Said at half-time that it felt like watching a pre-season friendly - that's fair enough for a Celtic side that's season is over, but absolutely ridiculous for us given we're supposed to be in the hunt for a Champions League spot. Deserved nothing, got nothing. Absolutely garbage.
-
So are we expecting these bastards to be applauded onto the park? I'd assume not, but it would be nice to know in advance as it'll be an extra pint and a late arrival if it's a goer.
-
Not at all, we've been woeful in a lot of those matches. However, my point is that simply blaming McCall's comments in the media during the week before an Old Firm game seems pretty ridiculous to me. If those comments genuinely do have an effect - and I don't for a second believe they do - then it shows that a lot of our players are earning a very good wage playing for our club despite not actually having the required mentality to play at this level, and says far, far more about them than it does about Stuart McCall. Terry Butcher used to get pelters for his 'punching above our weight' chat and talking us down and yet was in charge of the Motherwell side that last beat Rangers in the same season we also did Celtic. Why? Because the players had the mentality, despite being young, to go out there believing they could do the business. If this current crop of players don't then that's an issue with them, not their manager.

No, results would suggest that the Old Firm are better than us. And given Allan McGregor picked up Man of the Match for Rangers in a game they needed a shite injury time winner to snatch, I don't agree that all performances suggest that McCall's public words have a particular impact on these games. If a manager answering questions in the media in a certain manner is enough to make well-paid professional football players shite themselves when they take the field against particular teams, then it is entirely down to their extremely poor mentality IMO, especially when - I assume - everyone would agree it's not what he's telling them every day in training and in the dressing room before matches. It suggests that just as much as it suggests we just can't defend throw ins properly. And even if you're correct - that's simply a sign of poor mentality on the part of the player(s), regardless of what the manager told Chic Young four days previous.
-
Only if the same comments are made in the dressing room.

I'm torn between or a as I simply don't know how seriously to take Dazzer's posts anymore.
-
Loud cries of 'HANDBALL' every time the ball's touched for the opening 5-10 minutes shall suffice.
-
I don't think anyone is shocked or surprised. Before replying to this point I'd rather you elaborated on how the two scenarios are comparable. "I'm a better fan than you".
-
Just for the record, I personally couldn't give a fuck about Leeds, just like I couldn't care less about similar scenarios in any other foreign football league in the world. The Airdrie United / Clydebank scenario was a poor chapter in Scottish league history, however as Clydebank were bought over, the club was there's to do what they wanted with it. This was the Plan B - a newly formed Airdrie United were not admitted into the Scottish Football League despite applying. I would still attend Scottish and League Cup games because I wouldn't be able to tear myself away from Motherwell completely. However, I would not be back at an SPL game, because all sense of interest, excitement and competativeness would be loss IMO. This isn't a threat or being melodramatic, I simply would feel I had far better things to do than go to corrupt SPL matches, in a league where years/decades of cheating went unpunished. I would also be scrapping my Well Society membership for obvious reasons. I should, however, point out that I would reconsider my position should the opportunitity be used to make dramatic changes to our game which even up the playing field dramatically in exchange for Rangers being readmitted to the SPL - something that I don't believe can be said about the current proposals. I think that about covers it.

As I said when I first started the poll, I was genuinely expecting the majority to suggest they'd stick with the SPL. Like me, however, the majority (on here at least) have confirmed they'd pack it in. I've noticed similar polls on other club forums, Aberdeen springs to mind for example, where the results are pretty much exactly the same. There's also a poll on Pie and Bovril which, again, shows similar results. Also spotted this post on P&B from an SPL Survey site which, once again, highlights this issue with bigger numbers than we're working with: I guess the main point is that those that run MFC could easily dismiss this thread as a vocal minority of Motherwell fans who happen to be on Steelmen Online, and claim it has no real substance to it. However, the figures above clearly prove that a mass walk out from non-OF fans in the SPL is not only possible but probable, should a newco be voted into the SPL.

Must admit, I'm beginning to regret paying my membership in the one go now...
-
I can't believe there are still people who believe that Sky Sports, who have a TV deal in place to show Cliftonville against Donegal Celtic, wouldn't bother with any TV deal to show the likes of the Edinburgh Derby simply because Rangers were no longer in the SPL.
-
He's pretty much had a stinker since he signed a long term deal. Another case of Kevin McBride Syndrome.
-
It wasn't in response to your post.
-
So just to clarify - after losing to Rangers and apparently being on the verge of throwing away Champions League football as, according to Steelmen Online, we were in the midst of falling apart and gifting 3rd to Dundee Utd or St Johnstone, we're now going into today's game only needing a win to all but secure 3rd? This place is fucking bi-polar.

I reckon he looks more like a pterodactyl.

3-1 Motherwell. Higdon, Ojamaa and Hateley for us. Wee repulsive looking freakshow Griffiths for them.
-
If we were to put on a guard of honour for Celtic, I'd hope the club told us beforehand so I could stay in Daniels for a bit longer.

Not me big chap, I deliberately don't sing while I'm taking a video for similar reasons!

Great news. Very impressed by the total. I had no doubt the £250,000 target would be reached but I thought it would be a lot closer than that. To have exceeded the target by over £85,000 is fantastic and hopefully the membership total continues to grow.

Perfectly happy with Clancy in the team and perfectly happy sitting five points clear in 3rd one game before the split. If, before the end of the season, I visit the planet some of the folk on here (and Pie & Bovril) seem to inhabit, I'll update this post.

I don't imagine it would be that great a fright in all honesty.

The problem with Daley is that he has absolutely no defensive awareness about him whatsoever. The game at Tynecastle earlier in the season for instance - Hateley had his worst game for Motherwell and there are no excuses for that, but Daley being absolutely no where near him during every Hearts attack hardly helped matters. Rangers are still a good side when they can play their starting eleven, and Daley's complete lack of either defensive ability or interest means that it would be a very risky move to play him on either flank.
