Yeah that's pretty much the size of it. If only we could afford to do without them eh? Scottish Football would be a far better place.

It was literally men against boys. We were no match for them either in quality or physically. It was like when you were a wean and you were playing in a park against a bunch of boys who were three years older than you. You couldn't get the ball off them and whenever you got near them you were just brushed off with ease.

1-0 to us, Sutton the scorer.

The argument that we can't complain because our fans did similar at NDP last week doesn't hold up where Celtic fans are concerned. Every support has an unsavoury element in them and we are no different but Celtic are on a different scale altogether. The sheer number of them involved despite their claims that it's only a tiny minority for starters, then the amount of times they have done this kind of thing yet met with very little reprimand. Ask any Dundee fan, Rangers fan, Killie fan about this mob's previous for destroying seats and acting the cunt at away grounds. Ask Hearts fans or more so Hearts stewards and kiosk workers about Celtic fans rioting and raiding the kiosk there twice in the 2010/11 season, both of which were evening kick off matches which seem to bring the worst out in this shower of filth. They are repeat and persistent offenders and they are a dangerous animal which is out of control and they are ruining football with their baggage and antics. Last night was the worst away support I've ever seen in Motherwell, not just during the game but more so I'd say before and after it. Bus loads of them were going up Airbles Road just before 7 and they were banging the windows and screaming abuse out at passers bye whilst others of them were pushing in the street and acting the cunt. It was like watching a load of rabid, out of control rot weilers being let out of their cages for the evening. Celtic fans are the worst in Scotland because they are nothing but shit stirring bullies who fancy themselves as political activists and it's no wonder that we've got folk saying they won't attend another game involving this shower of vermin.

Of course, this season was always going to see us go backwards from where we ended last season. But that's not my concern with regards to McCall right now. He knew he would have had to rebuild the squad over the summer if he knocked back the Sheffield Utd job so it was always going to be a massive task for him. The players he's brought in, with the exception of McManus and Sutton to an extent, just haven't worked and I seriously have to question why he brought in both Lawson and Vigurs from Ross County. What was his plan for them? Where were they going to fit in? And what about McFadden and the money we are forking out with little in return? I believed at the time and still do that McCall put most of his eggs in the one basket with Faddy's signing in the hope that he'd stay fit and be the bit of flair in the team without scouting other options. Looking at the team now, half way through the season almost. We are disjointed, disheartened and have nothing about us. This is the team that McCall built and it is not working. He continues to make the same mistakes with his approach to bigger games but he no longer has Higdon or Randolph to bail him out anymore and it's showing. The football we have played this season has been uninspiring and as a team we look directionless. Our midfield consists of one player, Keith Lasley, whom I love to bits but he can't do it all himself, he's 34 years old afterall, and our defence has absolutely no protection and are shipping goals at an alarming rate. As I've said elsewhere, changing the manager has benefited us in the past because we've done it at the right time and I just don't see what else Stuart McCall can do for us. I don't expect him to win the League, or finish 2nd every season, or win the Cup, but we are going backwards under him now and unless we want to end up in Kilmarnock's position in the next year then I think we need a change.

Motherwell v Celtic at Fir Park has always been a nasty fixture in my experience, as their travelling support is filled with the lower form of scumbags who are hellbent on intimidating locals with their carry on before, during and after the match. A Friday night fixture was always going to be a recipe for disaster with these louts given the amount of alcohol they would have been able to consume in the hours leading up to the match. No doubt somebody will be on to tell us that Rangers fans were just as bad if not worse when they used to visit but the reality is that in recent times there has been far more bother at games involving Celtic than those involving Rangers and I too would be wary of taking kids to games against them for the hassle they cause. I remember a debate on the shoutbox last week about Celtic losing in the Champions League and the old chestnut about it being 'sectarian' to dislike them and wish them to lose etc. Well, if anyone needed any reminders as to why Celtic and their fans are disliked, look no further than last night. As you say, abusing innocent passers-by in the streets before the game, including women and kids, pissing in folks gardens, then throwing flares at their own goalkeeper and damaging multiple seats before repeating their pre-match disgusting behavior after the game. There is a large element in the Celtic support, particularly their away support who are utterly obnoxious arseholes who have no place in a football ground because they are more like political activists than football fans. Just look at the banners they fly, the songs they sing, campaigns they wage and intimidate and abuse anyone who is not 'one of them'. Furthermore, they are a dangerous animal because they are untouchable. The authorities won't do anything or say anything against them in fear of being labeled sectarian or racist, the police won't do anything because of their numbers and the media won't condemn them because they want to keep their jobs. And the Celtic support know all of this. I'm all for supporters creating atmosphere at games, but this mob bring another angle to it. A non-football angle, and that changes the game for me.

