Unfortunately I'm sticking by my prediction of a Hearts win here. Whenever Motherwell fans get cocky and over-confident and there is a record there to be broken(6th win on the trot) we end up losing, ie. Albion Rovers, Ibrox, any game against oldco Rangers when they were 'there for the taking', Aberdeen in the Cup QF two seasons back. Apart from that, as has already been pointed out, only Celtic have 'hammered' Hearts at Tynecastle this season and Hearts have beaten both Aberdeen and Hibs there and drew with Dundee Utd so quite where these predictions of 4, 5 or 6-0 victories come from is beyond me. We struggled to beat them at Fir Park in October so there is absolutely not a cat's chance in hell that we're going to go to Tynecastle and dish out a drubbing.

Stevenson is their best player by a mile, he's a real match winner. We tried to sign him last season before hearts pipped us to the post if I remember correctly.

I was hoping that we'd have maybe tried to get Twardzik back just now as part of the Cummins deal. With Hollis' injury still plaguing him it leaves us short on the keeper front unless of course we've got another target in mind.

It's funny, reading this thread and all the (over) confidence about how we're going to get a comfortable win and stick it to Hearts reminds me completely of the build up to Ibrox in September 2012. And we all know how that turned out...I fear a similar outcome here.

See I can understand why us not winning a major trophy for over 20 years and not having the history of winning silverware like Aberdeen, Dundee Utd or Hearts have would mean less recognition, however I'd still say that Partick Thistle get a much better level of coverage from the media than we do and when was the last time they won anything? They have also yo-yo'd up and down the leagues in the past two decades all while we've been a permanent fixture in the top flight. The same goes for St.Mirren IMO, albeit they won the league cup last year, but like thistle they've been in and out of the top flight and haven't been anywhere near Europe yet I'd still say they get a better deal from the media than we do.

Aye......confident Motherwell fans gives me the fear and given that we've been on a good run and they are in turmoil then it really would be in true Motherwell fashion if we screwed up and they turn us over next week. Like I said, we struggled to beat them at Fir Park earlier in the campaign and I think that this will be another struggle as the pressure and expectation will all be on us.

I refer you to where I said that although the majority did not overstep the mark and resort to personal abuse there were some who did. I acknowledged that some posts were wrong. As for the rest of what you say, especially the part about 'hating with a passion' people who celebrate a good performance one week then vilifying them the next, again I fail to see how that is different from any football supports worldwide and indeed I reckon even some guys who play or have played the game would accept that aswell. Obviously I'm not referring to folk who blindly abuse individuals after a bad performance, as again, that's unacceptable but most - and I emphasise the word MOST - folk on here tend to be able to evaluate the game without personal abuse and also are fairly consistent in their views too. I personally am not and never have been McCall's biggest fan as a manager and throughout the three years he's been here have never hidden that. He has his limitations and I believe he has failed to step up at crucial times, but I have given him credit where it's been due aswell. I've never came on one week and said 'Mccall's a useless cunt, get him out' then jumped on the 'we are all Stuart McCall' bandwagon and proclaimed him to be a great boss the following week. The manager and players of the club are not the supporters personal best friends and it's to be expected that different results will bring different reactions and differing levels of performances will bring different levels of criticism and praise and if you or others really cannot handle that then I think you're following the wrong sport.

Blind abuse of players or anyone connected at Motherwell FC is unacceptable. A lot of it is said in heat of the moment but that doesn't excuse it. However I said at the time, as Stu above mentioned that the majority of criticism on here in the aftermath of the Aberdeen Cup tie, the Dundee Utd thrashing was neither over the top or completely justified, it was perfectly natural from a set of supporters following a bad run of results. I re-iterate again, 'the majority' was not because there was a few who resorted to personal abuse. We as a support are no different to the vast majority of supports in the game, despite claims to the contrary by a certain poster in the Killie match thread from November. I've seen other fans forums, such as Ross County, Inverness, Hibs etc and their fans aren't exactly full of the joys after a bad result or run of results. Naming no names, but there are folk in here who appear to have some weird obsession with what other posters post and their reactions to results and it seems as though they can't wait to try and point score by picking petty arguments with them over virtually nothing, rather than discuss what is surely the most important thing, the result and performance of the team we all support. It's completely human nature apart from anything else that the majority are happy when we win and disappointed when we lose. Why that has to result in a 'I'm a better supporter than you' style lecture or or plain personal abuse - and that's what some of it is - from some is baffling and quite sad and it's no wonder that posters are put off using this forum when that's the way it goes when you merely voice an opinion that doesn't sit well with some.

