I wouldn't worry, I've actually come to my senses regarding the police - already e-mailed them last week and told them that I don't want to continue the recruitment process. I'm going to Uni instead, so I can continue being skint and pished without repercussions.

I actually took the "flabby midriff of Scottish football" comment to suggest that Scottish football as a whole, as we all know, is in terrible shape. Anyone with a flabby midriff is generally unfit and unhealthy as a whole - and that's exactly what I took from that comment. Granted, it's not nice to have Motherwell associated with it, but it's not something I thinks even worth commenting on in the context of the article. As for Brown's opinions - so a journalist has taken comments by someone and used them out of context - I hope we're not now going to have threads on here every time that happens, because the forums would end up crashing. I don't really see what points collected since the foundation of the SPL has to do with anything. Dundee United have been challenging for Europe the last few years and probably will do the next few years, and go into every season with the expectations and the resources to do so. We, on the other hand, go into every season wondering whether we'll have a good season with a push for a European place or end up battling relegation. That's the difference and exactly why, in the context of the article, I would assume teams like United aren't listed as clubs who would especially benefit from league expansion at this particular moment in time. Yes, you've said. I fail to see why that's remotely relevant though, given he explains exactly what he means by it. If he's just said "yo-yo clubs" then you'd have a point, but the description of what he means in the article is there for everyone to read. Anyway, are folk now not allowed to use words or phrases "wrongly", even when it's blatantly obvious what they mean? There are plenty of threads on here with folk being called "c***s" but I haven't noticed anyone taking issue with the fact the word has been "wrongly". I still find it quite amusing that folk are raging about this article. I don't read a lot of Graham Spiers stuff but what I have read I haven't had a problem with (including this), and that includes a lot of the anti-bigotry stuff trafficlight has mentioned. To me, this just seems like another example of folk purposely looking for something to moan about and be offended by.

I wouldn't say Hibs, Hearts or Dundee Utd would be in the group though as, apart from the odd season, they spend most of the time challenging for Europe and are therefore rightly not included in his list. Whether they have had a particularly bad season one year in the past doesn't remotely mean they would fit into his "yo-yo club" category in the context of this article. But if you even want to include those clubs, he does say "and the rest" so it's blatantly obvious he hasn't listed all the clubs he feels fit into that category. So basically, folk are moaning because Graham Spiers has used Motherwell as one of a few examples of clubs that spend most of their time alternating between having half decent seasons without really setting the heather alight and staving off relegation, and would therefore, in his opinion, benefit from a league expansion? Is that genuinely why people are moaning? Seriously!?

Got to admit, I wouldn't have thought twice about his comments if I hadn't seen this thread - don't really understand the problem. I think his point is justified. And he clearly explains in the article that by yo-yo teams he means those that "either spend their time worrying about SPL survival, or bleating that they can’t quite make it". I think that pretty much covers us - if we're not looking below us and trying to make sure we're not going down, we're having a decent season but feeling hard done by because we don't have the resources to go much further. Pretty apt description IMO.

I don't seriously rate any footballer on earth at more than about £100k at the very most. Considering what the average supporter earns in wages in a year, even £1m for a football player is ridiculous. So, with that in mind, about £8,000.
-
Exactly. McGeady is overated, especially when Celtic try and claim he's worth £10m+, but if you're basing player valuations on what English clubs pay, then I'd say McGeady is worth about £5m.
-
In England, £2.5m is pocket change for most clubs though. Just because our clubs are all skint and can't spend anything, doesn't actually mean some SPL players aren't worth a few million pounds compared to other footballers elsewhere in the world.

Jennings is an absolutely outstanding player. Get him signed up ASAP.

A good performance, all three points, and an end to the chronic FHW patter would be ideal.

Thank fucking Christ I didnae go to this.

It seems the atmosphere inside the new St Mirren Stadium is as electrifying as ever.

Indeed. Dunno where the back three chat is coming from. Seems pretty obvious to me it'll be a 4-5-1... Ruddy Saunders -- Reynolds --- Craigan --- Hammell Humphrey --- Hateley --- Jennings --- Coke --- Forbes Sutton Not what I would have went with, but then I'm not the Motherwell manager with decades of experience and two Manager of the Months awards in a row!

He must be so proud.

Jim Gannon is a c**t and Craig Brown is a hero. That's pretty much my take on how they compare.

I can't see where there's any friction on this thread regarding not being allowed bottles into the ground. It's the complete farce outside the turnstyles on Saturday that people are obviously discussing.
-
Jenno for me too. Absolutely fantastic player.

Rooney's been trapped in Craggo's back pocket ever since September '05.

If only that fucking stupid Doppelganger Week thing on Facebook was now. Although personally I reckon Gregor Stevens in that picture would be the result if me and Jonny Kerr had a lovechild.

Even if it still is supposed to be season ticket holders only, everybody just walks in regardless so you won't have any problems whatsoever. Unless someone from the club reads this and starts making the old boy check for tickets!
-
I think you're supposed to have a season ticket (or at least I'm sure it used to be) but the old boy at the door never checks.

Craig Brown is a God.

I missed the game today as I had police entry tests (aye, I know, I know!) in EK at 1pm. Just in, banged on the commentary, Murphy scores! Get fucking in there!
