Personally I thought Sheridan was pretty poor and largely forgettable, Celtic player or not.

I believe our plans are the 12.16 from Motherwell, change at Partick and get to Dumbarton about half 1. The stop at Partick is only 5 mins which is a tad disappointing as I'd hoped for a pint in the Three Judges. But for £6.70 return I'll dry my eyes! Anyone know what station - East or Central - is better to get off at or are they pretty close?

I'm heading through. The prospect of the first away day of the new season with a cheap train and a cheap gate price mean it was a pretty easy decision to make! 12.16pm train from Motherwell I believe was the one identified as the goer. I'll head to Craggs' testimonial in the week, but I couldn't care less about the Leeds game and I'll be missing the first game of the season as I'll be at Wickerman, so looking forward to Saturday!

I personally can't wait to see waspish winger Steven Lawless in the coming season.
-
Agreed. If Goodwillie is going to cost some mob £2m we should be looking for around the £1.25m mark I reckon.

Nonsense. Worth at least a tenner.

I don't think anyone's moaning about who's coming to Fir Park to play, they're merely saying they're not going. 9/10 for Taff's post on what makes a true 'Well fan though, gave me a right good chuckle after a hard day at work.
-
I don't think anyone's particularly arguing one way or another, mainly because I don't think anyone on here actually cares. Whether Leeds are a massive club or not is irrelevant to whether they are actually an attraction for Scottish football fans, in this case 'Well fans. By the looks of this thread, there are a fair number of us who don't see it as a draw or a team we're particularly interested in seeing at Fir Park. Big club or not, as a side outside the Premiership, Leeds don't have the pull up here given the majority of Scots' interest in English football extends to Match of the Day and Super Sunday. McCormack and Snodgrass are the only two Leeds players I can name, and that's only because they're Scottish. How many Leeds fans will be travelling up to Fir Park doesn't change that.
-
I'd agree with that. I've even found myself bored out of my mind at friendlies against the likes of Everton and Aston Villa, never mind English clubs from outwith the Premiership like Leeds, Preston and whoever else we've played over the years. Each to their own and all that, but I made the decision a year or so ago that I wouldn't be anywhere near any home friendlies, and would only consider any away friendlies that presented a good day out.
-
I personally went with Celtic as I just don't think McCoist will cut it as a gaffer. Lennon's not the greatest but he's brought in some very good players for the standard of the SPL (eg. Hooper, Commons etc), I just don't think McCoist is manager material.

1. Celtic 2. Rangers 3. Hearts 4. Hibernian 5. Dundee United 6. Motherwell 7. Inverness CT 8. Aberdeen 9. St Johnstone 10. Kilmarnock 11. Dunfermline 12. St Mirren

I think you made that up. I've seen a few folk comment, myself included, how it's a meaningless friendly which doesn't interest them and therefore they won't be there. Where you've gotten claims that going to Motherwell games is a hugely difficult task is a mystery. Although it no doubt actually is for some people.
-
A bigger draw for who? Motherwell fans? Everton with McFadden in their team were a far bigger draw than Leeds United. If anyone thinks throngs of 'Well fans are going to flock to Fir Park to see Leeds in a meaningless friendly match, they're at it. There'll be about 2,500 - 3,000 Motherwell fans there.
-
There won't be a decent crowd, because it's a friendly. A wee bit of advertising in the papers doesn't change that fact, it's a meaningless pre-season friendly that most folk couldn't give a toss about - myself included. It's Leeds we're talking about, not Barcelona. Having more away fans than home fans at Fir Park for a friendly means absolutely fuck all and isn't remotely embarrassing. I very much doubt I'll be anywhere near Fir Park for any home friendlies. The away friendlies will be judged based on a "good day out" scale.

Motherwell don't turn up in the final - there's something new!

I know, I agree. My post wasn't in reply to yours, it was posted at the same time.

Top six in the SPL, Scottish Cup runners-up, semi-final of the League Cup, and now into the Masters final! Glory years!
-
I had a look at the odds on SkyBet before it started and the Old Firm and Sunderland were all short odds. They were probably worried that if they put Rangers and Celtic in seperate groups they'd run the risk of Sunderland winning one of the groups, and the whole event passing without an Old Firm game. By putting both sides of the scum in the same group, they get an Old Firm game guaranteed.

Rickoza'll be hitting 6,000 posts by the end of the Masters today! Mon the 'Well!
-
Aye, we're all Northerners now. Of course, with an English side in there the organisers can no longer fix it to try and make sure it's an Old Firm final - like they so obviously did in the past.
-
Oh aye, I agree, I'm not keen on him whatsoever. But having Stevie Hammell is not the sole reason to not have options for the left-back position IMO. Last year we had Maurice Ross and Gavin Gunning able to cover Hammell in case of suspension or injury, now we don't.
-
In what way does having only one recognised first team left-back mean that he isn't needed?
-
Absolutely bollocks football player. How he got a contract after being the worst player on the park during the trialist match by far is beyond me.
