Ach, I love the rumour mill when it's the Old Firm involved - it's hilarious most of the time! David Moyes is a shoe-in for the job, and no doubt Bojan will be his first signing!

Didn't Bilic turn down a Premiership club to stay at Croatia, or did I make that up!? Although I can see why he'd be on the Celtic radar... "Thought to be a common practising Catholic, he has been seen many times proclaiming his love for his religion, thanking it for his success. He is known to often carry a medallion of Pope John Paul II, which he accidentally dropped during a celebration and re-showed respect for by kissing it three times before pocketing it again."

Are folk seriously beginning to worry about something they've read on Pie & Bovril?!
-
There's more to it than that though. That said, even then there's no way I can see St Mirren pipping us to it. Footballing wise, St Mirren have been mediocre - we've not been much better really, but St Mirren certainly haven't been any better than us. And from a crowd point of view, there's undoubtedly more atmosphere inside Fir Park than the new Love Street - the fact that the only song they bothered singing during our 3-1 win was "You don't know what you're doing" late in the 2nd half despite it being a vital match for them shows that. And there's been no misbehaviour on our part that would count against us. Nah, I'd take anything you read on P&B with a pinch of salt - especially from that Captain Sensible character. I still fully expect us to be in the Europa League next season.

I don't have any idea about budgets and the like, but I don't believe for a second that Aberdeen would have been beaten by St. Johnstone to two Livingston players due to finances.
-
I'd definitely take Mihadjuks, Imrie & Morais, and (as over-rated as I think he was) I wouldn't complain if Foran came back as he's still a half decent player to have in the squad.

Just wanted to say a big well done to the stewards today. During the first half I was disgusted to see the Kilmarnock fans throwing about an inflatable crocodile. It was truly shocking, at one point I even thought the Killie fans were on the verge of enjoying themselves. So obviously I was thrilled to see the stewards taking action so quickly, and removing said evil inflatable nonsense from those horrible Kilmarnock fans. Just thought I'd praise the stewards for a job well done, there is no room for enjoyment inside Fir Park and we should remember how lucky we are to have such good people stewarding our ground on matchdays. c***s.

Did anyone notice that about three minutes into the Inverness CT game, literally hours after the club had appealed on the official site for good behaviour and "respect shown to the opposition" from the 'Well fans, there were songs and chants about Ross Tokely beating his wife? Don't get me wrong, I love an amusing song about big Tokely being a wife beater myself - but fuck me, we don't half have some right idiots in our support. Anyway, basically the message is thus - if ye see anyone heading down to the front of the East Stand in the last few minutes of the Killie game as though they're going to run onto the park, knock fuck out of them.

I'd go with 30 league games, and perhaps the old style league cup with group stages at the start of the season to increase the game total. But that's something for Henry "I played a few games for East Fife in the 60s so I'm qualified to completely revamp Scottish football" McLeish to think about.
-
I'd agree with that. So we might finish with more points than Hibernian & Aberdeen because we're playing games against the dross of the SPL, rather than sides challenging for the Europa League & the title - what difference does it make!? I don't quite see why it's a farce! Slightly bemusing perhaps to someone who doesn't understand the split, but for Scottish football fans who know the setup I don't understand why it's a problem. I'd rather have a 16 team league without a split, but I don't actually have a problem with the split itself - as Pie said, up until just a few weeks ago everyone was playing for something.
-
Given St Johnstone are now able to sign players out of our price range, I can't for the life of me understand why big Stretch hasn't been offered a new deal. For two years we've needed a centre half and no one seems to have come close to McGhee's strict requirements. We surely can't afford to then just let a perfectly good centre back leave on a free, injuries or not!? When I read in the papers a few weeks back about McLean being desperate to stay at Motherwell and hoping to impress enough to get a new deal, I just assumed it was a matter of time before he was signed up. I can't quite believe we've still not bothered offering him a new contract yet.

