Jutkiewicz - thought he was quality today and thoroughly deserved his goals.

Glad I made the trip to Paisley today! Not read the other posts yet, but I'd assume most will say that we were dreadful in the first half. Hateley was terrible IMO, Murphy kept wandering inside, and the defence was absolutely horrendous. Fair play to Gannon though, he changed things around at half-time and we looked a lot stronger in the second half, albeit still pretty poor. Fair play to big Lucas. I posted on here slating him and offering to pay for his journey back to Everton, but I'll happily hold my hands up tonight - I thought he was great today. Won plenty of headers, looked comfortable with the ball at his feet, and obviously netted two goals - but the biggest thing I noticed today was his movement. For a young striker, his movement is absolutely outstanding - he dragged the St Mirren defence all over the place and was constantly making himself available for through balls from the midfield. He seems to be playing with a lot more confidence now, and long may it continue. Oh, and I can't wait to see the "foul" on O'Brien again because it never, ever looked like a penalty!

I woke up wearing jeans that had £20 in the pocket, so I've taken it as a sign that I'm meant to go to the game today.

"Motherwell" shouldn't be allowed to be used in the same sentence as "best fans". For what it's worth, the "best fans in the land" are folk who travel all over the country supporting mobs like Elgin City and Montrose.

And not to mention James Morrison who is by far the best option on the right IMO. As for the whole Humphrey thing, if we're going to be playing a few more friendlies before the next campaign then it's about time we started being ruthless when it comes to taking advantage of players who are eligible for more than one country. Instead of calling up guys like Craig Conway and Lee Miller, we should be calling up lads like Ikechi Anya, Kevin Kerr, Brad Inman, and giving them a cap for the last 5 minutes just on the off chance they turn good. If they never play for Scotland again then there's no real harm done. Similiarly, if Humphrey genuinely begins to show potential that he could be a class act in a couple of years - cap him for the last 5 minutes of a friendly, and that's him a Scotland player for the rest of his career. If he turns out gash, never cap him again. Sorted.

Can vaguely remember the game, though the main memory for me is being in Dixon's or Curry's the next day and the BBC highlights show every goal was broadcast on about 25 teles! Cannae believe I was 13 when that game happened, didn't realise it was as long as 10 years ago!

Based on what we've seen of him, I'd be very surprised if he's been near the Everton bench for any league ties, although I do remember reading something about him making a sub appearance in a Europa League tie (I assume against some diddy mob).

Scotland v Japan is a week today. The 14th of November is currently free, both at club and international level, but there's talk of a Wales v Scotland friendly so, if that doesn't go ahead, I'd expect an international friendly of some sort. And aye, the dates of the playoffs are the 14th & 17th of November, not that it means anything to us!

Oh aye, don't get me wrong - he's useless. But the fact someone paid £1,000,000 for him just makes his uselessness stand out even more. And the uselessness of the Everton scouting system as well obviously!

To be honest, the worst thing that could possibly have happened to Jutkiewicz was probably costing a team £1,000,000. If he'd come to us on loan from Everton as a decent young player who may or may not make the grade (like plenty of loan deals) then he probably wouldn't seem as bad as he does. But unfortunately, he's joined us as a £1,000,000 striker so immediately there are big expectations (keep in mind money isn't thrown about in the SPL like it is down south and a club like Motherwell will probably never pay a seven figure sum for a player).

Ruddy's quality and I'd be delighted if we managed to get a hold of him permanently, or even just extend his loan spell. You can have Jutkiewicz back right now, I'll pay for his Megabus down. Though to be fair to the big guy, he scored the winner yesterday so we'll see how a wee confidence boost like that will help him.

Football supports are full of folk who don't actually have any idea about football.
