Applaud them if you want, it's a personal choice I'd say. But guess what? They'll still call you a 'H u n without the busfare' and other such original insults so if you think that'll 'endear' you to them or earn you brownie points with 'yer sellic supporting mates' then dream on.

From our remaining games I think we'll get 5 points maximum. Whether that'll be enough to clinch 3rd depends on other results. I think we might, just might get a point against Celtic in the next game, but we'll lose at Tynecastle and Ibrox. Out of the two home games, I think we can get four points but it it will be extremely tough. It's too hard to make any serious prediction at this stage with five games still to go and it being as tight as it is though.
-
I don't think we'll do it because quite simply; a) We're on the slide, and; b) Dundee Utd & St.Johnstone are on the way up. We may get a result against Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday, but post split we will lose to Celtic, lose to Rangers, lose to Hearts and it will come down to the home games against Dundee Utd and St.Johnstone, from which I believe we will only get one point. We will finish 5th, if we're lucky.

His goal in the 4-2 win against Dundee in January 2002 was one of his best IMO. That was the one where he picked up the ball out wide, beat two or three defenders and curled it beautifully into the corner. That was the goal where he really showed his quality for the first time. He was superb that night. edit: His goal at Hampden against Rangers in the 2003 Scottish Cup Semi Final was another tremendous strike, both for the sheer quality of the goal itself and for the celebrations in the Motherwell end as a result of it. In the build up to that, Pearson was fouled in the box and everyone, players and fans alike shouted for a penalty but 'Faddy' just coolly curled it right into the top corner past Klos. An unbelieveable goal and moment.

Give them applause? I wouldn't give them a virus. I'll treat them with the contempt they deserve.

I'll crack the jokes, this current crop couldn't get a result against the 'Old Firm' if their lives depended on it. Anyway I want to avoid the whole scenario or potential scenario of THEM being able to win the league at Fir Park and having thousands of them in the home stands celebrating at our ground. Games against Celtic are bad enough but this would ensure a poisonous atmosphere and while 22/05/05 turned out brilliantly, I never want that prospect of them coming to Fir Park and winning the league again. Let's hope Kilmarnock don't pull off another shock against them on Saturday otherwise this nightmare scenario will become reality.
-
Well let's just hope that Celtic do the business against Kilmarnock this weekend and clinch the title, otherwise they'll be winning it at Fir Park. On Sunday the 22nd. If Celtic lose to Kilmarnock on Saturday, that is exactly what will happen.
-
And your point is...what exactly?

I've had serious doubts about him for a while, but yesterday was the last straw for me. His indiscipline when he needlessly clashed with Whittaker was ridiculous and his (non) contribution to their winning goal did him no favours whatsoever. His 'discipline' has already cost us this season when he was red carded against Celtic back in November and his positional sense on the whole, for a centre half, is dreadful, in my opinion.
-
Until yesterday the jury was decidedly out for me on Clancy, but after his disastrous display against Rangers the verdict is returned and is in completely in agreement with your assessment of him. He is awful.

We'll bounce back next week with a 2-0 win. We need to.
-
Aye that 3-3 is the last time we scored more than one goal against them in a game. The last time it happened before that was in April 2005 when they beat us 3-2 at Fir Park and before that it was the Scottish Cup Semi at Hampden nine years ago.
-
They've been thanking the away support for their attendance for a while now.

How does hating Celtic more than Rangers make someone a 'blue sympathiser'? Is it not possible that for one reason or another that some Motherwell fans hate Celtic more than Rangers (or the other way around) due to differing personal experiences with either club?
-
Totally scunnered after that. Why oh why did McCall wait until they were 2-1 up in the last minute to make a change? Ojamaa & Humphrey were out on their feet and we badly needed a substitution. And yet again we've gifted Rangers two goals on a plate, the 2nd in particular was chronic defending. Sick fed up playing Rangers these days, if they're not humping us under their own steam then we chuck them a lifeline whenever they need it.

Is there any other country in the world where there are two clubs who are so much bigger than the rest of the clubs in the country though? The club know that this is a money to be made from games against them and that's why they give them such an allocation. Other clubs like Kilmarnock, St.Johnstone & Dundee Utd do the same thing and the home support ends up outnumbered there as well.
-
I don't think the club are happy about having more away fans than home fans at games against Celtic or Rangers, it's more a case of needs must. The sad reality is that Motherwell fans cannot even come close to selling out two full stands never mind three whereas the two Glasgow clubs can easily fill out their sections when they visit so it makes sense from a financial point of view to give them as big an allocation as possible.
-
I'm afraid that's it in a nutshell. Provincial clubs need the 'Old Firm' money and that is why we need the 'Old Firm' in Scottish Football to survive. Take away the income that their travelling support generates and clubs like our's take a serious financial hit, one which we cannot afford. I don't like seeing Rangers or Celtic fans getting such a big allocation either but the reality is that financially we need it and the club are well aware of this and to be honest would probably allocate them the entire ground if they could get away with it because we can never sell out the home ends.
-
Exactly, but I don't think this ever happened when they were getting the Cooper Stand.
-
Yes I'm sure they do, but as I said the Cooper Stand 'experiment' just shifted that problem from the Main Stand to the street and there was arguably a lot more Rangers/Celtic supporters exiting into the same street at the same time as the East Stand exited. Of course it would have made sense for the police to hold their fans back until the Motherwell support had dispersed but for some reason that never happened.
-
Don't agree with that because that presents another problem of the two sets of supports clashing in the street before and after the game as they enter and leave both the Cooper and the East Stand, something that regularly happened especially when it was Celtic we were playing so that would just shift the issue from the Main Stand to Knowetop Avenue in my view.
-
How do they segregate the fans when they do this? I don't imagine there'll be any trouble as there rarely is between Motherwell and Rangers fans but it's a potentially dangerous situation with both sets of fans in the same stand using the same facilities etc. Still it could be worse, they could still be getting the entire Cooper Stand.
-
Was up earlier on and there are still plenty of Motherwell tickets to be sold although sales are picking up according to the woman in the ticket office. Apparantley Rangers have sold out the South Stand and have now been allocated both the north and south wings of the PO'D.
-
Well I've always had that thought in my mind during this barron run against Rangers that if/when we ever beat them again it will be when we least expect it to happen and not "when they're there for the taking" according to most of our fans so who knows... Still can't see it this weekend unfortunately.
