One of these strange games where they all did well but nobody stood out. In the end going for the Hump but could have been any of the 11 starters really.

Higdon's yellow card at the goal celebration was costly in my view. Because I think he was about to tackle the Aberdeen player who crossed for the equaliser then chickened out of it, I assume in case he got sent off. Kmcalpin is right about Lasley - that is as poor a game as I have ever seen him play, he seemed to have a spring in his boot sending everything he hit heavy and Higdon really struggled to get involved, partly because Ojamaa and Murphy played so wide and when the ball came for him to hold there were three Aberdeen players round him like flies round a shite to stop him knocking it one way or other. Murphy is really in the zone just now, as well as good striking and wing play he also helped Hammell more than ever I have seen before and given the pace of their midfielders it was a good job from him. Overall I think the game buzzed about from end to end without much quality in the final ball from either team. I said beforehand that there wasn;t the width of a fag packet between these two teams ability wise and I suspect it will be another tight, tense affair at Fir Park next midweek. That Langfield passback incident was one of the bizarrest I have ever seen. Baffling that we didn't get either a corner or free kick from it. As the Motherwell players argued I think you could see a realisation on Collum's face that he had made an arse of it. Replay could go either way - would be really good if we could get the home win monkey off our back against Ross County on Saturday.

It was a pretty rotten game yesterday caused by two factors; 1) How Hearts set up 2) How we had no idea how to combat it What then happened was the game became embroiled in the middle with a lot of nothingness. Every now and then we got a spell when we were quick on the ball and created a spark and you thought we could maybe turn this but it never really happened. However, in games like that the important thing is to make sure the other team end on 0 and you take your point and move forwards.

Me neither, Strange how the world runs, this time last year was exactly the same - we were cursing our home form and it suddenly clicked about January whilst doing OK away. Hopefully Saturday will be a slightly more premature clicking!

Lets be honest Celtic are the only team who are significantly better than us. However, us and Aberdeen can be split by the breadth of a fag packet - there is every chance we can win, every chance we will lose so if we get lucky we have every chance of a run but just as easily we could be out a week on Sunday. Not looking beyond this game.

To be honest at 4-1 and 89 minutes I was already fairly confident it was going to be our day!
-
I thought Ojamaa's running created all the space for the rest to perform and he was decent on the ball too. Could easily have gone for Higdon, Murphy, Law or even Randolph.
-
Goalkeeping errors for goals four and five and to be honest that was a tougher second half than 5-1 suggests though to be honest it should have been 4-0 at half time on balance of play. Need to bring that performance to the table at Fir Park now.

Cummins caught on the wrong side yet again for their goal. But absolutely full credit to us. You'd expect the team with fragile confidence to then retreat, question themselves again whilst the one on a winning run to kick on but we stepped it up, kicked on and the third goal was coming when it came. Ojamaa should have scored though. Hope it doesn't bite us. Also, if we've not been training as much the pressing game we have been playing could have taken a lot out of us so we may get tired later on so the speed on the break might not be there. Good hour though.

Reason we are winning is because we are keeping the ball. Reason we are keeping the ball is if we can't go forwards we go back. Reason they were never winning it was nobody was putting pressure on the ball to Randolph, Hutchinson and Cummins. Last ten minutes they changed that a bit forcing us to concede possession a bit more - having Foran in a more attacking place will make it a tougher second half. We've not had the gilt-edged chance to go 3-0 up but hoping we don't regret missing the ones we have had.

think its a virus rather than injuries. Could be the day off tomorrow is the best thing for us, gives them an extra day to recover. Over the last few weeks we have under-achieved and they have over-achieved which really has flipped since we tanked them back in August. Before that you could argue it was the other way round. Really don't think theres a lot between us and could see it going either way.
-
We are about 80% a good team just now but the same weaknesses keep biting us. Our central defensive pairing are like lost sheep half the time. And for all the possession and territory we have we do not create enough chances - partly due to really poor crossing and partly due to a lack of willingness to take the ball on. Except the Hibs game where we did create a few chances it has happened time and time again this season.

