Not at all sadly. We have been overrun and out played in the majority of games so far this season and we've been extremely fortunate to have only escaped from some games with 2-0 defeats. We are due a severe pasting and if Celtic really fancy it then they will take anything between 3 and 8 goals off us on Saturday.

8-0 Celtic.

Leitch with Andy Smith as assistant? That would be as bad as appointing Kenny Black in my opinion and would only go to cement my fear that the club have no plan or vision for the future. We need a drastically new approach at Fir Park, on and off the park.
-
That would be my biggest fear too should/when McCall move on that we simply give the job to Black. That would, IMO, be an absolutely awful appointment but sadly it would also be an absolutely Motherwell FC in today's climate appointment in that it would be cheap, easy and unimaginative.
-
I think that would be a decent move for McCall and might not be a bad thing for us either if he was to take this position, assuming this is accurate of course. I don't think he can do any more with us as I believe that this is as good as it will ever get for him as a manager and should he ever move on to a bigger job as the main man then he would struggle badly in my opinion. For us, well a change in approach might well benefit us more in the long run and we really could do with a manager with a bit more vision and an ability to blood some young talent and generally bring something fresh to the table.

We beat Dundee Utd 3-1 up at Tannadice in April 2013 on a Friday night with a superb display.

This thread/poll has just been discussed on 'Off the ball'...

His priority should be getting us organised and competitive on the park before anything else. Not that I believe that his being involved in the Scotland set up is a huge hindrance to us mind you, but still, his club, of which he has such a massive role at, should come before his job with thr national team.

Remember guys, We are all Stuart McCall But on a serious note, we are in big, big trouble here and the Ross County game in a fortnight is already a six pointer. I really don't see how McCall can get us out of this now as we are too slow, too rigid and key players like Lasley appear to have been asked to go to the well once too often and the manager doesn't appear to have any plans up his sleeve to improve things. I know people will point to last season but if we are honest we were very, very lucky to finish where we did as we rode our luck in several matches last season yet managed to scrape wins somehow despite being overrun and creating little. This season however we haven't been so fortunate and we need things to change drastically asap or we are looking at a threw way dogfight with Ross County and St.Mirren. I know its still early days but the signs are not good.

My feelings too sadly. Everything points to an Accies win in this one. The way we've been playing, their promising start, them being right up for this to get the better of us, our inability to match opponents hunger in games like these, the plastic pitch and our shocking cup record under McCall. This has defeat written all over it.
-
They'll pump us.
-
Hearts, Accies, Dundee or Falkirk would spank us on current form so we need to avoid them.
-
So would we all but it wouldn't happen I'm afraid. Motherwell do not beat teams called 'Rangers'.
-
They've still to play their 2nd Round tie v Inverness, who I would expect to beat them as as would the rest of the clubs in the top flight bar us, so hopefully that should spare us the depressingly predictable embarrassment of rolling over to Them again.....To be honest though after the debacles against Albion rovers and Stjarnan and the way we've been playing recently and with McCall's record in cup matches then there is not one side whom we could potentially draw that I'd be confident of us beating.
-
I agree with the majority of what you say there Wdmk1, but I really don't think you can call the reaction to our start to the season 'knicker wetting' or even knee jerk. The facts are this. We have played six competitive matches - two of which in Europe - and have one fortunate win and five goals to our credit, with four defeats and ten goals against. Add to that our squad appears to be drastically unfit and under prepared and there is very little in the way of encouraging signs for us to cling to. St.Mirren outplayed us two weeks ago during our solitary positive result so far and Inverness and now a poor Kilmarnock side have beaten us with ease and we can consider ourselves fortunate to escape from both games with only two goal defeats. Our manager also appears to be unable to adapt to losing a few players and seems to be struggling to motivate the players just now, that is something that has been alarmingly clear in almost every match we have played so far this season. I know its early days but the signs really aren't good for us.

Unless we see some drastic improvement...in tactics, attitude, fitness and defending then we're getting nothing but pumped in this one. 4-0 Saints
-
Don't give them the satisfaction mate, we've got more things to concern ourselves with than some internet bampots who are only interested in picking petty arguments online about nothing.
-
Is this not now our worst start to a season since 2006/2007 under Malpas? We simply have to pick up three points next week against St.Johnstone, apart from anything else to try and get some confidence back ahead of the International break. I have serious concerns for us, both on and off the pitch as we appear to be a sinking ship. Edit: yes this IS our worst start to a season since 2006 with 3 points from the first 12.
-
There's not a snowball's chance in hell we would beat 'Rangers' in any match never mind one as big as that. I reckon Hearts would pump us in a playoff too.

3-1 Killie.

Maybe you've answered your own question there. Woods is by all accounts a very good goalkeeping coach and has built up a strong reputation as such at Celtic. It's possible the managers here liked having him around to work with the youngsters coming through and that's perhaps another reason why he lasted so long at Fir Park. Just guesswork of course...
-
Well I don't know the ins and outs of what the powers that be's position on his contract or presence within the club was but what I do know is that Woods was never able to hold the number 1 jersey as his own during his time at the club and Alex McLeish, Harri Kampman, Billy Davies and Eric Black/Terry Butcher all brought in another keeper whilst managing the club and ALL of those keepers either completely ousted Woods from the first team or were given long runs in the side at his expense. And given the level of Woods' performances in that same time it wasn't difficult to understand why.
-
Agree, completely, with the above responses. Woods was an absolute catastrophe of a goalkeeper with us and I've said all along the only reason he survived as long as he did at FP was because he was never able to establish himself as a first choice goalkeeper and thus no one else wanted him. He was here for something like nine years and played second fiddle to FIVE different goalkeepers in that time and only ever regained his place once they'd moved on or were out injured. There was a very good reason for that and that reason was because he was garbage.
-
Precisely. There was none of this bitching like a bunch of old biddies about other folk's opinions just because it didn't sit well with them or folk giving smart arsed 'I'm a better supporter than you' lectures. You discussed the game and gave your opinion, often that sparked debate but that's what football does and one of the reasons I love it so much. Sadly the internet gives a platform to nuggets who would probably have been forever told to weisht down their local every time they opened their mouths to spout their self imporrant , boring drivel.
