When Lasley got injured we should have just moved Hammell into midfield and left our defence alone as it was ticking along nicely. As soon as we messed about with the defence it all went tits up.
-
Will be a very tight game. Get an early goal then keep it tight and for the last 20 minutes bring on Humphrey to run riot when they are chasing the game.
-
Aye can't really grumble about the signings at all. Jones has played his part and also got a goal when asked to play up front. Also at 34 still has pace and a few tricks. Good backup. Jeffers looks like a very good forward player who still has that wee burst of pace. Also makes space for him and other forward players. Good buy. Gunning was very good against Accies and he allows us to move Hammell into a left midfiled slot which is good. It may not be as many as McCall wanted to bring in, but it might just be enough to secure a top six spot. Also you could say that he has a new signing in Shuan Hutchison who has been excellent.

I am actually dreading the prospect of watching Billy Reid and his ultra negative tactics stifle yet another game. Guys like him should be shot for crimes against football. Two very important games coming up. If we get 6 points then the challenge for 4th is back on. if not then we will be scrapping it out to maintain our place in the top six.

To be honest though our pitch was a total disgrace and it was not all down to the weather.
-
Agree. I like it better on here when we win as people actually talk about football, tactics etc and not just spout pish that usually contains the words 'Sacked!' 'No fight!' 'Shite fitbaw' etc etc. Actually a Killie fan came on here and shut them all up by telling them our record over the last four years. Its excellent. Getting beaten 6-0 is a sore one, but I have seen enough from the team under McCall to see that there is something there. My main concern is not the Manager, but if we can keep Jennings on a longer contract. I also think all we need is a bit more squad depth and we will be up there challenging for third next season. But January is not the best time to do that. We can judge McCall in the transfer market during the Summer. Also you have to say that so far the players he has brought in have been pretty good. Canny grumble too much.

Aye "Yer number one fan"

"Can't see anything but a defeat and by fuck does that depress me to say that. Think that it's pretty much guaranteed that the shaggers will finish above us this season." This is what you posted three days ago. The words knee and jerk spring to mind.

Honestly. Seriously? By all accounts we ripped them to shreds last night. Thats down to football ability. Not one up man ship.

To be honest Diggle I think as Burn Broomfield mentioned earlier Forbes was given a role that suits his play. Too many times he has been stuck out on the left and he just doesn't have the pace to play that role. Doesn't excuse the abuse he gets though. Stick him in the middle and ask him to pass the ball and we then have a player. We all know that he is an amazing passer of the ball - its just about getting that out of him. I would play him against the Accies. Also well done Jeffers. I said that if he can get a few early goals in his Motherwell career then we might have found a real gem. Wait and see what happens, but sounds like he ran the Aberdeen defence ragged and remember it included some experienced SPL players like Smith, McNamee and Diamond. How did Gunning play?
-
Right here is the squad. 01 Randolph 05 Craigan 19 Hutchinson 20 Page (Forbes 52) 22 Gunning 06 Hateley 07 Humphrey 08 Jennings 14 Lasley 11 Sutton (Jeffers 74) 17 Jones (Murphy 69) Substitutes * 12 Hollis, * 21 Angelis Charalambous, * 32 Pollock, * 09 Murphy, * 18 Forbes, * 23 Casagolda, * 24 Jeffers From that team we know that Craigan and Lasley were carrying knocks. Gunning and Page have hardly played any SPL football between them. Then you look at the bench, out of all of them I would say Murphy is the only one who could make any sort of impact and he is totally off the boil. What am I saying? Our squad is far too small for the SPL. We have no cover at all when any player gets injured and as the season goes on we will get more of them. Its going to be a very tough end to the season for this lot.

So you have been locked out your house since the 4th of February? You must be baltic.
-
Sign Steve Jennings on a 3 year deal.
-
But you can't deny that our attendance at Fir Park this season has taken a nose dive since they have left. Quite dramatically.
-
The club is not in dire straits. Look over the road at Dundee and thank your lucky stars we are not in that mess. The problem with Motherwell and most SPL clubs is that success (a decent run in the league) makes a huge difference to the club. Our average attendance has dropped by 1000 since Brown and Knox left. This has meant really no money even with the sale of Reynolds to bring in players on a fee or on a decent wage. We were always going to have a transitional period when they left and unfortunatley its led to a pretty poor run in the league, but if you break it down. Since McCall has been here: We have faired very well in the cups with some decent performances. Steve Jones looks like a very decent signing. Our defence has held up quite well. A lot of clean sheets. The players seem to respect the manager Not always, but we have played some attractive passing football The problem has been scoring goals. Murphy has gone off the boil and Sutton is not a natural poacher so maybe Jeffers can fill that gap. He might score hee haw, but then again he might score 10 and pull us back into the top six. I am not too worried. For me the main priority for the club is to get Steve Jennings onto an exteded deal. He is the heartbeat of our team.

Rangers will miss Lee McCulloch. Think we might snatch a draw. Their confidence will be hit after Celtic controlled the game against them with 10 men. Jeffers to score!
-
How much do you reckon it would cost to get Rory McCallister from Brechin? Just asking!
-
So far Casagolda looks like the SPL is not his level. Jeffers had a stint at Rangers in the SPL and scored hee haw. Jeffers did have potential, but that was a decade ago. So the question is can McCall get something out of him. Not sure really.
-
Easy win. 4 or 5 nil I would think.
-
Total bombscare of a signing if it happened. Played for Rangers in the SPL and did the square root of fuck all.

All I know about this is from a backroom member of staff who has worked at Motherwell for years. They told me that Gannon was a total nightmare to work with. Thats all I have got, but he was basically a bit mental. Football wise he had the right ideas, signed some decent players and brought through the kids. On the other hand he probably drew a face on his hand, put a bag over his head, wanked off his dog and called himself Cedric. Who knows...
-
You could say that, but if this is true then its becoming a pretty common theme with Jim Gannon. Is he then worth the risk to a football club by coming in and upsetting the most important asset of a football club - the players? I'm not sure who is right and who is wrong, but if I owned a football club I would have major concerns employing the guy.
-
He is a total loose Gannon! Seriously though, why does he keep getting employed in football? He obviously has major man management problems. He will probably get fired and then some other club will take a punt on him with a total disregard for his employment history. Football clubs are their own worst enemies sometimes.

I love how everyone is humping and hawing about us not getting a striker. Does anyone not stop and think that maybe there were strikers out there, but were not as good as what we have? The transfer market isn't this endless pot of quality free players.
