will ragdoll our boys. McCracken will likely be their starting goalie, he's pretty poor most of them time. He needs to be up against it from the start as he will probably crumble under pressure. Given how we are currently he will have 1 save to make in 90 mins. 3-0 Dundee, will be surprised if we take anything from this considering they are better than us in every position currently.

Some of the takes on this thread are howling, spent the last day going through after getting back from Portugal. Kettlewell has his faults and is so frustrating at times but he's also doing well enough this season even with a couple of disappointing results, we've had a couple of better ones we expect nothing from. Transfers have been mostly fine but could have been better, is that down to him being shite, or him not being able to secure top targets? Maybe he's a better coach than a manager? That shows with his record in player development but some baffling tactical changes. But the players seem to fight for him and he seems to care enough about the club/fans. What more do folk want? We're not an attractive prospect for a Jimmy Thelin regen. Even the seasons we finished 2nd we lost double figures of league games and had bad cup results. When we were good back then, we still only got around 4-5K fans in the stands. A lot of users here just need to realise that's Scottish football, and we have our place in it.

Oooft just seen McGinn is out, good news for Balmer/Casey fans. Means Johnny K will get put up the pecking order as well.
-
that's ma boy
-
Should also add, I think that was Moses' best game for us despite not scoring.
-
Imagine how good we'd be if we started the first half of games the way we started the second half yesterday. I get why we play the way we do by setting up not to lose and then take the shackles off later in the game, and it is effective clearly, but my god it can be frustrating sometimes

Has to be Ox again, feel like he gets MOTM every week. Amazing the difference a competent goalie makes. Watt would be my second choice, thought he made a big difference when he came on.
-
Took me an hour but got there in the end
-
Any idea how to buy tickets for this? I have an online account with Hibs as I've been before, but cannot see how to get a ticket in the away end
-
And on the flip side, Nathan McGinley is evidence you can have a ok career whilst being absolutely shite
