  1. Thought he did quite well considering its his first game. Two bookings were right and generally seemed keen to let it flow. Impressed. Though technically our free kick at the corner of the box for Skelton's foul on Clarkson should have been indirect but no major gripe.

    The run has ended! Boooooooooooooo.

    Brian Mclean

I thought McLean was the best player on the pitch last week and I thought he was far from rubbish today though him and Hammell did disappear for their first. I'd still sign him up.
  4. Game of the season: I think the best game for entertainment we were involved in was beating United 2-1 at Fir Park in March. After that probably the league cup loss to the Accies was a thriller even though it went against us. Goal of the season: I always prefer a team goal or a bit of creativity to a hit unless its a special volley or something, so would probably pluck for O'Brien's v Aberdeen or Sutton's v Hamilton (just for Sheridan's turn) Player of the season: Clarkson Best moment: We played poorly v Celtic at Fir Park in Feb and created little so Quinn scoring and getting a point that was unlikely beforehand and scarcely deserved Worst Moment: Billy Mehmet scoring in the cup at Paisley when we had no time to do anything about it. Surprise of the year: Beating United 4-0 Worst player of the year: Reynolds Young player of the year: O'Brien Overall: 6/10 - anticlimatic but still some good away days, perhaps Europe at the end of it and there is still clear daylight between us and relegation which for Motherwell is always good.

Aye the ability to ot square the ball to the onrushing forward five yards from goal and to use his bad foot at least once per match remotely productively.
  6. I think that this has been one of the slowest ever. Losing to St Mirren in the cup seems like years ago, Nancy games seem decades ago. Anyway for Saturday I would continue with Hutchinson, bring Slane in and maybe one other and let them have a shot surrounded by the first teamers.
  7. My point was by providing nothing on the back of a story which did state one of two things could happen they could be seen to be hiding something. You and I are on the web every day so its no value add to us. I think something (even a one liner) that just reminds the fans we know you don't know the resolution of this one is worthwhile.
  8. I only ever read the headlines to be honest. Everyone knows that GS and SH have a contract up in the net few weeks so by stating GS goes haw this week and GS goes hum the next week you are keeping the fans up to date. If you leave it out then people will ask what the hells going on. Very tough balancing act as i assume all the subscribers don't read the web/papers every day so to know exactly what is going on this is their only chance.
  9. I think Man CIty's performance in that game is reason enough for nobody to know. If Killie could still go down and we knew a yellow could cost us Europe then Killie would be seriously advantaged. As I said earlier it is in the rules that I may have read on this thread what needs to be considered and that any club can follow how the points are allocated at the end of the season. And if we don't get and put in a legal challenge I will be raging - I'd much rather we spent our time and money improving thesquad for net season. THe more I think of it our piss up is the main benefit of this damn thing.
  10. UEFA rules say it must be tracable how marks are given for all the different criteria so while I'm not saying Hibs won't beat us to it, I'm pretty sure if they do they will have met the criteria more than us and not because of some whim that they would rather have Hibs in.
  11. BBC and Sporting Life both say five (yes only five) guys.
  12. Thought all eleven acquitted themselves well today and considering how flat the season could have become the application was impressive. McLean seems to have come on leaps and bounds over the last few weeks. Thought he looked a sophisticated full back today. Also Hutchinson looks no worse than Reynolds on that showing and would not be averse to letting him have another shot next week. Front three all did well too. Sheridan involved in every promising Motherwell attack, some of the ones that didn't bear fruit were down to him as well but at least he kept banging on the door. Accies I thought looked tired and nervous and we certainly got them at the right time. They are a much better team than that - glad they stayed up. If they could gee themselves up to beat st Mirren that would be great.

Part of the reason for the apathy is really the cost is too much in a recession for people to pay for when the game is of little or no consequence to our team. Happy to pay £20 for a meaningful game when fighting for our lives, Europe or whatever but not for a dead rubber at Falkirk. Football partly brings it on itself as it costs too much but thats not really the debate. I like the split as to me 12 is the right size for the SPL and it gives you the right number of games. Its not ideal and has flaws but to me for the country size and quality we have it is the least bad solution.

Wasn't there so can't comment properly but I'm sure they said on the radio one set the other up for the 2nd goal and one came on as a subby. Doesn't seem like a bad return to me!
  15. John Hendry - no, not that one. The Glennie/Mitch shot is asking for a caption competition.

Inclined to agree - we're at the top of the fair play league from when we've been trying our hardest so really there should be no need to change our outlook.

First home game I'm going to miss this season. They will want it more and Butcher has instilled some passion in them - I think we'll get beat 2-0 with goals from Foran and Rooney. Most important thing is to behave!
  18. I don't know, our defenders were in the same timezone which was more than theres were when Murphy scored. And I thought McLean (I think) was reasonably close to O'Donnell and it was a fine finish.
  19. And this is the ref who sent Paterson off for timewasting at Killie in the Malpas season
  20. But there are seats that are not ST seats that will be available - worth asking the club
  21. My letter arrived this evening - yes this evening - Royal Mail decided that ten past six was the appropriate time to deliver our post today which is an utter disgrace which I will raise with them - they are really pissing me off the now as my bank statement was half way out the letter box last week. Anyway now that rant is over I'll be online sometime after payday on the 18th to do the renewal job. Good that the club are better organised though there is usually something good about being at no football for a couple of weeks, buying the ticket whetting your appetite for next season.
  22. And the change from St Mirren and Falkirk is?
  23. Maybe not the essence of fair play but we should hire a hitman for Dougie 'red card' McDonald before Wednesday!
