The world will never end.
-
Only if X11 runs into a bridge and shears it's roof off. Otherwise there will be no open top bus going about in Motherwell this Sunday as we will lose the final on Saturday.
-
I'm looking forward to Saturday, waking up knowing we're playing in the Cup Final, and pulling on the Claret & Amber, travelling in to Hampden and all the build up to the game. But I am not looking forward to the football match itself and the ensuing heartache that will follow.
-
That's what I think aswell, it's either going to be a hammering or a heartache. I've a horrible vision of them scoring a late goal or two to snatch it from us or beating us on penalties and really getting revenge over us for May 2005. If anything, I'd probably find an absolute pasting, horrible as it would be to watch easier to take than that happening. Not looking forward to this final atall.
-
Finally a dose of realism on this board. Can only echo what you've said here, in that I hope we win but I just can't see it atall. I've just watched the highlights of today's game and also Neil Lennon's speech at the end of the game. They absolutely determined to win silverware this season and they will not lose to us next Saturday, it just won't happen. If they come out the traps flying then this final will be over by half time.
-
10(ten) - 0 Celtic against our rookie keeper and shaky defence whilst Rangers draw 1-1 at Kilmarnock, Celtic take the title, we qualify for Europe again but are left demoralised by yet another serious hammering.
-
Scott Brown's a pussie when it comes down to the real nitty gritty stuff. Show him a fair, 50/50 challenge and he'll shite out of it nine times out of ten. He always has done and always will do so if Jennings, Lasley or even Forbes who kicked the shit out of Brown at Fir Park in February is up for it then they can put this muppet right in his place. Sadly though, Celtic have more than enough about them apart from Brown to win this game so the ball is firmly in their court as far as next Saturday's Cup Final goes. It's all about Celtic and what they do on the day. If they are right up for it then they win easily and the likes of Commons will rip us to shreds but if they are not right up for it then all we can do is hope against hope that some miracle may occur and we can take advantage. I woulnd't put 2p on it though...
-
No we don't reach Cup Finals that often, but the fact is that the last one that we reached, six years ago, ended in utter humiliation and if Celtic are up for it on the 21st then we will be utterly humiliated yet again. I'm just feeling really down about Motherwell just now following the last two gubbings but I do know why I queued for over three hours last Monday - because I hope that some miracle can occur on the day of the final, even if I don't for one minute think that it will.
-
The last three games have thrown up twelve more good reasons why we will not win this Cup. Our defence is utterly atrocious and Celtic have players that have the ability to completely exploit this. I am actually dreading the 21st May now to be honest because it's going to be an absolutely horrible occasion for us where we could be on the end of an absolute humiliation in a national cup final yet again. Unless of course Celtic have an 'off' day and only beat us by the one goal or on penalties resulting in absolute heartache at Hampden, again. Don't know why I bothered queing for almost three hours last Monday for a ticket.
-
Doesn't matter a a jot who the referee on the day is, we're going to lose regardless.
-
It was but what the Celtic fans or anyone else thinks about that is of absolutely no relevance to us. I really think some of our fans need to 'man up' sometimes as I am absolutely sick hearing Motherwell fans saying "oh we got humped off Rangers, what'll the Celtic fans think of us now?" Listen fuck Celtic, fuck their fans and fuck their opinions. The only purpose Celtic fans should serve to Motherwell fans is as things to be either abused, mocked or laughed at.
-
Exactly, either that or just tell them to go and fuck themselves. We owe those c***s NOTHING.
-
I can't believe the amount of posts in the Rangers thread saying 'aw that's given the Celtic fans ammunition to say we lie down to Rangers, no wonder they think we're h u n s without the busfare, what would they be thinking about if we needed Rangers to win the league' Well, so what if they think that? So fucking what? Why do so many Motherwell fans give two fucks what Celtic fans think, want or expect? Surely to Christ we've got more important things to worry about just now, like yesterday's awful display from OUR point of view and no one else's, or the fact that we've got a Cup Final less than three weeks away? Celtic fans think the fucking world is against them because they like to feel 'under siege' in their own cretinous wee world so fuck them. Us losing 5-0 at home to Rangers gives us much more cause for concern than what those backward looking, shit stiring mutants think.
-
Why does any Motherwell fan give a flying fuck what the Celtic fans think about anything? They think everybody is against them in their own, deluded wee world so who cares what they have reason to suspect or not suspect? Fuck them, we have more important things to concern ourselves with than those mongrels. And our fans have no place to comment on what anyone sings when some of our own are singing "Glasgow Rangers watch the stairs" and "66 was not enough".
-
Oh yes there were, and more. If anything that scoreline flatteres us and not them. What about Jelavic hitting the bar? What about him scoring a goal that was disallowed(wrongly from where I was standing), What about Naismith firing wide when clean through, twice if I remember rightly? Rangers were far from brilliant but they didn't have to be and didn't even get out of second gear. They absolutely strolled through that second half and were well worth their 5-0 winning margin and we are lucky that is all it was.