And Albion Rovers were a part time club who were 2nd bottom of the lowest tier in Scotland, yer they still beat us. That just goes to show anything can happen and with Hearts home crowd behind and given we struggled to beat them at Fir Park then it is not in anyway ridiculous to suggest that they might beat us here.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm simply making a prediction on an Internet forum, it's that simple. Would anyone really be surprised if we were to lose to Hearts??? I might be right and I might be wrong, just like all of those who predict that we'll win will be either right or wrong. What will be will be, at the end of the day.

It's just a guess, nothing more, nothing less. What had Albion Rovers done in previous games to suggest they'd beat us?...but they did.

We are a poorly supported club, always have been, always will be. That's the sad reality of it I'm afraid. Even when we're performing well, like last season, the mid 90s and after we won the Cup in 91, our crowds have always been poor. We have 'fans' out there who only show up once in a blue moon, for Cup Finals etc but for one reason or another don't attend regularly.

This one's got draw written all over it IMO. 1-1 with us grabbing a late equaliser and being unlucky not to win.

It's no wind up, and in answer to your question, yes I would swap places with St.Mirren in that I'd take a League Cup win over qualifying for Europe any day of the week.

I'm not interested in watching another club win silverware, I want to see MOTHERWELL win silverware. Winning one of the cups is not necessarily the be all and end all, as if we were actually capable of challenging for the league title or were involved in the relegation dogfight then that would be hugely important to us. However this season neither was ever going to apply to us but the league cup was opening right out for us and we bottled it against Aberdeen and then lost in the Scottish Cup to Albion Rovers. Those were two major short comings in our season. I will continue to support Motherwell for as long as I and the club are still here and I do not expect to see us win anything ever again, but I hope we do. It's always a slim chance for us but there's always the chance nonetheless.

My feelings too. For me the season ended when we whimpered out of the Scottish Cup with the Albion Rovers debacle. We're not going to get relegated and we're not going to win the league and regardless of whether we finish 2nd, 6th or 9th we make losses regardless or so we're told. I couldn't care less about qualifying for Europe because as you say all that equates to for us is a two game bit of fluff at the start of the season against some no mark side, whom we can't even register a shot at goal against. I would much rather finish 6th or lower and be the winners of one of the domestic cups, like St.Mirren last season, Killie and Hearts the season before, because at the end of the day that is why I support Mofherwell...for excitement and in the faint hope that one day we will repeat 1991. I know for a fact that I am not alone in that too. Other clubs of similar stature have lifted silverware in recent years so that proves that it can be done and I want nothing more than to see us do likewise. I take nothing away from our 2nd placed finish last season and thoroughly enjoyed the football we played in the second half of the season and likewise this run we are on just now, but it's tinged with frustration that yet again we only click once out of the cups. Maybe next year...

Tremendous day and all credit to McCall and the players, not just for a brilliant result today but for this now incredible winning run we're on. When you consider how last month began it makes this turn in fortunes all the more amazing.

Heard that aswell, it was mentioned on FPC. Think they'll wait and see what it's like tomorrow but if we get any more torrential rain between now and then it could put the game in serious doubt.

I fancy us to get another win here. 2-1 to us in a tight match.

We beat Inverness 5-1 away last season.

Perhaps most poignantly, we've recorded a positive result on Phil's anniversary which is nice. Indeed, I think we're yet to lose on his anniversary match.
