Dillon is a total diddy. I think the 30 seconds of play leading to our penalty at Tannadice is all the evidence you need. DC'd is bang on about there not being much between our first elevens however as I've said before United will beat us over the season because they have more experience and a bit more depth. Dixon is a bit guilty of over attacking so however is playing right mid for us on Saturday will have a role to play in getting the ball in. Thats over or round the man Yass! It should be a game for the quicker players we have to get through the middle because their centre halves are carthorses and attacking them with any speed is liable to have them standing off or conceding a penalty. Really looking forward to this one.

Its the in thing at the moment to be seen to be giving the troops a good deal. No idea why, they do a job and are paid a wage reflective of that job just like the rest of us. Which without knowing I would suspect is larger than most of us. Club must be hoping that if people get into the way of going to Fir Park when they are not in action that when they leave the army they will want it as a way of normal life and they will then purchase one of their own. To be honest I don't see it being a great success for the club apart from a nice wee bit of publicity in the Record today. We're not a charity! Soldiers don't get free milk from Asda, free beer from Jack Daniels or free lotto tickets from Camelot so why football clubs seem to think it is their duty to give them stuff for free is beyond me. That is not to say I am not grateful for the work our soldiers do and the risks they take; but I am also grateful to doctors, nurses, fire officers, cancer researchers, teachers and nobody is expecting them to get a freebie.

So we've seen the interview, how will the Sun or Record sensationalise it?

I thought the comment was aimed more at Iwelumo.

Got to say getting really pissed off about the negative coverage Crawford Allan has got in the press for sending off McDonald. The rules state he must caution a player who covers his head with his jersey. I know its a daft rule but it is the rule. I'm fed up with journalists taking potshots at people when they are doing nothing wrong (or in this case applying the rules of the game). Glad Stuart Dougal backed him up in the record. But scoring him 4/10 as the Sunday Mail did yesterday because of that decision is disgraceful and disrespectful as it suggests that the journalist who is scoring it does not know the rules of the game. Got to say its a rule that any right minded individual wants to change but to blame the ills of the rule on that referee by publicly slating him is out of order. And Ruddy whilst a very good 'keeper is no where near England's level. I think both he and Jut are better than I expected (or even dared hoped for) but I don't see any of them cutting it in the Premiership. The Jut is too quiet for too long in games though when involved is excelled. And Ruddy makes too many ruddymentary errors. Thinking Hibs game in particular.

If we play to our best and United play to their best then it will be a cracking close game. United have more depth than us and more experience than us so over the course of a season I would expect them to come about eight to twelve points ahead of us. However its close enough that in any one off game we can beat them. We just need to make sure Saturday is one of them.
-
There were three teams in the bottom half last season who United managed to beat once in the nine games they played (us, Killie and Accies). They have shown a bit more of a ruthless streak this season hence them only having lost once. MJC - I remembered that game but thought it was the season before. I stand corrected. However nearly three years without a home loss against a team who are consistently top six is good return.

That goal was my fault. Nothing to with the defence. Some bugger near me said that it was never a corner and I said, it hardly matters we don't lose goals from these anymore. So humble apologies to all. Seriously though I'd rather have them marking men. Two reasons - 1) as said its rare that the clearance is made and 2) if the clearance is a hit and hope the man on the post ends up playing anyone who is interfering with the goalie onside if the other team have a potshot from the clearance.

In January last season we went to Tannadice and they were unbeaten in 17 and we put four by them. We went to Tannadice in September and they were unbeaten this season and had just come off a good result with Celtic and we beat them. I could be wrong but I don't think they have won at FP since that mental 4-5 game and our record up there is somewhat decent - couple of defeats in McGhee's first season but on the whole recent history has not had us losing many. Of course they could beat us and are probably better than us but I think we are very capable of beating them again. We are still the only team to have beaten them this season. Looking forward to it already.

