It doesn't matter what age I am, but I have been around for the last eight years and in that time I've seen better Motherwell teams than this fail to beat worse Rangers teams in that time. There is nothing about that Motherwell team that suggests we are going to do anything other than lose on Sunday and the fact that the game is at Hampden is only going to count against us even further because Rangers will have all the space in the world to exploit our glaring weaknesses just as they did at Fir Park last month.
-
Quite simply, we are going to lose this game, no two ways about it. We do not have players capable of beating Rangers no matter if the game is played at Fir Park, Ibrox or Hampen Park and even though Rangers have lose their main goalscorer they will still be more than good enough to beat us without playing anywhere near their best. If they are on their game they will absolutely murder us and we could be looking at a repeat of the 2005 final and if they're not and have a real off day we will not be good enough to take advantage of it. Despite that I'll be going along to the game as unlike the last time we were in a semi final, I can appreciate that this is a big day for the club and will be at Hampden to cheer on the team to hopefully the most unlikeliest of victories and enjoy my day out, though I honestly believe that I have more chance of winning the lottery on Saturday night than seeing us beat Rangers on Sunday afternoon. If by some miracle - and it would be a miracle - that we do somehow win this game then it will be one of the greatest results in our club's history but there is little to no chance of it happening unfortunately.

It's no use blaming Brown, he left us for a bigger club an we just need to get over it. As has already been touched on, I think there's a case for saying that Brown & Knox helped us avoid relegation this season because that squad is utterly pitiful and the fact that we were sitting comfortably mid table by the time they left shows how good a management team they actually were. If you want to blame anyone I think you should look a bit closer to home and ask why Brown wasn't tied down on a contract.
-
Whether he plays a blinder tomorrow or not, Richie Foran was/IS pish. There's every chance he'll get himself on the scoresheet and some of our fans will probably still cheer and applaud him for god knows what. I hate the way Foran is held in such high regard by some of our support, for no other reason than he was 'a bit of a lad who liked a few bevvys and a lock in or two'. On the park for us he was a very average player who had a knack of completely disappearing in games and contributing completely nothing for long spells but popped up with penalty goals and the odd decent run from time to time. Other fans may applaud this nobody tomorrow but I certainly won't be.

Fucking right we wouldn't This is football, it's a cut throat and merciless business.

