The way this is going, the Killie chairman might be stood in shock next to Charles Green following the vote, while the other ten SPL club chairmen head off out for celebratory drinks...

Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco
Jay replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
Some boy! -
Good question. There's no real point if the voting deadline is the 29th...
-
Agreed. I'll be looking mine out shortly. My attendance at away games in the new campaign will still be up for debate depending on how the SPL as a whole votes (just the actual games mind, I'll still be in about the away days!) - but this move from the club has secured my season ticket money and my continuation as a member of the Well Society. Even if by some sort of miracle the Society votes 'yes', the club itself has got a lot of respect back from me through this move.
-
My faith in Motherwell Football Club has been instantly restored.
-
Given the club's last statement told us how, if we note no, we'll have real financial obstacles given there's still contracts to be honoured, I'd assume (and hope) it's nothing to do with new signings or new contracts. My money is that they've used the Well Society money to buy Rangers who will be known as Motherwell Reserves and will be used as a feeder team for our main Champions League side.
-
@AndrewWilsonAJW He deserves a lot of credit to be fair. In the aftermath of the club's last statement, he was on Twitter trying to answer plenty of questions and putting across the point that it was meant as an outlining of what will happen when/if we vote 'no', rather than reasons to vote 'yes'.

There's a difference between a few Celtic fans joining in and over a hundred of them (who won't be anywhere near the actual demo) being invited to the Facebook page by some idiot trying to turn it into an event page for all clubs rather than just Motherwell. There should be an attempt to get as many folk along as possible. If someone's considering going along and has a look at the Facebook event for the details only to see it's swarming with Celtic fans for no apparent reason, they're naturally going to be put off. By all means keep the current Facebook page, as long as whoever made it keeps an eye out and gets rid of any more pish from Celtic fans.
-
Right, thanks to that "crossed wires" spanner there's now a load of Celtic randoms joining the event page. Get the page deleted and get a new one made. Still plenty of time to spread the word and the current page has been infected.
-
Good idea actually, I'll be Daniels before and after anyway mind you! But aye, could whoever made the page update the description bit? Just to say what it is, stress the fact it's for Motherwell fans, and put something in about it being at noon but folk can meet at Daniels at half 11?
-
Guys a tube. Whoever's in charge of the page, get his posts deleted.
-
I saw that - I thought maybe he'd meant to include a link to another page rather than it referring to the MFC page. Could be wrong but thought that might make more sense.
-
No idea. Think he might be the guy behind the 'No to Newco Demo' Twitter.
-
There already was one created by Steelmen Online mate. Anyway, it's here. Probably be best to delete the new one.

Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco
Jay replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
Indeed. We do something revolutionary - insane, some might say! We sell the rights to the SPL as a package containing twelve teams, and split the TV money fairly between those twelve teams. Who Sky Sports and/or ESPN then put on the TV is entirely up to them. If any team thinks they could make more TV cash on their own outwith the SPL (presumably selling the rights to live footage of their training sessions) then they can batter in. Sheer madness. -

It'll be for all fans I assume, there would be no other way to do it. -

The Celtic support threatening boycotts and playing the integrity card is ridiculous. Strikes me more of an attempt to jump in with threats so if we end up voting 'no', they can champion themselves as the saviours of the game, without whom our board would surely have voted 'yes'. For what it's worth, after weighing up the points from Andrew Wilson on Twitter (who deserves credit for answering questions from a number of 'Well fans on there following the statement), the explanations from Flow (again, credit due for him for answering questions on Twitter, albeit purely his own opinions), and the woman from Well Society who answered my e-mail regarding a refund if I cancel my membership - all of whom stressing their belief that the club statement was not reasons to vote 'yes', but rather preparing the fans for what lies in store if we vote 'no' - I've calmed down somewhat and reckon we could still fall on either side. If anything, the backlash from a statement that implies a 'yes' vote must have given the club an idea of just how huge the backlash would be if they actually voted 'yes'. With the 'fans forum' presumably next week and the protest on the 30th growing in numbers, I believe a 'no' vote is just as likely as a 'yes' vote at this stage, despite the statement - which I still maintain was either a deliberate attempt to sway some 'no' voters, or a very poor bit of public relations. -

For those on Twitter, the account is "No2NewcoDemo". -

I take it we don't have the protest thread now either then? Talk on Twitter seems to be some sort of effort to get all fans to gather outside their respective clubs' stadiums at the same time on the 30th of June. -

Club statement implying 'yes' vote yesterday, vote poll showing overwhelming support for 'no' vote deleted today... Conspiracy!! -

Oh aye, I agree with that. However, it was still worthwhile having something concrete to show just how big the support for the no vote was. It was also useful when discussions on forums like Pie & Bovril were taking place about each club's respective polls. -

Bit disappointed in merging all the threads. Each thread, although to do with the newco fiasco, was about different subjects or scenarios regarding it. If folk can't be bothered to click onto a different thread they didn't need to bother, merging them all has just been largely pointless IMO (at least for something as huge as this) and, if anything, has just resulted in a lot of good points made recently being lost in amongst a load of other stuff. However, more importantly, where has the vote poll gone? -

If it was originally planned for the Cooper or the Centenary, they might need to hire out the Civic now... -

For anyone who hasn't been able to read the statement from our 'undecided' club yet, here's a brief summary: Paragraph 1: Details of fan forum & board decision making. Paragraph 2: No decision has been made yet. Honest. Paragraph 3: Andrew Lapping doesn't speak for us. Paragraph 4: The club knows the support is overwhelmingly opposed to a newco. Paragraph 5: The club recognises that few businesses flourish by ignoring their customers' wishes. Paragraph 6: It might not matter as the EBT thing might fuck Rangers anyway. Paragraphs 7 - 17: Reasons for voting 'YES'.