No, I mean he can't take us any further in that he's done as much as he can with us and can do no more. What's happened in the past is in the past and we are going backwards at an alarming rate of knots. You're being pedantic and deliberately missing the point for the sake of it.

I'll get back to you when I find where I said that his replacement should win the league. Or even hinted at it for that matter.
-
What would it prove? Well I'd respect him more for a start and I expect I'm not alone in that. I'm sick fed up hearing him trot out the same tired excuses and vows on the back of such poor displays as Friday night, ie. 'the opposition were tremendous but we'll learn our lessons'. You know, just something to show that our manager is at least aware of how bad the performances are in these games and really wants to do something to change them. Hearing him constantly spout the same drivel about how brilliant they were and how we'll learn our lessons is extremely tiresome, especially since we never do appear to learn any lessons from these games. Who would I have as a replacement? Well I said on here the other day that Paul Hartley would be a good choice as a replacement because he appears to be a forward thinking, up and coming young coach with his own ideas and that is something that I think would benefit us just now, to have a fresh approach brought to the table. Changing the manager doesn't always work for the better but its something that needs to be done at some point regardless of how well things are going and in our case right now I think it would benefit us to get a new and fresh approach because it is clear that McCall cannot and will not take us any further. His complete botch up of the summer rebuilding job coupled with his tactical ineptness and inability to motivate the team when it really matters all points to his time being up for me.
-
I'd like him to accept for once that he's got it wrong with the team selection and preparation and to stop trying to fob the support off with nonsense like "we'll be better next time", when we never are, and trying to make out that performances like last night were somehow excusable because "Celtic were brilliant" and "they didn't create any outstanding chances", the latter of which is complete bullshit because they could easily have scored 10.
-
Exactly. Not to mention Nielsen having to block from Izaguirre and Commons and Brown at point blank range and them missing a sitter from a header in the first half before they scored. Either McCall is a fucking moron or he thinks the entire support are fucking morons but if he seriously believes that quote then we've got problems.

And the scary thing is, you were pretty much spot on. He said... "We'll knuckle down and go up to Dingwall next week and hopefully put this to bed," "Celtic were terrific and there's no doubt about that," said the Motherwell boss. "But, coming up to five minutes before half time, for all the good play they've had, I don't think they've had any outstanding chances. "We were digging in and getting blocks. But they've got quality players and boys who can bring it out from the back. And they're playing with a lot of confidence. "The biggest disappointment was the second goal from a set-piece. If you get cut open, which Celtic did many times to us, then you've got to hold your hands up. But it was a bread and butter corner and we don't pick up. Ambrose scores and thereafter they just picked us off at will and showed what confident form they're in at the moment. "That's probably as strong a Celtic side they can be at the moment. They've got players playing at the top of their game. "No disrespect, but in the next couple of games we're not going to come up against Celtic. So it's down to us to knuckle down and prove we can be in the top three or four and that's what we'll aim to do. "We'll knuckle down and go up to Dingwall next week and hopefully put this to bed. Last week has gone and tonight was a difficult one to take. "But I think sometimes you've got to put your hands up and say we were up against a really good side. "There's things we can do better, there's no doubt about that. You don't want to get beat at home like that, but we've got three or four games coming up where we need to hit top form." These quotes courtesy of BBC Scotland.