I completely agree, Brown is an absolute lying, two faced c**t of a man who has made this entire episode ten times worse with all his bullshit about having the 'utmost respect' for Motherwell and their players etc. before leaving the very next day. As has been said many a time, if he'd just gone to Aberdeen without spouting all that garbage then I doubt anyone would be harbouring half as much bad feeling toward him. However, at the end of the day he is a man doing a job and his job is to sign the best players he can for Aberdeen and if he thinks that Nick Blackman, or Jamie Murphy or anyone else can improve his current side and he is an a position to be able to sign them, then why shouldn't he?
-
Sorry I don't understand attitudes like this atall. I like most Motherwell fans think Brown is a c**t for the way that he left to join Aberdeen, but I fail to see what he's doing wrong in this case. He has a job to do at Aberdeen and he needs to sign the best players that he can. What do people expect him to do? Just sit up there and think "oh well I need to get Aberdeen out of relegation trouble and up the league table but I can't sign anyone from Motherwell because they are my former club and I need to show them some respect"??? Wise up folks, this is football and loyalty doesn't come into it anymore as Brown & Knox reminded us all last month. We just need to hope that our new manager can bring in some replacements in this window and also hope that maybe this time the club will learn their lesson about getting players/managers on more secure contracts...but I won't hold my breath on that.
-
Mmmmm, aside from the fact that we are an awful side and have lost Brown and Knox who if nothing else, knew how to get the very best out of us, this is Motherwell, in the Scottish Cup, against a lower league side...What does that usually mean??? Yep, we'll get pumped! Dundee will beat us, if not at Dens Park then in the replay at Fir Park.
-
Shite by their standards maybe but they're still miles better than us.
-
How's it daft? Celtic have already put nine past Aberdeen this season so they can definately hit teams hard when they're in the mood for it and their opponents are pish.
-
10(yes TEN) - 0 to Celtic.
-
It's not just that but is it? Look at the stadium, it's done. The East Stand is falling to bits, the stairs are barely safe to walk on, the toilet facilities are a disgrace and across from that, the Main Stand isn't much better. Fir Park needs to be shut down and buldozed.
-
Toilets shut in the East Stand, concourse ankle deep in water, pipes burst and God knows what else. It may be 'home' but it's long since had it's day and for the sake of the club's future we need to get out of Fir Park.
-
We'll get a point today, but will probably walk out with a feeling of frustration that we should have won the game. 0-0 (which will be a good result IMO)
-
Poor.
-
Craig Brown - Motherwell hates you as much as Thatcher
-
That sounds like a fantastic idea. But please, please, PLEASE don't chant "Craig Brown paedophile". I don't give a fuck what Brown, the Aberdeen fans or the media would think or say about that, I just think that is so childish and unoriginal and we could do so much better than that.
-
The way Brown talks infuriates me. I generally cannot stand listening to people who are well spoken but when it's a pretentious, two faced c**t like him who is so desperate to make himself look like everybody's best pal then it makes you want to drop a piano on his head then ask him if he still has the utmost respect for you and your musical talents. Away and fling shite at yourself Brown ya wee baked potato headed old bastard.
-
I'd take him back, but only if John Boyle made him sign a contract which included a clause that every time he mentioned 'Celtic' he would get his wages docked for an entire month. I'd also like to see him dress up as Santa Claus and go around primary schools being nice all all the weans infront of a television camera then once he'd finished handing out pressies to kids sitting on his lap, come out for an interview, whip off his beard and say "I'm Mark McGhee, I bring joy to children and am 100% committed to Motherwell Football Club, to who's fans I hope I have more than proved wrong...Oh aye, and see that St.Mirren Cup tie, it WAS 4-5-1 formation, my heads shrunk enough now to be able to admit this." But as that's unlikely, naw.
-
Anyone agree? I've never bought into this 'cuddly old gentleman' image with his 'Oooh I have always had the utmost respect for - enter player/club's name -'. This man is clever. Very, very clever and is extremely good at wrapping folk round his finger with his nicey-nicey image but the events of the past few days have only reinforced my belief that he isn't all he seems and his 'utmost respect for whoever' patter is just a big dose of wind and urine. He came out yesterday and PUBLICALLY comitted himself to Motherwell FC with all the usual luvvy-duvvy chat and now he has back tracked on that and is all but Aberdeen manager. Well fuck you ya old bastard, I sincerly hope you fail spectacularly up there. What you have done is worse than what McGhee before you did. At least he was upfront, you went out of your way to 'commit' yourself to us only to spectacularly backtrack only a day later, and yet you still cannot even bring yourself to admit it. Craig Brown = an utter, utter, c**t.
-
You think Brown sounds just a tad pretentious at times?
-
Exactly. I don't want him to go, but players and managers have always left MFC for bigger clubs and will continue to do so but the club has always survived and that won't change if Craig Brown leaves us for Aberdeen.
-
Interesting indeed. Like I said, Brown is a shrewd customer and there's more to him than his gentlemanly persona and his "I have the utmost respect for every single human being to ever walk this earth" patter. Underneath all that he's just the same as any other football manager or player.
-
If you believe that then you're kidding yourself I'm afraid. There must have been some interest on Brown's part otherwise he wouldn't have met them atall, he would just have been polite and conducted himself in a dignified manner when he declined their offer over the telephone surely? Who goes to meet someone simply to tell them that they are not interested in a job, especially with the weather the way it currently is? Craig Brown comes across as a nice old chap who is very well spoken and very respectful of everyone he meets, and I'm sure that's the type of person he is. However, aswell as being a 'gentleman', he's also a football man and quite a shrewd operator I think, and even at the ripe old age of 70 you can still see the enthusiasm in him and I think the prospect of breathing new life into one of the biggest clubs in Scotland outwith Celtic and Rangers would have interested him, at least to some degree.

Thank God it's not just me that thinks that then.
