  1. Clyde 1 say we have approached Ian Call's agent, while Thistle have offered him a new contract to try and persuade him to stay. But I stress, Clyde 1 say.
  2. That 6-1 thumping of the Jambos in 2002 has to be up there with the best of Motherwell performances in recent memory. We went into the game having not won for nearly three whole months and we didn't really expect anything from a high flying Hearts team. However we just absolutely destroyed them that night and looked like we could score every time we attacked. Faddy and Pearson were absolutely immense down the left flank that night and they completely destroyed Hearts in the first half alone. For worst performance, there's not many will top the 4-1 gubbing at East End Park in May 2007 that dragged us right back into the relegation mire at the end of the Malpas season. The players on the park that night in C&A played as though they didn't give a fuck and Malpas just stood there doing nothing about it. Mind you, you could say that about quite a few games that season, especially the 4-1 home defeat against Inverness when our manager said post match that he wished he could just have left early.
  3. Or what about Tommy McLean in a 'Director of Football/General Manager' type role with a 'Head Coach' working underneath him?
  4. Likewise it would be interesting to see how many of the Bob Malcolm haters would take to Lennon But it won't happen, as Lennon has already said that he will remain at Parkhead as part of the new management team, so this is a non starter.
  5. That's absolutely correct and I don't begrudge McGhee, or any other Motherwell player or manager from wanting to better themselves. The problem that I have is when players and managers openly talk about their desire to move on to bigger and better things and tout themselves for other jobs at other clubs while they are still employed by Motherwell Football Club, ie. Pearson, McDonald and McGhee(albeit to a lesser extent than the other two). That shows a complete lack of respect for the club and the supporters. It's only natural that they will want to move on to a bigger club if they are successful, as that's life, but I don't want to hear them constantly speaking of this publically, either directly or indirectly. I also don't like McGhee's constant commenting on issues at other clubs whilst he's been our manager. I know someone earlier said that if McGhee went, our club wouldn't get as much media attention, but to be honest, it's not us that are getting the attention, it's all about Mark McGhee, and he's usually talking about Celtic(usually), or Hearts, or Rangers or whoever's currently hitting the headlines. But hey, McGhee "doesn't care what we think". His words, not mine.

    Who Next?

I've heard that Freddie Dindeleux might be interested in cutting his teeth at managerial level. But on a serious note, we'll hopefully appoint someone with experience.
  7. I don't think anyone is questioning McGhee's ability as a manager, they just want this situation sorted out for the good of the club. Let's face it, he's more than likely going this time, I know that seemed the case last year, but even more so now, and the longer this drags on could be damaging for our preperations for next season. I have total respect for McGhee as a manager and think he has done a tremendous job in his two years here. Anyone who can transform a squad of players who had to have their arses saved by another team to prevent relegation at the end of one season to finishing third and qualifying for Europe the next, and in the face of the most difficult, trying and tragic of circumstances imaginable cannot have their abilities as a manager called into question. I'm not so keen on his attitude towards the club and the fans from time to time and I think others are the same, but that's taking nothing away from the job he has done ON the park for us. I just want this situation sorted out asap as I am worried about next season given the size of our current squad which is in desperate need of strengthening, but as has already been said, that can't and won't happen until we have a new manager in place so the sooner McGhee goes, the better.
  8. That should tell you all you need to know. WBA have already claimed that no contact has been made from Celtic so this front and back page headline in today's DR appears to be complete and utter garbage. I'll stick my neck out and say that McGhee will be appointed as Celtic manager within the next week.
  9. I SERIOUSLY doubt that the bigotry and 'politics' of the two Glasgow clubs puts off players and managers from signing for either of them. The only things that would put them off I reckon would be the obvious ones like money and standard of league and also if the player or manager in question had a previous connection to the 'Old Firm' club that he is not linked to.
  10. I'd actually be more concerned if McGhee went to Aberdeen rather than Celtic, for the simple reason that should he move to Aberdeen(or Hibs aswell for that matter), would he look to take any of our players with him? Clarkson for example, or maybe Reynolds? It would be less likely for him to try and sign those players as Celtic manager, as you'd imagine that they would target players of a higher calibre, but at Aberdeen, that wouldn't be the case. In my opinion, this won't be resolved until Celtic appoint a new manager. If that is McGhee then we move on and look for a replacement, but if it's not, then that opens the door to Aberdeen and possibly Hibs aswell and therefore the whole thing could run and run for a lot longer. That is something we do not need.
  11. If McGhee is going, and it seems likely that he will be, then I wish to fuck he'd just hurry up and go somewhere so that we can start planning ahead for next season. We need to strengthen our wafer thin squad or we could seriously struggle next season and that isn't going to happen while we have a manager who is just waiting to be offered a job at at least two other clubs, so the sooner this whole thing is resolved, the better for Motherwell Football Club.
  12. Just going by previous experience. I'd say Dailly going back to Dundee Utd would be more possible than any other move to an SPL club given he has already played for them. The other clubs I mentioned have always seemed to have been able to sign players that could seriously have done a job for us and we either haven't moved quick enough or offered enough wages etc. For example, remember when Rangers punted McCoist and Durrant and we were supposedly interested in McCoist, but he ended up going to Kilmarnock? And there's been a few others aswell down the years. I don't know where Christian Dailly will be going, I'm just guessing.
  13. Dailly would be a terrific signing for us, but we wouldn't get him. He'll either go to Dundee Utd or somewhere like Kilmarnock or Falkirk.

