  1. The night Malpas blamed it on 'yer Donald Duck'? Aye it sure is. Think this one's a draw, 1-1.
  2. 2-0 Well. The road to Hampden starts here
  3. I actually thought Sunday was the quietest I've ever heard the Rangers support at Fir Park. Didn't hear a peep out of them until they went 3-0 up with five minutes to go when they woke up and gave a rendition of 'God Save the Queen'.
  4. I always liked the 'Scooter' song called 'Maria - I like it loud' that they played a couple of seasons back before the games. I think they played this in Bucharest or something and it caught on with our fans. It got the crowd going anyway.
  5. What exactly did the Rangers support do/sing/chant at yesterday's match that should have merited the police intervening, in your view?
  6. I think too many folk expected him to be a direct replacement for Sutton, but he is not that type of striker. Sutton was more of a 'grafter' who could hold the ball up and draw fouls from defenders. Michael Higdon is a target man/penalty box forward who would score goals in a side that provides him with the right service, something which we are not capable of doing.
  7. See this "the worst Rangers team in however many years" line that our fans always trott out, can folk not see that regardless of how 'bad' this Rangers team may be they still along with Celtic dominate, nay piss all over the rest of the SPL and finish at least fifteen points ahead of the rest every single year? They may not be as awash with the quality they were during their big spending nine in a row era but they are still miles ahead of us in terms of quality and will beat us nine times out of ten no matter how we are playing at the time. You need luck to beat either Rangers or Celtic, aswell as a more shrewd game plan than we saw today. Folk say we get no luck when we play Rangers or always fail to turn up against them compare to against Celtic, but let's not forget that two seasons ago we were holding our own against them at Fir Park, level at 0-0 and with five minutes to go are awarded a soft penalty and they are reduced to ten men. Finally some luck and a break against Rangers....only for us to blow it by missing the penalty! Dare I say it, we WILL beat Rangers again some day and it will probably happen when we least expect it as it so often does with us, who knows maybe even at Ibrox, but forget this 'there's no better time to play them cos this is the worst Rangers team since...' because it just doesn't work like that. They are better than us, significantly better than us and there really is no such thing as a good time to play them.
  8. No offence mate, but did you have your eyes shut when Rangers midfield was basically strolling through ours, or when they carved us open at will, or when they hit the bar or when they got a free header from their first corner which they should have scored with??? We didn't play them off the park at any point in that game, they were happy to sit off us and have the ball because they knew that we could do fuck all with it and they would get ample opportunties to pick us off with ease on the break. We did not create a clear cut chance all day today and had just a fairly decent early effort from Murphy saved aswell as a long range shot from Law in the first half to show for our 'possession'. As for the 'goal' we had disallowed, I've seen the replay and yes it did hit his arm but it was harsh to penalise him for that, but that cannot be used as an excuse for yet another spineless and clueless display against Rangers and at the end of the day we can consider ourselves fortunate to have only lost by three because if Rangers had really went for it today they could have scored five or six. Games against Rangers should just be written off as far as we're concerned as we don't even give them a game of it anymore.
  9. Naw I don't 'know it'. From what I've seen from us so far this season, as great as it is that we are currently top of the league, I see nothing in our team that suggests we're going to be able to beat Rangers, a side that we just cannot play against. Whatever you can say about Rangers, zero confidence, shite manager, struggling etc are all probably fair, but they still have better players than we do and are also a physical side, the type that we always struggle against. I expect them to completely dominate the midfield like they always do against us and oportunities for us to hurt them at the back will be limited as we lack creativity and goal threat in our side. Harsh maybe, but it's true I'm afraid.
  10. Heard it all before I'm afraid. "Rangers are terrible, we're playing well, what better time to play them we'll beat them this time bla bla bla" and every single time we never produce the win and this time will be no different. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that we're going to beat Rangers this Sunday.

To think that game with Rangers was just months before we entered administration. We knew the club were in a bit of bother financially at that point but no one knew just how much in the brown stuff we actually were.

    David Kelly

He was a decent player while he was here, got a few goals although they were mainly penalties but you could see he had a bit of class about him even though he was well into his thirties by that point. On a side note, watching the highlights of that game v.Rangers from 2001, who says we never get any decisions against 'The Old Firm'? If that was a handball then Andy Roddie was a prolific goalscorer!
  13. As far as we're concened they're always invincible.
  14. It won't give us any advantage, as no matter how good or bad Rangers were tonight because we just do not have what it takes to trouble them. We will not score on Sunday so it will all depend on what Rangers do at the other end. The best result we can hope for is a 0-0 draw. Motherwell do not beat Rangers, it's as simple as that.

