He didn't play for us in the 00s, his last appearance was the 6-5 debacle against Aberdeen in October 1999.
-
Most of Kelly's goals were penalties and apart from that he never looked up to much in a Motherwell jersey. Chiba is only remembered by Motherwell fans as the one who Bob Malcolm booted in the face and nothing more. He did nothing for us apart from that.

Top five highlights 1) Beating Hearts at Easter Road in the last minute of extra time after it looked for all the world like we'd thrown it away. That night summed up Motherwell FC in a nutshell and the celebrations at the winner and at the end were incredible. 2) Sunday 22nd May 2005. The day that Celtic were coming to Fir Park to win the league. Games against Celtic usually have a bit of edge to them but as many of their fans had bought tickets for the home ends ensuring a poisonous atmosphere. What a joy to behold to see it all ripped away from them with just a few minutes to go. It couldn't have happened to a better shower of arrogant c4nts. There's no team I enjoy beating more than Celtic and so to beat them and deny them the title like that was just something special. 3) Qualifying for Europe in 2008. Even the most optimistic of Motherwell fans couldn't have seen that one coming, especially after the way the previous season had ended. We played some terrific football on our day and although we were far from perfect and did look as though we might not make it as the season neared it's conclusion, we just kept on defying the odds and got there in the end. 4) Season 2004/2005 when we reached the CIS Cup Final, finished in the top six and of course stuck the knife right into Celtic's hearts and twisted it with brutal force on the final day of the season. Our football that season may not have been tremendous but we were exciting to watch and always looked like we could beat anyone - except Rangers - on our day. 5) James McFadden's performance against Celtic in September 2002 when he completely ripped them a new one. Joos Valgaeren never looked the same player again after the way Faddy tormented him that night. Top five lows 1) Saturday 29th December 2007. The shock, the disbelief and despair at the sudden and untimely death of Phil O'Donnell during a match against Dundee Utd. Even now it still seems unbelieveable that this could happen. 2) The Malpas season. An absolutely awful, shambolic campaign under a gormless, clueless yet for some reason arrogant manager. Our results said a lot, but what made it worse was that the players played as if they didn't care and Malpas just leaned against the dugout every week as if he was waiting for a bus. Then there was his deploreable after match comments when he told us that he wanted to walk out after 75 minutes after Inverness had run out 4-1 winners at Fir Park, his "That's yer Donald Duck" after we were humped at Dunfermline late in the season to drag us right back into the mire and of course his "They can boo all they like, I'm going nowhere" rant after that despicable capitulation against St.Mirren at Fir Park in what would have been a relegation decider for us had Dunfermline not slipped up at Inverness. The worst Motherwell team and manager for the last twenty years, without a doubt. 3) The day we went into Admin when the club's future looked very bleak indeed considering the debt we had. It was just a horrible day and the uncertainty was frightening. 4) Losing 4-3 at home against Ayr Utd in the Scottish Cup in February 2000. We had our fair share of Cup exits to lower league sides over the last decade, but this one sticks out for the way we defended and the way we threw away 2-1 and 3-2 leads. This was a highly paid Motherwell side, with the likes of Goram, Spencer & Brannan etc and that was a sign that a lot of them were just in it for the money and nothing more. 5) The CIS Cup Final 2005. The run to the final was superb but the actual game was one of the biggest anti climaxes ever. Apart from not wearing Claret & Amber for no apparant reason, we just didn't look up for it right from the off and you knew as soon as Maurice Ross made it 1-0 to them inside the first few minutes that the game was over.

Fuck up ya melodramatic fool. Made it your mission to do what exactly? Point your finger at others whilst completely ignoring your own lot's bad behaviour so that you can play the victim card and squeal to all and sundry about the bad treatment you get in this nasty, bigoted country? Just another example of the average Celtic fan's inability to accept that some people don't like them or their players. Utterly pathetic.

Knowing our record at Ibrox we would either have missed the penalty or simply made the final score 6-3.
-
We lost 5-0 at Parkhead in October 2005. 'Gubbings' like yesterday against Rangers have actually been few and far between over the last few years despite our poor record against them. We lost 6-2 at Ibrox in March 2000 having been 1-0 up and were beaten 5-1 at Fir Park exactly ten years ago and of course were hammered in the CIS Cup final in 05. Recent defeats have been much closer though which has made it more frustrating in a way.
-
Nah I think we should go for Neil Lennon. He could be the ginger Tommy McLean.
-
We got away with it last week as far as final scoreline went, but didn't today, simple as that, and the frightening thing was that it could easily have been double figures today. I agree that Craigan should be brought back now, if anything just to add a bit of experience to the defence. A month ago when we looked at the fixture list and saw us away to Hibs, home to Celtic and away to Rangers then I don't think that many would seriously have thought we'd have got much from these games and we haven't, so it's no real disgrace but the 6-1 scoreline today is worrying, especially when you consider that we really should have been on the end of a similar scoreline against Celtic last week aswell. Now it's all about how Gannon and this young side can pick themselves up from these results and we now have to absolutely crucial matches coming up. I see Falkirk won today, well we better start winning games again or we'll have to start looking over our shoulder...
-
Thank fuck that's over. Let's just hope we pick ourselves up for the next two games our we will be in for a very long and unpleasant second half of the season.
-
Aye a humping like his has been coming for months now, we just need to pick ourselves up from it and move on as it's not games against Rangers at Ibrox that will determine how our season will pan out. We MUST win the next two games. edit; 6-1 now. Dear Christ
-
5-1 This is gonna end up six or seven I reckon...
-
4-1, Kyle fucking Lafferty.