Look on the FIFA website where it states that a referee must caution a player if he removes his shirt or covers his head with it. Pretty definite and no room for common sense. The ref would have been marked down had he not booked him. Agree the law is an ass but as the enforcer of that law the ref was quite correct. Actually thought on the whole he was pretty good yesterday. Agree also that I didn't think he was going to book Coke until influenced but could be wrong.

Actually thought our best spell of the game was from about 55 mins until they equalised. Won't be a popular opinion but the best summary of the match I've heard was from Mutley on the BBC website. Not sure if JOB for Forbes was the reason for Aberdeen's resurgence in the second half, I think it may have happened anyway, however it certainly didn't help. Certainly was O'Brien's quietest half for a long time. Got to say Aberdeen were much better than I have seen them for a few seasons today. I know we mock McGhee but I have a feeling he may be beginning to make a difference there. Dammit.
-
I know there are lies, damned lies and statistics but who would have thought that the season we had scored the fewest goals at this point was McGhee's first season! Perhaps putting the ball in the pokey is not as big a problem as we have been making out.
-
Nothing much to add really. Would have taken a draw at 3pm, 430pm, 440pm but round about 330pm and 435pm was wanting a win. Every now and then you get days it just doesn't quite happen and while we dug in yesterday and got the point we at least deserved we should have got more but Cerny was excellent and sometimes you just need to concede that.

Motherwell 0 ICT 1 when Marshall couldn't see for the sun was so disappointing because we were playing so very well at the time.
-
Think Gannon probably deserved his, won all the home games drew all the away games. Do that all season and you'll be tough to stop. Agree with the comments re Jutkiewitz who has done well scoring in two of the four games, from what I heard excellent at Parkhead and led the line well on Saturday but just not convinced he has done enough to win the award. His advantage over Saunders is that he is an attacker and therefore gets noticed more often. However its nice to see the silverware down Motherwell way so mustn't grumble.

We got one v Livi as well I remember. Foran had missed a pen but we were 1-0 up at HT. Whelan scored to level it and we scored really late. THat sparked a mass celebration in row S.

That Nevin one was a cracker. That one had slipped my mind.
-
Same old favourites. Hearts in LC semi, both of McDonald's v Celtic, both v Aberdeen in Europe day and Porter's equaliser against Hearts in the cup.
-
I think the European games are much more likely to bite come February time. The year we came third under McGhee Hibs were only one point off the lead at this time in the season yet ended up receding an awful lot after the turn of the year.

People in glass houses and all that -its exactly the same as we charge them!

O'Brien - ran all day and that guy Thomson did not know what to do with him. But he gained us a man advantage with perseverence which was so beneficial in the seven added minutes and the technique on the volley was outstanding. However to me you could make an argument for everyone in the team apart from Ruddy (and that was just because Hearts were kept so quiet!).
-
We defended well and awaited the chances to come. The first half was dull but we were knocking on the door. And the chances did come. A wonderful finish from Forbes and a goo shout out to Hutchinson for having the awareness not to go for the header which many (much more experienced) players would have done and a sweet crisp finish. Adding on seven minutes and the red card were the only things the tit in the middle did today that were right. But what impressed me was the way we held the ball during that seven minutes. They only had one foray into our box at that time. Mouatakil still needs to be more aware of the left winger when we not in possession and Ruddy maybe a bit over keen to play short when he has it and when we have the pace of O'Brien and Humphry the long kick is a viable option. All in a good day's work and a professional performance.

Yes and no. When Sutton played up top on his own against Flamurtari the midfield were right beside him. Granted the opposition was duff but it worked well. But it worked because Sutton has enough in him to track back and win it further back and then progress without the ball. And if that boy plays for Everton I will be astonished.

I think the chance on Tuesday was much tougher than people give it credit for. It was bouncing and movig sharply, Gallacher was alert to it and he could only have one touch. However I think he is very guilty of being too far away from anyone else and he does not have the pace nor the touch to play on his own. The goals he scored on Saturday were when we were flooding forward or Sutton was supporting him. However he looks sharp hence I think we should play two up top closer together to let him flourish.
