Actually quite confident we'll get a reaction today and come away with three points.
-
Correct!

This is good news because?
-
Pretty sure that will be why CB picked him.

Agree 100% with that hence I think we should make a commitment now. Offering managers six month contracts to me has no value no matter who you are. We need to decide now if Craig Brown is who we want next season. If we say aye sort it, if we say no get someone else in this week.

With every passing article you realise that Gannon, whilst a good football manager, obviously has no people skills at all and unless he sorts it he'll not get far in the football world. ANyway as for Jim O'Brien, always thought he was a bit underrated and then every time he turns the corner throws in a couple of duff performances. But I think enjoyment is everything to a winger and if he is enjoying his football then he will do well for us. At the start of this season he excited me more than anything else. However, regardless of the method of it being done, he deserved to be dropped when he was on performances. Hope this time he is back for the season with a performance like the one I heard he produced yesterday.

I thought he was a good pick the day Gannon left and nothing has changed. He clearly has the respect of the players, is doing it for the love of the job, knows the SPL pretty well, will have no aspirations of moving to greater things - what more do we want?
-
Keep up missing chances? More likely we'll lose 1-0!

Sun 11am and Mon 10am have been requested by Inverness.

I think the club's relationship with fans is important and I am pleased that they are open to suggestions. My feeling is we have the Trust and the Supporters Association with their separate constitutions and reasons for existance and behind that there are reasons that people will not join these groups. However I question if Motherwell is big enough that it could justify a third official supporters group as I think all it will do is dilute the aims and objectives of each other and we'd end up with three OK organisations. To me the club should let the rebranded Trust develop for a year or two before setting something independent up and then look at it then and see what the gap is and then work with the Supporters Association and Trust to see if they could cover them or whether a new organisation. In the meantime I think the club should do three things: Anonymous feedback section on the Club website (details could be included voluntarily) about anything within Fir Park. Could then post up official answers on the web. Think it is important this kind of thing is on official site rather than here so club has complete control of information provided. A series of one off focus groups regarding the fans' views on the club. A cross section of Trust, supporters association could easily be picked if the other organisations provide a members list to the club. The club must have a huge database of fans from season ticket holders and also those who have bought away tickets over time. A questionnaire to all season ticket holders at renewal time.

I hate Jim Jefferies, always have done. However I think he would do a good job for us if he was appointed but he would not be close to my number one pick so its a no but not as a resounding no as most on the thread.

No idea if its true or not but someone on FPC said they couldn't afford to turn it on and the area around the ground was preventing it from being an issue. All in with milder weather forecasted for the weekend I suspect heating may not be an issue regardless. Sadly the way its worked out will be missing this one and the rearranged cup tie!

I think more and more of the atmosphere has gone from football because of dwindling away supports. I know we have our days when ours is shit but actually proportionately ours has held up much better than Hearts, Aberdeen, United, the Old Firm. A lot has left football because of the non-existant travelling fan base so if that is something the Trust can work on with the other eleven teams (or nine if you want to miss the OF then that would be great). I think that would make a start of the atmosphere as well. I think also the SPL clubs could try and work with Scotrail. E.g. present your match ticket and get your train ticket half price. It works with Ryanair for trains to Prestwick, if it encourages more people to travel, gets people on the trains and in the grounds and therefore in the pubs, betting shops, even hotels could be a great jump start to the economy. I actually think that supporters have lots of good ideas that the clubs should be exploring and I think the Trust is an avenue to put them through. Would also appreciate a formal bit of confirmation of receipt of my joining fee that I paid at the Q and A session. Though appreciate what Speedie said further said further up that its a work in progress.

Just as an aside the Killie v Falkirk rematch for Tuesday has been postponed again and will now be played on Monday 18th.
-
Two tough games but two winnable games. Granted would have looked for something more interesting than somewhere we go twice a season anyway but it could have been Ibrox, Parkhead, Easter Road or something where we would have been up against it as well.
-
We'll be lucky to have a game by the end of January let alone take some points at this rate....
-
Disappointed but not surprised. The weather is so volatile that encouraging folk to drive up the A9 would be mental. I think the police have been over protective in some cases recently but given the road (and I know somebody who had to go from Perth to Inverness via Fort William taking seven hours on Tuesday) and the determination of football fans to see their team especially in the cup they got this one bang on. What I would like the SFA to do is to cancel the league card on 23rd and play the cup games then which would mean all the wee teams get their day in the sun and bigger pay day and the league games could be moved to a night fixture where the decrease in crowd would not be so dramatic.

Imagine the SPL will announce tomorrow or Wednesday now they are back from holidays. Gentle hint guys, we have three Wednesday games already, think of those of us who do something on Wednesdays and give us a Tuesday - please. Or cup fifth round day maybe worth a shot!

Obviously didn't pray hard enough on the Conroy front - missed a clear red and a good goal, both in the same direction. Richmond had a good game - again!

Not seen the United v Aberdeen incident yet so hard to comment. However managers talking out their hole will not change whoever the head of refs is. However Dallas is going to have a lot to worry about this week. He has this United v Aberdeen incident and McGhee questioning the use of assistants. He has Smith v Collum (which to me was a clear red card anyway, and whatever Collum told the players on the pitch is superceded by what he saw on the replay). So go Willie C. And what Smith said about him is out of order. He also has the Falkirk game being called off when one ref passed it before the match ref called it off and then the players went out and played a bounce game on the pitch. Its not a job I envy! However he must be praying to God, Allah, Buddha and anyone else that listens that Steve Conroy has a good game today. And I daresay his second prayer would be that Charlie Richmond does in Edinburgh too.

I'd appoint them full time now. Both know the game, command respect and are in it for the enjoyment and not themselves unlike the previous two managers. The enthusiasm and excitement that has come out of Craig Brown's mouth every time he has spoken since Tuesday can only rub off on the players. When I first heard their names mentioned I was nonplussed but the more I think on it the more I want it long term.

In recent years its not the home support that has dwindled but the away support. We used to get about 6500 for games with United with 4000 home fans and 2500 away fans. Whereas now we have 4000 home fans and a few hundred visitors. However Motherwell with its outlying areas (Carluke, Lanark, Wishaw, Newmains, Bellshill, even Shotts) has potential for much more than that. Going to the football becomes a habit - I am 27 now and I don't imagine many folk my age are going to start going to the football so the two areas to hit are people who were regular and stopped and those at school and therefore by default their parents. Price is big and experience is big. But I think the SPL teams need to work together to encourage better away supports.

Anyone whose got a ticket confirm if a refund is available if game is off and cannot go to rematch? Also is ticket office open on Monday?
-
This is Accies whose car park was frozen so they weren't allowed to play on Wednesday. If they could have given 100% guarantee of game being on though I don't see why we couldn't have switched and played our Feb game at Motherwell. They let Airdrie and Dundee do it.
-
I see their game is off tomorrow. There was 12 inches in a village just a few miles out of INverness yesterday so no great surprise. I would imagine some sort of natural thaw is required. They do have heating as an SPL team last season however given its been in the minus teens up there I imagine its not been effective enough (I'm sure I read if it went below -7 USH couldn;t cope as it would burn the grass but that could be wrong).