Shite comment that. It's one thing Celtic fans saying that about Motherwell fans but it's another thing altogether when you've got Motherwell fans saying it about their fellow fans. I've read folk on here before saying that they'll be sitting in the Celtic end at Parkhead before, or the Hibs end at Easter Road etc, so it's not unheard of for fans to occasionally sit in the opponents end if they get a free ticket or something. I'm sure they'd rather be sitting in the Motherwell end if given the choice.
-
Absolutely, I'd much rather play them just after they'd won and their confidence is up than the other way around. How many times over the last eight years have Rangers either drawn or lost to Dundee Utd or Inverness etc just before they're due to play us and just about everyone on here trots out the "never a better time to play them as they're there for the taking" line, only for it never to happen? It's unlikely that we'll get anything on Saturday, but like I said earlier, the way they play will suit us a lot more than the way Celtic played against us last weekend and Rangers have a tendancy to 'choke' somewhat when they go top of the league so maybe there's some hope for us to get a point. On a side note, in all the time these forums have existed - both the original format and now this, we've never beaten Rangers.
-
I think we might, just might be able to sneak a draw on Saturday. Unlike Celtic, Rangers don't play as much football and their build up play is slower which may suit our game a bit more. If we can keep their frontmen quiet like we did at Fir Park in September then we've got a chance, albeit slim of coming away with a draw. I don't think we've got anything about us to win the match though.
-
I seriously don't think he'd send the team out not to win no matter who the opposition were, he was possibly trying to take some pressure off the players by saying that this was a game that we weren't expected to win. If you want 'shocking comments' from a Motherwell manager then look no further than Terry Butcher's "I fear we'll get beat 7-0 and we should feel honoured to even be on the same park as Rangers" before the CIS Cup Final in 2005 or indeed Butcher's comments before ANY game against Rangers that basically condeded defeat before a ball was even kicked. And to make it worse we always did lose when he made those comments and were usually 2-0 down inside the first fifteen minutes. And then you had Maurice Malpas' "I wish I could have walked out ten minutes early" after Inverness had just beaten us 4-1 at Fir Park and "it wasn't about the way we played today, you just had to sit back and admire the way Hibs were playing" after Hibs thumped us 6-1 just after he'd given the players four days off prior to that game.
-
I'll admit my earlier comment about there being no positives to take from today was off the mark, as I made it immediately after the game and in the 'heat of the moment'. There were positives to take from today, most of all another top drawer display by John Ruddy and another goal from Jutkiewicz who is really starting to be a key player for us with the goals he's chipping in. However I'm afraid the positives from today were outweighed by negatives and that plus the fact that Celtic were clearly miles ahead of us is why I stand by my belief that the end result of Motherwell 2 Celtic 3 completely flattered us. That was a hammering in everything but the name today and we could have had no complaints had Celtic beaten us far, far more convincingly.
-
Yes and that's been the case on more than a few occasions this season, the only difference this time was that we were playing a team that was able to exploit our weaknesses and eventually punish us. Today, like the Aberdeen game at Fir Park, like the Aberdeen game at Pittodrie, like the Dundee Utd game, like the Hamilton game etc. etc. etc...we have only played for a short spell during a game and have completely fell out of things in the second half and had to rely on Ruddy, who to be fair was excellent again today, to save us from a drubbing. The scoreline of 3-2 Celtic flatters us because they could and should have scored a lot more and the two goals we scored were basically down to bad defending from them and although it doesn't look like a 'gubbing' on paper it was in everything but end result. We've done well so far this season, but IMO, we are a dreadful side and have no creativity, no midfield and are awful to watch. That's not a criticism of Gannon, he can only piss with the cock he's got and we have managed to grind out some good results so far this season but I now fear that we're starting to hit a slump and will be sucked into the relegation dogfight over the next month or so. With Hamilton beating Aberdeen today and possibly showing signs of starting to get some form up then I'm worried for us and I'm already looking to the back to back games at home v. St.Johnstone on Boxing Day and Accies on the 2nd as games that we really must get maximum points from.
-
Absolutely no positives to take from that today. Despite Celtic being streets ahead and scoring three excellent goals, 3-2 completely flattered us over the ninety minutes and we could have had no complaints had we lost by a far higher scoreline. With a trip to Ibrox coming up it really is starting to look a bit bleak for us.
-
Great player for us when on his game and scored plenty of goals. No doubt he'll join the long list of many ex players who have scored against us.
-
mmmm, I've got a feeling that he won't last the season.
-
No the Adams sending off and Faddy's clash with Lennon took place in the same game, in May 2003 which we lost 4-0. It was a Wednesday night game and Woods had an absolute nightmare, letting the first goal in at his near post. We lost 2-0 to them at Fir Park in December 2003 aswell and Adams missed a penalty in that game.
-
No it was Adams who got sent off for elbowing Alan Thompson right at the dugouts. We went on to lose that game 4-0 and the only good thing about that night was Faddy being ready to leather Lennon after he'd hit him with the ball and getting away with it. I don't remember the last time a Celtic player was sent off at Fir Park. Possibly Tom Boyd back when he first signed for them???