    Faddy

I'm not taking the prospect of 'Faddy' returning seriously, I'm taking the fact that some of our fans seem to think that it's within the realms of possibilty that we could re-sign him this summer seriously. Hence the use of the massive red letters.

Who knows? A mid-lower Premiership side, a Championship side, dare I say it Celtic or Rangers... But whoever he signs for it certainly won't be us.

Four pages of a thread consisting of 'hypothetical musings'? And folk asking 'surely this isn't impossible'? For 'hypothetical musings on the internet' certain people appear to be taking this very seriously indeed, and I'm not one of them.

    Faddy

Because it appears to be getting serious as far as quite a few folk are concerned.

It is. Christ almighty will folk catch a grip here? He's fucking gone and he's not coming back! This is a 28 year old fully established International footballer who was with a Premiership club only last season we're talking about here. Yes he started his career at Motherwell and there is a 'rumour' that he might have told someone that he would consider finishing his career back here but let's confine this to reality eh? I repeat most strongly, he's fucking gone and HE'S. NOT. COMING. BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. No they wouldn'd ffs. They may look at some of our players, well only Murphy and possibly Randolph, but would do so to improve THEIR squads. Think about it for a minute, really think about it. Do you honestly think that Ally McCoist or Neil Lennon look at these players then think to themselves 'Oh I better try and sign him because I don't want him playing against us so I'll just inform the Chairman/Chief Exec. that I'll need the cash released for him so that I can get him here, stick him on the bench and ensure that they can't play against us for Motherwell'??? That's just a crazy 'theory', especially in Rangers' case when they've got the taxman banging on the door looking for millions, yet they're gonna buy a player or two from Motherwell for the sole purpose of weakening us? Rangers and/or Celtic may well be linked with certain Motherwell players before the window shuts, but so will several other clubs down South and chances are we will lose Murphy in particular and probably not for megabucks either, but that's the price you pay for being a 'selling club'.
  21. McCulloch would still improve our side if he ever came back here, he's proved himself as a good, reliable midfield player in the SPL. Rangers may not have the same calibre of player, 'household' names like they once had but every single one of their first team would walk into ours and just about every other SPL club and I defy anyone to contradict that. For us to beat Rangers, we will need them to have an off day, us to play at the very top of our game and, possibly most importantly of all luck, something we haven't had against Rangers for many years now.
  22. No but they are still better than anything that we've got.
  23. Aye it's all part of an anti-Motherwell & pro-H*n conspiricy that Murphy is being linked with a move elsewhere this week. I mean it's not as if there's been any transfer speculation whatosever about him since the very first week of the season or if there were about 11 scouts watching him against Inverness or anything is it? Nah, it's only come up this week because they want to unsettle us ahead of our game against Rangers. Verrrrrrrrrry iffy
  24. That's not the only reason why we haven't been able to beat them for almost nine years. Yes we've turned in some absolute shockers against them and seemingly get no breaks whatsoever when we play them, but what folk seem to forget is that Rangers are a much stronger and better side than we are and have players that would walk into every side in the SPL with the exception of Celtic (in some positions anyway). Folk on here are never done trotting out this 'Rangers have their worst side in history, they are pish, there for the taking how come we canny get a result against them' line, but they are still miles ahead of us in terms of quality and SHOULD beat us every time they play us. The same goes for Celtic of course and they themselves get the better of us in the majority of games, but Rangers style of play tends to make them more difficult to beat than Celtic as far as we are concerned. They are physical, strong and well organised and we always struggle against sides like that because they are all the things that we are not. Celtic on the other hand tend to be more of a 'footballing side' who attack more leaving them open to counter attack and they are not as solid and physical as Rangers are at the back so they can be 'got at' more easily. I don't see things changing against Rangers this weekend because I just don't see how we are going to be able to trouble them at the back as we neither have the physical presence or penetration in the final third to do so and I will be amazed if we even score on Sunday, never mind beat them.
  25. Give it a rest with the conspiricy pish Surely you don't honestly believe that the press and hacks will deliberately make up a story linking our players or manager with Rangers for no other reason than to unsettle us so that Rangers will get it easy against us do you?
