  1. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Our conversion rate over the past few years is nothing short of disgraceful. Is it a lack of bottle or a lack of luck? Or maybe a combination but you cannot ignore our pathetic record from the spot in the last three to four years.
  2. No I never said that, I just offered a counter view to your's that some on here are giving Hateley more abuse for missing a penalty than they gave Murphy last week.
  3. Course I get your point, but you asked the question about why the difference in reactions between the reaction to Murphy's miss last week and Hateley's today and I answered your post. 'Well fans are deeply frustrated that we missed a gilted edged chance to get a result at Parkhead and they are venting their frustrations about it. Never mind last week, this thread is about today's game and no other.
  4. The difference is that last week we were already 4-1 up when Murphy missed so it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Today we got a penalty at Parkhead in the 76th minute when 0-0 against Celtic. We miss it, they run up the park and score the winner. Spot the difference.
  5. Well Full Time and a 1-0 defeat, but there is nothing positive to take from that. Again, AGAIN we get presented with a great chance to get a result against the 'Old Firm' and yet again we fail miserably to take that chance. I know it's easy to have a go at Hateley but let's face it, any other Motherwell player would have suffered the same fate today. It's just one of the joys of being a Motherwell fan, we just can't take a great chance when it's given to us on a shining silver platter.
  6. It is disgracefully bad. When we got the penalty today I barely even got excited because it was so predictable that we'd fuck it up. Just like O'Brien against Rangers at FP it was no surprise that we fucked up a great chance to do something against one of the Glasgow two.
  7. Far be it for me to defend Celtic but what do you expect when you listen to Celtic TV? Of course they're going to be biased towards their own side.
  8. So predictable. We really are shite at penalties.
  9. It's absolute nonsense to say that "old firm results don't matter". Of course they matter. As a professional football club with professional players it is in their remit to try to win every game that they play. Obviously there is a mis-match in terms of quality of players between us and Celtic but that mis-match exists between Celtic and Hibs, St.Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Dundee Utd, yet they have all fared considerably better against them in the past year and a half. Every time bar once that we have taken to the park against Celtic in the past couple of seasons and also against Rangers, we have been beaten before we cross the white line and have shown absolutely no belief whatsoever that we could beat them and it appears that we are too scared to have a go at them for fear of losing a goal, which we always end up doing regardless. Tomorrow will be no different, you can count on that. It's all well and good McCall and some fans saying that results against them don't matter as long as we do the business against the rest but it's not a choice between the two that we've got to make. The fact is we have at least three scheduled SPL matches against Celtic this season and they ALL matter.
  10. We'll get our back doors caved in.
  11. Sorry to see Murphy leave but it was always going to happen someday I suppose. He's been a great servant to the club and has given us many memories by scoring crucial goals in the 2009 Europa League and in the SPL and the Cups in following seasons. He's been a credit to himself and the club and I hope he does well down South. All the best Jamie
  12. It would be great and very fitting if we could have the entire support standing and applauding in the 10th minute. This would be my preferred choice. As for the game, I'd stick with the side that beat Aberdeen with the exception of Cummins in for Ramsden from the start. Think it'll be a draw, 1-1 with Murphy on the scoresheet again.
  13. Re: the Higdon challenge on Reynolds, there are some referees out there who would have flashed the red and indeed some opponents who would have rolled about as if near enough dead had they been on the receiving end of that challenge from Higdon. I think it is to both the referee's credit that he gave Higdon the benefit of the doubt and also to Reynolds' credit that he didn't make a meal of it and got right back up again. Being right in line with the challenge I honestly don't for one minute believe that there was any intended malice in it, more a case of a lazy, late challenge from Higdon which caught Reynolds. Higdon is not the type of player who would go out to intentially put that kind of tackle on an opponent and it was good to see Reynolds accept that and get on with the game.
  14. Absolutely and just shows how much we missed him in the Cup game. He is a key player in our squad and we are a far poorer side without him.
  15. Without question IMO Given our poor home form of late, the cup defeat against Aberdeen, the two last minute equalisers in the Pittodrie games this season and the whole history with Brown & us, to spank them 4-1 was something special and seeing their hoardes slithering away with 35 minutes remaining was sweet stuff.

    Ojamaa

No, but today's result combined with the 'Christmas cheer' has certainly helped.
  17. Today was only the second time since 1962 that we've scored more than three against Aberdeen in a competitive match. The last time was of course the 6-5 reversal in 1999 so today was a bit of a feat for us to score four and get the win.

    Ojamaa

I've been a big critic of his and I've even written him off (on this very thread too I believe) but he was superb today and completely proved me and his other doubters wrong. That boy has something about him, no question about it and today he proved that and then some. The only thing that was lacking was a goal, which he more than deserved to get. Quite simply when he plays like that he is a major weapon for us and Aberdeen could not handle him atall. As you say, take a bow son.
  19. I have to agree with that 100%. Superb day and incredible that the once mightly Aberdeen have now failed to beat us in the SPL for over FOUR YEARS. That must be some kind of record.
  20. In the first 15 minutes I had visions of a re-run of the Cup game but we managed to get into our stride and take the game by the scruff of the neck. When they got it back to 2-1 I was worried but the 3rd goal just before HT was the crucial one as it totally deflated them and you could see that from the way the 2nd half started. I've not left Fir Park feeling as satisfied for a long, long time.
  21. It's great to win any game 4-1 but to hand that two faced, babbling old c**t his wrinkly, withered old arse on a plate is fucking tremendous
  22. Tremendous result and performance and just shows what we can do if we really go for the throat. Ojamaa and Murphy were outstanding and Law & ZFA were excellent too. Great to give that mob and that weasel of a manager of theirs a sound seeing to. No doubt Broon will claim it was four fortunate breakaway goals in a match they won on bye kicks. Get it right up him and every single last one of their arrogant, deluded followers. Am I right also in saying that is the first time we've scored more than 3 against the Dons since the 6-5 also? Great day all round Merry Christmas Well fans, GIRUY Aberdeen, Brown & Knox.
  23. Aye, almost as fortunate as scoring from a corner which should never have been awarded in the first place when they beat us in the Cup a week before. Broon's at it.
  24. I fancy us to bounce back in style on Boxing Day and get some revenge for the Cup defeat by beating Aberdeen in the league, just as we did last season. I have a feeling they will play a more open game as they attempt to go for three points giving us the opportunity to exploit them at the back. Fancy us to give them a bit of a pumping and while we'll gift them a goal or two we'll do enough to send these Dandy bastards home with their tails between their legs, 4-2 Motherwell, Higdon double, Law & Ojamaa with the others...Merry Christmas Broon ya squeaky voiced old weasel