Dundee United went five without a goal and only two points. And when they were doing it they shipped four to Inverness, three to Hearts. And whilst our run has been poor, the games we have lost have been to Hearts, Hibs, Dundee Utd and Celtic who should, crisis at Tynecastle excepting, finish as four of the top five. I was confident we would win at Perth because we are better than the teams in the lesser order and I would always back this team to beat Dundee, Killie, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Ross County and even Inverness. And whilst I know we have had three draws against them they were all on the back of a Euro game. We're not going to be top three or four this year - but we will be comfortably in the middle.
-
Not the breadth of a fag packet between us ability wise if we play to our best. Which means there is a 50% chance we're getting papped out before Christmas.
-
I think its because you can't see the results until you do vote so if you weren't there and want to see the result the poll you need to null vote.
-
I think part of the issue is Higdon doesn't jump that often, he stands waiting for the ball to come to him which makes it look less of an infringement because there seems to be less of an attempt to play the ball, thats not really a criticism of Higdon just an observation. The reason I think he does it is that his close control is better with his chest than with his head.
-
Murphy and Ojamaa were brilliant, the latter would have been better had it not been for his finishing. However, my vote goes to the captain who was absolutely outstanding, broke up the play and led the defence through the game at one end and a creative spark at the other. By far his best performance of the season.

I would like to point out the referee the day he got the hattrick was Stevie O'Reilly. Just saying like. Yesterday I thought the referee favoured the defenders all the time.
-
Given we look midtable team in the league, we're out the League Cup, what we really want from the Scottish Cup is to be in it after Christmas. Any team home or away that just about guarantees that. Any non SPL team, not Dunfermline or Partick and certainly not Rangers will do me.

Year ago this weekend I went to watch Blackburn v Chelsea and it was £20 for car parking there.

Ojamaa and Murphy really flirted all over the place just over Higdon - their movement was outstanding. Ojamaa just can't buy a goal but I thought his performance was very good today less the finishing. We retreated too deep at times which is a sign of a team lacking confidence - St Johnstone did exactly that when we were 1-0 down to them at Fir Park back in August and they hadn't won for ages. I've got to say I've never been all that worried the last few weeks - we were outplayed by a better team against Celtic, we had more of the Hearts game and played reasonably well against Hibs and got no breaks at all. I felt when we got back to the lesser teams the wins would be back. St Johnstone may have been on a great run but apart from the game against Celtic they've played all the lesser lights. Will be interesting to see the Cummins tackle back - my instinct was he got the ball but obviously the St Johnstone players and fans thought otherwise however given they thought it was a foul and a red card and we scored about a minute later to make it 2-0 so it was the big point of the game.

Correct. McCall was pretty close to faultless last season in the SPL but this season he has made mistakes in both the home games in particular. He was too slow with the sub against St Johnstone and left us with a poor formation that cost us a goal from a set play. On Sunday we invited too much pressure on ourselves because the formation we had offered no stability at all and St Mirren were allowed too many chances to ping the ball in the box. Our players just don't seem to grasp how to play the 4-3-1-2 formation we tried on Sunday when the opposition have the ball which meant they ended up with far too much of the ball. If we are going to play that we need to solve that problem out or we will create ourselves lots of problems.
-
We were really poor today. The 4-3-1-2 is maybe not a bad formation for us but we need to defend in the midfield a lot better than we did today. There was nobody out on the wing so often and we let St Mirren play far too many balls into our box. Regardless of Hutchinson getting sent off it was only a matter of time before Thompson or Parkin won one and made us pay. I think, whilst our players have done very well for us, they need the rigidity of a 4-4-2. But what I found mindboggling was that McCall never recognised this - he should have had Humphrey on and changed the formation in the first ten minutes because even then it was obvious what was panning out. The game spilled over due to the drop ball incident as that seemed to really fire our boys up and it was obvious Hutchinson was going to get sent off after picking up the yellow as you could see the red mist had descended. I think the first yellow was to be deserved though the second one was harsh but there was no need to be sliding in like that. Thought the referee, having been excellent for 80 minutes, really lost the plot in the last ten. It seemed also like after the drop ball incident he seemed rattled and in that period of the game gave St Mirren everything. For all I thought our defending out of possession was poor we really did defend well in the penalty box and the back four have to take some commendation.