    Canterbury

The full hoop is finally back And that black training tracksuit looks the dogs aswell
  15. He made a massive, massive rod for his own back with his 'FTP' autograph signing when he was at Rangers, however, no one deserves that kind of abuse from bigoted monkeys just walking down a street in Glasgow. He made a mistake, I'm sure he knows it, everyone has made mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance. Good luck to him Down Under
  16. Great news, and potentially a good carrot for a new manager should we need one.
  17. Jock Stein played for them though, so was already part of the ahem "Celtic family" by the time he took over as manager. Another name I've heard mentioned in the last hour is David O'Leary. Now I know he has no previous ties with Celtic, but he's Irish so that would probably sway it for the Parkhead hoardes.
  18. Top manager, yes, but that would be good for them, which I don't want. Nice guy? Don't agree with that.
  19. I just hope it's not Martin O'Neill who comes back. I couldn't stomach that man in Scottish football again.
  20. How the hell is David Moyes a shoe in for it? Has he not already said that he wouldn't be interested in managing either of the Old Firm? Aside that, why would he leave a top half of the table Premiership club to move to the SPL?
  21. Did he even last a year though at Ross County? Anyway, that was in a lower league, so I don't think you can compare them. I do however, stand corrected on saying he would be a "first time manager", as I'd forgotten about the job he had at Ross Co.
  22. Out of interest, why would Bobby Williamson not be a good choice for us? He is an experienced manager who did a good job when at Kilmarnock. Okay, I know his football maybe isn't the best to watch as any Hibs fan would tell you, and it would be a big difference to go from what we've seen under McGhee to that, but his teams were hard to beat, well drilled and competitive. He took Kilmarnock from the brink of relegation to winning the Scottish Cup and qualification for Europe on more than one occasion, that's not to be sniffed at. Maybe not the popular choice, but I reckon we could do a lot worse.
  23. ffs will we ever learn about appointing first time managers? Scott Leitch, while obviously a good club man, is most definately not the man to take on the manager's job.
  24. I mind there was a good photoshop of Craig Bellamy after the game down on his knees sobbing into his hands with the words "Now I know why that c**t Souness sent me here" below it.
  25. It was made all the more satisfiying because that Celtic team was probably the most easily despiseable team to play in this country in the last twenty odd years. They had some right odious individuals like Chris (We all knew Dunfermline would lie down to Rangers) Sutton, Alan Thompson, Neil Lennon and Martin (anyone who boos Lennon is a racist bigot) O'Neill. They were more than happy to intimidate and kick the opposition off the park, dive to win free kicks and penalties yet hell mend anyone else who did it back. I mean, how DARE Porto outdive them in the UEFA Cup Final and beat them! I always loved the Setanta images just after McDonald's 2nd goal that day showing Martin O'Neill on the brink of tears with his head in his hands and Ian Crocker saying "Surely now the dye is cast for Celtic".