They'll pick on the easiest targets, that's just the way it is. We saw that tonight when the police ran into the East Stand after some boys chased some fud with a Rangers scarf on yet stood turning a blind eye to the Celtic support. There was no way they'd have he balls to wade into them given their numbers and reputation for fending off police intervention.
-
The Well Bois. Constant support and singing throughout and an absolute credit to the club.
-
He fucking infuriates me with the pish he comes out with.
-
Aye a green smoke bomb. There's nothing that will or can be done about them though. The authorities, the police and even their own club are afraid of them. Why else would they get away with rioting with stewards at Tynecastle, openly supporting the IRA time and again and acting the complete cunt if that wasn't the case? The reality is that the Celtic support and in particular their 'Green Brigade' are a dangerous and poisonous animal who are a law unto themselves.
-
Their fans were waving at least two seats about in the air during the first half from what I could see. All while the police and stewards stood about with their fingers up their rectums.
-
Utter shite. Celtic strolled about at walking pace and could have scored as many as they wanted while we offered nothing. Even Hearts managed a shot on goal against them last week. McCall Out.
-
I hear it's due to snow later this evening. That brings back memories of the last time we played celtic at Fir Park in a snow storm, when we lost 7-1 in February 1999. Reckon were in for a similar drubbing tonight. The sooner this one is over the better.
-
As much as I'd love to see Coyle here it just isn't going to happen as he will demand a salary which we couldn't even begin to match. A Paul Hartley type would be a good forward thinking appointment for us just now as he appears to be a good up and coming young manager who would bring his own ideas and philosophies to the table. Yes we've had success via the English lower league market in recent years but who's to say a newer approach wouldn't benefit us? Hartley will have his 'contacts' aswell in the game.
-
Absolutely. The argument that changing the manager doesn't or won't help is a poor one and in our case our recent managerial changes fully back that up. We ditched Malpas after it was clear he could take us no further after a shocking end to the season and replaced him with McGhee. Two years later McGhee left after making it abundantly clear that he wanted to move on instead of sticking around and rebuild the squad so we brought in Gannon who did just that. After things started to 'happen' off the park with him we replaced him with Brown who steadied the ship...then a year later he moved on and in came McCall who, despite his faults, guided us to a cup final, a 3rd placed finish and then a 2nd placed finish. He knew he would have to rebuild the squad over the summer if he stayed with us and I'm afraid that the players he had brought in aren't good enough because we have an unbalanced midfield and zero pace and are thus an uninspiring side going nowhere and I believe that McCall has done as much as he can with us. In answer to the question of who should be brought in though, I say....Paul Hartley.
-
Yes I think sadly we're looking at a very low home support for this one, but who can blame any Well fan for staying away and not wanting to part company with time, effort and money to watch our sorry lot get their back doors caved in by Celtic? Add into the mix we've virtually nothing left to play for and we have a manager and squad which is both uninspiring and mediocre. The end of the season can't come quick enough to be honest.
-
Tremendous post and bang on the money.
-
This. We'll be lucky to get a shot on target on Friday night, there's not a prayer that we're scoring. A humiliating and painful evening is in prospect because let's face it, if a 'decent' Dundee United side can turn us over 4-0 at Fir Park then how many are Celtic capable of taking off us?. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they hit double figures.

It was more a dig at those who trot out this pathetic and nonsensical 'we ain't Barcelona' pish in response to any form of criticism of the team or the club whatsoever. It's a ridiculous comment because it's basically saying that we should just accept utter pish without question simply because we're not Barcelona or whoever. No doubt someone will try and claim that it doesn't mean that but.... it does. In the context of yesterday's game we didn't need to be Barcelona, we were playing a part time lower league club who are struggling at the bottom of their division, we just needed to be a bit professional and up for it and we'd have won. We were neither.
