  1. The run we've had has been magnificent and Craig Brown, Archie Knox and all the players deserve immense credit for it. No one could have forecast this at the end of December when Gannon left and we appeared to be in freefall so it really is something that we are now on the brink of clinching a top six place. However I think the run will end this Saturday and Hearts will beat us 2-0.
  2. One point is better than nothing and considering the chances Stmudden had in the second half I'm happy to take it. And of course we remain unbeaten in the SPL in 2010!
  3. Not a song but I always loved the 'Junkie Junkie' chants at Andy McLaren that eventually caused him to have a near breakdown at Fir Park when he played for Dundee United.
  4. We're going to lose at some point and it could very easily be tomorrow night. However the same could have been said of Saturday's game at Perth so there's no reason why we shouldn't be quietly confident of remaining unbeaten here, espcially with the run we've been on since the turn of the year. This could go either way, but I think it's a 1-1 draw.
  5. Rubbish, Graham Spiers is one of the very few journalists who DO openly have a go at the 'Old Firm' especially Rangers. Whilst many other, like Chick Young, Hugh Keevins & Ewan Cameron shy away from criticising them for their fan's behaviour or the songs they sing or the way the clubs are run, Graham Spiers usually tells it like it is. He has regularly ripped into Rangers over 'The Billy Boys' and 'FTP' and actually has the balls not to fall at David Murray's feet(pardon the pun) over everything he says and does, rather he questions him, something which Murray does not like one little bit. As for this article, I really do not see much wrong with what he's said. We're hardly a top team yet our league placings in recent years does not suggest that we are a bottom of the table side either, so 'Yo-Yo' sounds about right to me.
  6. Good stuff, especially considering that avoiding relegation was one of our biggest aims at the start of the season. We've more than surpassed ourselves so a big well done to all at Motherwell FC.
  7. Are we officially safe from relegation yet?
  8. Hate to say I told you so...but I fuucking well told you so.
  9. Superb result from a difficult away fixture. This just keeps getting better and better.
  10. "Malcolm for England" when he played against us for Rangers.
  11. When was the last time the Motherwell manager was awarded back to back manager of the month awards? Well done Craig and Archie on a superb job so far in the short time they've been here.
  12. "She wore, she wore a Claret & Amber ribbon" Sadly, given our Cup performances in recent years this song very rarely gets a run out anymore. Just on the subject of songs, what were the East Stand singing section singing against Hibs the other week to the tune of 'Shoot the runner'?
  13. According to the Sunday Mail the other day, Boruc was on his way out of Celtic in the summer as they were looking to move him on and get him off the wage bill and they would be looking for a new keeper either as back up to Zaluska or to take over as No.1. If Celtic want Ruddy then they will get him, no point in kidding ourselves otherwise.
  14. If O'Brien is fit I'd have him back in the side, other than that I see no reason to change things. We've got a good record up at McDiarmid Park and haven't lost there since the 5-0 defeat in Davies' first game and without wanting to tempt fate, I think we can keep that and our recent good run going with a close, hard fought 2-1 win.

    John Ruddy

How are they bigoted terms? In the west of Scotland, H-u-n = Rangers fan, Tim = Celtic fan, simple as that. Most Celtic fans I know proudly refer to themselves as 'Tims' and some of them are not even Catholic. There's even a Celtic fan's forum called 'e-tims' and a shop in the Gallowgate called 'Timland'. I myself am Catholic and there are plenty of other Motherwell fans who are aswell, but I don't class myself as a 'Tim' as that to me means 'Celtic fan' and I would never use it to describe any Catholic. And as for the other one, if H-u-n is sectarian I'd love someone to explain the reasons why it is because for all you hear some hyper sensitive Rangers fans greetin about how it is an offensive term about Protestants I've yet to hear any evidence that supports this. Indeed, if that was the case then there must be plenty of right good, faithful and devout 'H-u-ns' that support Motherwell and Aberdeen and erm, just about every club in Scotland. Even Celtic! I completely understand why Orange or fen1an bastard or even bead rattler are considered sectarian, usually because they are used in such a sweeping generalisation but I just don't see the 'H-u-n/Tim' one in the same category.
  16. We went eight games unbeaten at the tail end of 1999 under Billy Davies. We lost 6-5 to Aberdeen and then didn't lose in the SPL for another two months until Rangers beat us at Fir Park in late December. That run saw us beat Celtic home and away aswell as taking four points off Hearts. We also had a good unbeaten run under Terry Butcher in 2004/2005 after losing the first two games of the season we then remained unbeaten until mid October.
  17. That is probably one of the biggest myths on this forum. Folk say that to me all the time yet I don't think I've EVER actually said on here that after we've lost.
  18. Show's how much I know then doesn't it?
  19. Another solid and thoroughly deserved win for us today and could and probably should have been a lot more convincing. Murphy should have scored the two chances he missed when clean through but otherwise turned in another good display up front, capped with yet another winning goal. And Steve Jennings really is class in a glass isn't he? So calm, such a cool customer and does the simple things so simply. He breaks up attacks, picks the right passes and really makes the midfield tick. And to think I had written him off at the start of the season as an overweight flop.

    Game Off

I tell you something, this game today - the SPL one between us and Kilmarnock that is - COULD very well be in doubt IMO. It has been constant rain/sleet/light snow all night long here in Motherwell so that will do the pitch no good atall I fear. What an embarrassment that would be if it was called off especially after it being given the green light just the other day. What's more I reckon that the authorities would not take too kindly to a call off from us today, given all the problems we've had.
  21. I couldn't give a fuck about St.Mirren but it doesn't really affect us in any way. It doesn't create any fixture congestion or inconvenience for us, apart from of course the inconveniece of having to travel to the absolute hellhole that is Paisley/Ferguslie on a Tuesday night for the second time this season.
  22. It was a late and downright dangerous tackle and was completely worthy of a red card. Joke of a decision. As someone has already pointed out, Liam Miller has previous for this sort of thing and he put in a very similar 'challenge' against one of our players(Corriagn maybe?) when he played for Celtic yet was only yellow carded on that occasion.
  23. From official site, this game has been brought forward by one week to Tuesday 9th March with a 1945 kick off... http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/index.php?op...&Itemid=133
  24. Given the 'reprieve' that were given yesterday regarding the pitch and how it will be monitored game by game, what would a postponement do for us as far as SPL sanctions go given that it was a difficult decision for the SPL to allow the game to go ahead in the first place?
  25. 2-1 to Killie, no doubt with a last minute winner.
