  2. So, basically the answer to the original question is simply "no"?

Sad news, never an age to die at. R.I.P.
  4. Over the past season or two I've put a score on Kris Boyd as Anytime Scorer, against sides like Kilmarnock & Falkirk, at evens a few times and doubled my money every time. If Kevin Kyle is similiar odds on Saturday, I could see a hefty sum going on him!

    European Referees

Christ, I built up the courage to watch the highlights of that game for the first time about a month or two ago and I still can't believe the "foul" he gave against Hutton. At the time in Hampden it never looked like a free kick, but fucking hell!
  6. St. Johnstone 0 - 5 Motherwell (Forbes, Slane, Sutton x2, Murphy).
  7. Highlights sum up the game pretty well - we dominate the game, create plenty of chances, but they score three and we only get the one! Stonewall penalty for them IMO. O'Brien showed his lack of defensive experience by trying to get back into position without thinking about the attacker going across him. A natural right back would probably not have given away that penalty. Cracking strike by wee Forbes, and what a goal for Stancu - no keeper on earth was saving that.
  8. Although I voted for Sutton, Forbes deserves a lot of credit - not only for tonight's performance on it's own, but for going into the game tonight against a top class European side, against whom he'd given away a penalty and been hooked off in the first half just a week before, and give that sort of performance is fantastic. The biggest plus point in having Forbes this season is the fact that he has a fantastic left foot and isn't afraid to have a go. How many times did we prance about with the ball on the edge of the opponent's box last season, afraid to actually dig the thing? Forbes will score a few crackers this season!

    European Referees

By opposite opinions do you mean that non-British fans view "shoulder challenges" as fouls? That doesn't surprise me, if that's what you're saying, as they must be used to seeing free-kicks being given for nothing tackles. It's obvious from watching how European players hit the ground as soon as they're touched, and how fouls are given in Europe that would never be given in the SPL, that letting a player know he's "in a game" is a big no-no outwith UK football. Someone should tell the rest of Europe that football is supposed to be a contact sport!

    European Referees

My point is though that we give Scottish referees a hard time and act as though they are below the standard of refereeing in the rest of Europe which, based on our European exploits this season, is utter nonsense. The referee in Albania was utter garbage, the referee in Romania was poor, and the referee tonight was an absolute joke. So 50% of the referees we've had in our European run have been shite! At least in the SPL, shoulder challenging isn't a foul! The day that Scottish football adopts the same sort of refereeing as in Europe (ie. the slightest touch results in a free kick) is the day that I give up club football altogether.
  11. I think Scottish referees are fucking shite just as much as the next man, but is it just me who's actually beginning to think they're not quite as shite as some of the dross that seems to be refereeing in Europe!?
  12. Very happy with tonight. Scoreline was a bit disappointing - I think we deserved at least a draw, but the performance against a top side was fantastic. Let the clowns over on Pie & Bovril tell themselves that we'll struggle this season, but tonight just confirms that we'll have no problems. We still need a right back, and a centre half & striker would be nice, but we'll be a mid-table side next season at least IMO. I'm really excited at the prospect of a Coke & Forbes midfield duo next season, and with Slane looking top class and big Sutton on top form - we can fly into the new football year after a cracking pre-season and with some memorable moments behind us. Bring it on.
  13. Ross Forbes & Giles Coke were tremendous and could be a fantastic midfield pairing next season, but John Sutton was simply fantastic.
  14. Dunno if it's because of Norway next week or the fact we lost the first leg 3-0 (probably a mixture of the two) but I just can't get up for the game tonight at all. I keep forgetting there's even a game on tonight! Hopefully a nice early goal for the 'Well will get the pulse racing!
  15. Ah right, well that'll be him number one target of the boo boys come the end of the season then. A lot of folk in the East Stand obviously don't actually know much about football - the midfielders who do the "dirty work" in 'Well teams are also usually berated by wankers in the stand.

Aye, I heard the same thing at the Flamurtari game.

  18. It all hinges on an early goal for us. If we can go 1-0 up within the first 20 minutes, then we have a slight chance. The atmosphere will shite on Thursday, unless we get an early goal. Suddenly, we're in with a glimmer of hope - the supporters will respond to that, and hopefully the players will too. Nick a 2nd before half-time, and the 2nd half could be epic. All hinges on the early goal though! It's still not impossible, but we need to play brilliantly, hope Steaua are honking, and have a fair amount of good luck on our side. We also need to take any chances that come our way. But let's be completely honest, if we go through to the next round it'll be after one of the greatest European performances in Scottish football history! As for an actual prediction, I'm going 2-0 to Steaua!
  19. Shaun Fagan's bum-fluff effort deserves a mention!