Say what ye want about Wikipedia, but it's quality when it comes to the currently runners-up in the World Cup qualifying and who we'll get in the Europa League first qualifying round... UEFA_Europa_League_2009%E2%80%9310#First_qualifying_round Assuming that is an accurate list, I think my preferred opponent would be Lisburn Distillery. A wee Northern Irish team for a wee jaunt across on the ferry would be good, but I'd prefer to avoid Linfield. Or a wee drive down to Wales would be nice. With Oslo and the World Cup playoffs (keep the faith!) coming up I can't afford either the holidays or the money for jaunts back to the Faroes or Macedonia, so from a purely personal point of view I'll be keeping the fingers crossed we get the Welsh or Northern Irish mobs. This is obviously assuming we actually get into Europe!
-
I'd agree with that. As much as it would have been nicer to finish 3rd again and set up another tie with another Nancy, Europe is still Europe and even if it is just a brief appearance - it's much better than a run of the mill pre-season friendly. And as much as anyone feels indifferent to it just now, come European tie day I'm sure we'd all be up for it. That said, I'm quietly hoping for a completely unglamorous tie against a side from Wales, Northern Irish or the Republic so I can go! Just out of interest, if we did well and progressed - what's the round we would be in after the Scotland game in Oslo? If we fail to win in Norway then the playoffs start to look unlikely, a wee jaunt with the 'Well could be in the pipeline if we're still in the Europa.
-
My da usually gets the one letter. It's not a big issue as I know what's going via the official site or on here anyway, but it would be nice to get my own letter all the same!
-
I never get letters from the club regarding season tickets or anything else for that matter. Gonnae have a look 'Flow and make sure I do actually exist!?
-
Oh aye, I agree with you on the subject of booing. I was just adding a fourth reason why some people are indifferent to him. I'm sure if he comes over to the East Stand at a throw in or something, he'll get a wee applause and he'll most likely appreciate it - that's perfectly fine by me. Will be interesting to see how he fits in the ICT line-up anyway, and I'm actually glad he won't get a hard time from the 'Well fans - as the more abuse an ex-player gets from the East Stand, the more likely he is to score against us!
-
Or (iv) some folk just thought he was a mediocre footballer who did a half-decent job when playing, but felt he was vastly over-rated and couldn't quite understand the hype.
-
The club should ask Butcher to go onto the field after the game tonight and applaud the 'Well fans. He'd get a great reception in return which could count as brownie points!
-
I'll give Butcher a warm reception, and will dish out a bit of abuse to Kerr. I'll probably be totally indifferent to Foran, as I still maintain he was horrendously over-rated - I don't see any reason to boo him, but I don't see any particular reason to cheer him either. But each to their own. Reckon we'll win this. Saturday showed that despite not having anything to play for other than avoiding bookings, we're still capable of tearing bottom six shite apart. Not too bothered about the line-up - whether we want to start giving the younger players a gig is entirely up to McGhee. Don't want to see Sheridan in a 'Well jersey again though for the rest of the season, unless there's a good chance of us actually signing him during the summer. If it's guaranteed he'll be heading back to Celtic, there's absolutely no reason to play him ahead of other players. 2-0 'Well - Clarky & Sutton on the scoresheet.
-
He came on late on in the Scotland B game last week and scored. Hard to pass too much of a judgement on him in such a short period of time, but he was fast as fuck and looked half decent. He must have something about him if he's First Division Player of the Year and getting trials with West Brom, given Stephen Dobbie was rattling them in all season.
-
Is there not talk on Pie & Bovril that the POTY award at this event was a fix!? Who's to say the Media Relations Award wasn't corrupt anaw!? Congratulations Spud!

Nice one lads, well in!

Known to enjoy his night-life and his appreciation of the opposite sex, he remarked: 'I would not sign for another club, not even if I was offered 15 million dollars. However, it would be different if they were to instead offer me 15 different women from all around the world. I would tell the club chairman: 'Please let me make these women happy - I will satisfy them like they have never been satisfied before'. Legend.