-
And where does the goal that Jelavic scored from the free kick that was given offside even though he was level fit into that theory?
-
An absolutely shameful, gutless and pathetic display from us today and that's us back down to earth with an almighty thud. Rangers were well worth their win today and if anything should have beaten us by seven or eight goals but we have contributed greatly to our own downfall and criticism must be made of the team AND the manager, whether folk like that or not. Why was Humphrey not playing? Was he injured? If so then why was he on the bench? And why did the team look so lacklustre, under motivated and under prepared? Answers on a postcard Mr McCall. YOU are the manager, it is your job to get the team up for every game they play. And the team itself? Absolutely gutless and no passmarks atall. Maurice Ross was absolutely diabolical at right back, say no more, our midfield let the game pass them by, Jones looks okay in the first half and fell completely away in the second and don't get me started on Jeffers up front. The second half performance was one of the worst I have ever seen from a Motherwell team. Rangers were totally comfortable and didn't even need to get out of second gear, and they knew it. They just sat in and picked us off at will as we strolled about cluelessly, barely putting a foot in. Completely and utterly unacceptable from start to finish.
-
Win or lose, I plan to get pished. If we lose as I fully expect us to then I'll probably head back to Motherwell, probably for a few in the New Century or JDs. If on the other hand by some miracle, and it would be a miracle IMO, we won the Cup then by Christ I'll be heading back to Fir Park to welcome the team home with the Cup before joining the rest of the 'Well support in commencing the party to end all parties, don't care where it is, the Cooper suite, some other boozer, the streets of Motherwell, Strathy Park or all those places and more, if we win this Cup then Motherwell has to party until Sunday afternoon when the victory parade starts and then start all over again for the following week. Highly, unlikely we'll win it, but we can but hope.
-
Absolutely, I just want to see us giving it a real go and no repeat of the 2005 CIS Final which was absoluely horrible to watch. At the end of the day we all know that if Celtic play to the best of their abilities they will win but from a Motherwell point of view we want to see some fight, belief and resistance to the stronger side so that, just maybe, we can catch them off guards if things do not end up going to plan for them on the day,
-
There's nothing else I can add, other than just a re-hash of a good luck to Motherwell for the final. It's unlikey that we'll win it, but it's not impossible. It's eleven men against eleven and sometimes the underdogs come out on top so let's just hope against hope that this is the case on May 21st. We have NOTHING, absolutely nothing to lose here so let's hope that we just fukkin well go for it and f Celtic are not up for it then God help them.
-
I should just point out, that I am currently half cut. But what the fuck, let's just take this final as it comes. Motherwell FC dont get to Cup finals very often and so this is going to be a special day for the club and for the town itself. We are gonna be up against it, don't kid yourself otherwise but maybe, just maybe Celtic will have an off day and we will be able to take advantage of it and lift that Cup. Fuck me, the celebrations should we ACTUALLY clinch this trophy, it will be absolutely surreal. Sends a shiver down my spine even thinking about it, I don't think I'd stop celebrating for at least a fortnight if we did win it and the same goes for the majority of 'Well fans. Good times guys, Good fuckin Times.
-
Okay, so we might not win this Cup Final as we are up against a better and stronger side but in the grand scheme of things, what the fuck? This is our first Scottish Cup Final in 20 years, that is something to celebrate and be proud of in my book so we can all be proud that our club has reached this stage against all the odds and given us and the town of Motherwell a big and proud day to remember.... And if we do win it...by God the parties that will take place on the night of the 21st... it will be a night to remember! So let's just hope against hope that we do win this game, however unlikely that that will be. Motherwell FC do not reach Cup Finals very often so when they do, that is a reason to celebrate and make the most of it and on the 21st May this year, we will all do that and hope against hope that we can bring the famous old trophy back to Motherwell and have the party to end all parties on that Saturday night. We can but dream and hope...
-
Well I'm forever being told that if I repeat the same thing often enough I'll be right sometimes so hopefully the same will apply to you.
-
Those must be two of the most repeated phrases in this history of this forum in regard to games against Rangers. You could just copy paste your pre match thoughts before every single game we play against them. Anyway I reckon we're a stick on for a point from this one aswell with a 0-0 or 1-1 draw. I know it's hard to get excited about the remaining league games just now and the only date on every Motherwell supporters mind is the 21st May, but I really hope we can get somewhere near a decent home support on Saturday because this is our first game back at FP since we reached the final and it would be great to see the team getting a really good support.
-
(In answer to Jay's points) Surely that would just be time wasting 'to prove a point' that it's a neutral venue would it not? Let's face it, we know, Celtic know and the SFA, as incompetent and useless as they are, know that Motherwell could not realistically hope to sell out an allocation of 50%. It is just plain common sense therefore to give Celtic the lion share of tickets given that their average home attendance is something like 55,000 and our's is barely 5,000. It may be harsh, but statistics don't lie!
